  1. Pat Quinn would be an upgrade over him and he’s dead. Yeah, I went there.
  2. No team is going to trade a young right side D man for a non top 1st round pick unless that team has serious questions about that player (which would you make you wonder why we would want such a player).
  3. Mats Sundin looked like he was FINALLY in shape during the Chicago playoff series. Too bad Mitchell had to cough up the puck at that moment.
  4. The problem with Seattle taking a cap dump is that it weakens their lineup (as well as really strengthens a team they're division rivals with). That's why I don't see Seattle doing us *ANY* favors unless an overpayment is involved. So next season MIGHT get difficult cap-wise, big deal. Just bite the bullet for a year & have slugs like Holtby, Eriksson, etc., for another season. Our core guys aren't a few years away from collecting CPP.
  5. Schmidt is only 29 years old. He still has value. Holtby? Garbage backup goalie making starters cash salary. Will require pretty substantial salary retention for any team to want that stiff.
  6. Myers is 31 years old & has a fairly hefty contract. Schmidt has an additional year left on his deal (similiar cap hit) but is basically a year younger than Myers (Schmidt turns 30 next month). I think they would prefer to take Schmidt as he plays the tougher minutes of the two.
  7. lol...random video but it seems appropriate.
  8. Problem is that Canucks tickets are hardly cheap. Sure people are 'itching to do stuff' but I'd imagine a fair number took a hit in their pocketbooks/wallets during this pandemic. Some may have even lost their jobs. And it's not just the tickets/season tickets that are expensive. Food/drinks prices are insane. Surprised there aren't pay toilets in the restrooms yet. Now, Abby games (Canucks farm club), I could see a fair amount of interest in. Far cheaper tickets but still decent level quality.
  9. One half the cap of Loui Eriksson but still three times the effectiveness as that player.
  10. Travis Green: See where it says here in my contract that I get to hire whomever I want as my assistant coaches? Jim Benning: See where it says here in my contract that I get to fire the head coach.
  11. Seriously though that player was the one guy that really tested me. Now there have been players on the team over the years that I’ve really disliked on the team but it never got to the point where I would even think of “booing” him when they were on the ice. Except for one guy. THAT guy. Now, I never ended up booing him but man did it get close!
  12. Jack Adams trophy winner with two different teams. Team record as head coach of the Canucks actually beats the team record of the Canucks five of the past seven years. His failure should’ve indicated that team should be in no way competing but rebuilding.
  13. Mentioning THAT individual's name on this board should be grounds for banishment.
  14. It’s mainly for a player’s work off the ice like humanitarian work/local community work, charities etc.,
  15. I’ve seen this Jimmy McGill in action. Wasn’t impressed.
  16. Once the league is fully opened up to take on all fans, playoff revenue should cover a lot of that goalies salary. Owners make a ton of money from playoff tickets. With coach Q, I wouldn’t bet against them not making the playoffs again next season.
  17. Not just what he's making. His NTC clause (as per capfriendly) reads as "he submits a three team list". Yikes.
  18. Doesn't sound like a recipe for success. If one is trying to "go for it", you go with an established NHL head coach imho.
  19. Going for it by having a career AHL head coach be the guy coaching the Vancouver Canucks.
  20. Definately NOT handcuffed in their first year with Benning. Each of those guys were in the top ten in total points & were a large reason the team rebounded to a 100+ point regular season & playoff berth.
  21. Habs GM was crafty SOB as well. Back when there was no lottery, he worked his magic to make sure they'd be able to draft Guy Lafleur. One team was in the way so the Habs GM deliberately gave them a one-sided trade so that team would move up the standings (giving them a crappier 1st round pick obviously).
  22. True enough. Though you can’t have all those positions taken by developing players. Where this management has been weakest is the pro scouting. Wildly all over the place (home runs and then Reggie Jackson bad swings at the bat).
