  1. Hey there was nobody more marginal than Leif Rohlin on the Canucks! Guy had a far better career overseas but the Canucks had him on their 'protected list' for I think like a decade for some reason.
  2. When I see how they lost their last playoff series this past season, adding a guy like Reaves ain't going to help solve their problems.
  3. Had no issues with him as a player for the Canucks but on the Canucks coaching staff?: As been said already, my condolences Wild.
  4. He even apologized publically for putting a player into a position where he'd have to fight (re: Flamers game where they sent out essentially 5 goons/fighters on the ice). Torts felt he had no choice but to send out five big guys out there. I forgot the Canuck players name but apparently that guy had his parents/friends there at the game watching & Torts felt embarrassed by having to take that action (don't think that Canucks player was a fighter but was 'big').
  5. Actually they ended up setting up some sort of cot/bed at Rogers for him to sleep over there instead of driving across the border like he was doing.
  6. Well we did get a 2nd round pick (55th overall) compensation pick for the Blue Jackets signing Torts. We'd be lucky to get one used condom for either Willie or Green (yes, I know they removed that compensation now)
  7. He won the Jack Adams trophy as "Coach of the Year" the year following he was fired from the Canucks. He didn't last long there either though (has a short shelf-life). Willie D & Travis Green can pay admission to the HHOF (as that'll be as close as they're going to get to that trophy).
  8. I'll be shocked if that's how the blueline will be at opening night. You have to think management has a plan (else why buy out OEL?).
  9. I should add that the organization *DID* have a sound plan at the beginning where Pat Quinn was supposed to be in an advisory capacity to help Linden. Unfortunately, there was no backup plan.
  10. He's an offensive player. Think he'd be a downgrade over even meh Horvat in that role. Has had attitude issues in his career. Pass.
  11. Linden wasn't the wrong choice in itself. Issue was having SO MANY inexperienced management in their hired roles. JB had experience in management but none as a GM. Willie had experience as a head coach but NONE as a head coach at the NHL level. When John freaking Weisbrod is the main guy as having experience as a GM had of a major league sports team, it's asking for trouble.
  12. Nonis hired a soon to be Jack Adams trophy winner for our head coach. He was the GM that drafted Edler He was the GM that signed FA Willie Mitchell Was "only" on the job as GM for 4 years (one of which was a lockout I think) I'll take that level of incompetance over 7+ years of 'going around in circles' with the likes of Willie D & Travis Green. Make no mistake, Nonis had his faults but he was far from the worst GM this team has ever had imho.
  13. Getting Edler because Gradin overheard the Detroit scouts talking about him is like going thru the garbage bin for discarded scratch tickets & finding a $10,000 winner. It's still a great hit no matter how Gradin did it.
  14. What exactly did Tim Schaller bring to the table besides sucking up oxygen? Didn't hit. Didn't fight. Didn't score goals. Didn't check particularly well.
  15. Was out of line but P.O.S. (man does a players initials do seems to describe individual perfectly ) has been milking for sympathy from that decades later.
  16. I think he might be soon training in a T-55 tank. Ain't no 'air-con' in that vintage 1950s thing & might be a tight squeeze for him given his size.
  17. It was like Mike Gillis never left.
  18. They inherited a great farm system so they had a head start until Jim Benning.
  19. Jim Benning wasn't given enough time to get those.
  20. I like Garland as well. He plays bigger than his size (vs creampuffs that play smaller than they actually are).
  21. The one constant throughout various GM's in Canucks history. Having this person be in charge of the medical staff:
  22. Ron Delorme was against selecting OJ. Jim Benning should've listened to him again.
  23. Probably easy to move in a sense from my POV, he has value as a player. As such, I would only move him if it's part of a bigger move to fill a hole on the roster (eg., defense and/or center).
  24. No chance Travis Green or Willie D will be his coach so that's a plus.
