  1. Green couldn't carry Quinn's jockstrap. He couldn't carry Keenan's jockstrap only because the later didn't have to use one because he had no balls.
  2. When one is too much a d-bag for the Flyers that should tell you something.
  3. Looking at that 2012 nhl draft, not alot of real winners that 1st round. I mean sure a number of 'studs' but many more 'duds'.
  4. Unfortunately, depth-wise, there are holes everywhere in the lineup. That damn Gillis leaving Alvin/JR with nothing to work with (prospects, cap space, etc.,).
  5. Co-winner of the Emery Edge trophy (top +/- in the league) in 2004: Glen (when he was GM of the Oilers always complaining about big market teams spending money like drunken sailors) Sather promptly offer him a decent contract when Malik stuck his toe in the free agency pond. Not that Malik was horrible. Just not a player you give that kind of contract then (he was a nothing special 3rd pairing/depth guy).
  6. I'd give Tocchet a bit more time to work on Boeser. Under his previous "alleged" NHL head coaches, Boeser developed very little, if at all. He wasn't like Hughes (a franchise type player). Saying McCann would've gone nowhere as a prospect under Willie D & Travis Green is more an indictment on Benning's hirings (and keeping them for 7 years in total combined).
  7. I wouldn't go so far as to call him a fraud. More like a type of coach better suited for a different era (imho) like the 1970s.
  8. Drafted July 24, 2014. Traded: May 25, 2016 How the heck is that not giving up on him too early? (note that isn't the same as saying 'we gave up on a 40 goal scorer'). He was drafted 24th overall. Of course such a player will often have warts that need to be ironed out. That ain't hindsight. That's common sense imho. Notice that he played VERY LITTLE in the minors once he was dealt by us. That suggests to me he showed enough to stick to a NHL club. And many of those teams were playoff teams. Not like making the squad of a lottery pick team & sticking. Just as I said, warts to be worked out. I already explained why McCann was cut adrift from the Pens (same reason they eventually cut adrift Sutter, then Bonino).
  9. Probably as much backlash against so-called "anti-wokeism". Ask Ron Sanctimonious how his Prez election campaign is going.
  10. edit: ahh, Greiss isn't worth the trouble of responding. A ****.
  11. Pro Wrestling as we knew it growing it is a far cry from today. Back then, 'kayfabe' was in effect: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kayfabe It doesn't exist today. Without it, the "suspension of belief" isn't possible imho.
  12. I had to look twice to make sure it wasn't an "Onion" parody piece: https://www.cnbc.com/2023/03/08/wwe-betting-scripted-match-results.html (story is a few months old now so I don't know what became of those "talks")
  13. Reminds me of an old story involving Stallone while he was making the film "Paradise Alley" (which involved a number of pro wrestlers). He apparently overhead a conversation among the stuntmen who were making fun of the 'pro wrestlers' in the movie. Stallone went up to them and told them he better not hear another word about that. He said essentially that "pro wrestlers' are actually professional stuntmen who are skilled at making those moves in 'one take' in front of a live audience. You (stuntmen) shouldn't look down on them.
  14. No shame in being a VERY solid supporting player which he was. Just not a player you want to hand out a mega contract to (like his current team did). Something JB failed to do in 7 years. Without such players, you just get a Laffs or Coilers team. Top heavy but little else. And JB couldn't even do that (at least those two teams contend for a playoff spot). Alvin made the right decision (imho) to deal Horvat.
  15. Turco should've sued for lack of support. Three shutouts that series by him in that series. Think about that for a moment.
  16. He's a billionaire. Born with a silver spoon into a life of privilage. Don't expect him to have the same 'social norms'. Uber rich people (he's beyond just afluent) born into money don't give a **** what you might think about him.
  17. I actually think JB on the whole benefited from COVID as it bought him more time (despite throwing a wrench into his likely longer term plans). Team was going nowhere fast (actually in the wrong direction) before the season was abruptly shortened. The "success" in the 'play-in' round & rest of that post-season gave a 'faux hope' in the immediate future of the club. Remember, prior to that season, other than his first year as GM, team was a 'lottery pick team' every season. And it wasn't even close to just a wild card spot. But that's just my observation that ownership would've had a itchy trigger finger that they might've fired JB sooner.
  18. It's neither of those two guys. It's that in 7 years JB couldn't hire a NHL head coach. Dave freaking Nonis didn't take long.
