  1. Yeah I’m sure the league wouldn’t penalize this obvious attempt to circumvent the cap. Like they haven’t punished the Canucks before.
  2. And he sure as **** wasn't cheap. Not in salary/cap right or the assets we gave up to acquire that stiff.
  3. Him being 35 years old (turns 36 in October) doesn't help (re: coming back from an injury like that).
  4. We need Bryon Ritchie back to solve the problems on the power play.
  5. Would depend on the three guys on the right side as that means the left side consists of two guys that have a combined NHL career to date of 31 regular season games. And Hughes has alot of work to do on his defensive game (though he can't even order a beer in the US legally so he's got plenty of time on his side).
  6. Alf + 75% salary retention for the Littlest Hobo
  7. Loui in his first game as a Vancouver Canuck: There never was a party with Loui, except when he's no longer a Canuck.
  8. They've also made the post-season every year save one for each of the past nine seasons.
  9. heh, a cheap ass like me ALWAYS sit in the balcony.
  10. I've been saying that for years. I thought Schmidt would be better than he was but he gets a pass for last season because of a number of issues from me (ie., new team, new coach, new teammates, etc.,). Myers is 31 years old now. He's likely to decline at this point. Edler, re-signed or not, is better suited for a diminished role. That leaves who up front that can play well without the puck on D?
  11. Lol @ Rousell bring a serviceable vet. Was once a solid player, including as a Canuck. But ain’t that anymore. A cap dump now because of injuries.
  12. I wouldn't say that. But for what he makes & his cap hit, oy vey what an awful signing. Only good thing about contract was that it's only two years long.
  13. It’s like having to replace Bobby Baccalieri. I mean he was a nice guy but not a good earner. Not that hard to replace.
  14. I think Nazzy retired early at least partially because he had an executive gig lined up with Modo. Plus it would him later the opportunity to play with his childhood friend Forsberg in Sweden. I seriously doubt LE has that same career opportunity. At least no job that'll pay him even just a third of what he's slated to make collecting easy paychecks in Abby. As well, to my knowledge, his restaurants in Sweden still don't have liquor licenses. But yeah, just try and deal with the pain of that HUGE mistake for only one more year.
  15. He was scared because the officials let Ferland take free runs at anyone on the ice. You don't think Torres would have that same effect if given the immunity idol?
  16. Ok, there are exceptions (Paul Martin).
  17. I wasn't suggesting JB doing that. I was suggesting that the Kraken GM has other concerns than merely reaching the cap floor at a cheap price. Again, look at who the owners of the Seattle franchise are. It ain't Melnyk. Why would Seattle, a team they will have to compete with (division rival) do us any favors but freeing up six million in cap space? That will come at a price. A price that will be too high for the Canucks to pay period. It's like asking Edler to waive his NTC.
  18. That's like expecting the current Federal Liberals to be good at fiscal policy. Edler isn't going to move & thus, there's no way he'd sign a deal without trade protection.
  19. Zero chance Seattle bites on LE unless we add our 1st round pick. You see who owns Seattle? They ain't buying value meals off of McDonalds for lunch anytime soon. Add a garbage contract like LE (even with his much lower salary than cap hit - which as I said, isn't that relevant given just how deep the pockets the Kraken owners have) hinders Seattle's ability to compete that first year. They, I assume, want to make a good impression early (as do most expansion teams). To a lesser extent, another garbage contract like Holtby ain't going to help Seattle compete, except for a lottery pick.
  20. I doubt TB has that amount of cash they’d be that willing to spend on an uninsured contract like Ferland. That millions of dollars coming right out the owners wallet. That team is operating at a loss near as I can tell. Though playoff revenues likely cut into that. They currently take advantage of LTIR because insurance covers those contracts (mostly).
