  1. We had to give up a 2nd round pick in addition to K-Conn to get Derek Roy.
  2. Tough to accuse Nonis of that since he was only GM for three NHL seasons/4 drafts. And he *did* draft Cory Scneider, Edler, Hansen, Grabner, and even Raymond played over 500 games at the NHL level. Luc Bourdon sadly passed away in a tragic accident so we don't know how well he would've turned out. That's with *NO PICKS* higher than 10th overall (Bourdon being 10th overall).
  3. Well as bad as Gillis' drafting was, not really fair to pin the blame on him on years he wasn't the GM (eg., 2006 & 2007) You might also want to look at who the Captain of the Canucks (re: we might as well traded all out the 2008-2012 picks).
  4. Jim Benning ancestors are from Finland. That explains everything.
  5. My equipment is only 7 mm in length. Don't judge me by my small sample size. Unfortunately that line didn't work for me this past weekend.
  6. https://ca.yahoo.com/news/anti-vaxxer-sheriffs-deputy-dies-120803899.html I just hope the individual didn't infect anybody.
  7. If only Edler had that same mean streak. Brad Marchand wouldn’t dare try any of that cheap stuff against him. Mikko Koivu tried:
  8. Except Jeremy Jacobs is Vince McMahon.
  9. Chevy Chase didn’t have much luck with it either.
  10. Not everyone on the team had an abysmal a season. Hogs had a shot at the Calder if much of the team was healthy. If Demko played like Holtby, we would’ve finished probably last in the league.
  11. Witness the career of former 1st round pick Jim Sandlak. Was like a monster playing against boys in the world junior tournament. You'd swear Eric Lindros was out there lol. Then he played against fully grown men in the NHL.
  12. Can't blame Ron Delorme even though this is the geographical area under his jurisdiction. He was obviously in Sweden as he was the scout responsible for finding EP.
  13. When the league lets you take runs at players without calling infractions (like Ferland did against us in the postseason), you can have an IQ of below 50 and still be quite effective.
  14. My post was only to highlight that the league implemented a flawed set of rules that they didn’t correct until after the fact. You say loophole. I say incompetence with the league. Look how Tampa Bay used “loopholes” with respect to the cap by using LTIR to get around the cap (which the Canucks did in the Gillis years also) this season. Again, the league approved the Luongo contract because they had no legal reasons to deny it.
  15. You should add they APPROVED the Luongo contract (just weren’t happy with it as they had no legal grounds to void it) so the league changed the rules AFTER the fact in the next CBA and retroactively applied the new rules to an already existing signed Luongo deal & league approved contract to penalize the Canucks.
  16. Another "write-off" for tax purposes for multi-millionaire broker AriGold.
  17. Drafted Schneider, Edler, Grabner (Bourdon sadly died just when it looked he was on the cusp of breaking into the lineup), and Hansen. Heck, even Mason Raymond played over 500 games at the NHL level ( Signed free agent Luongo and Mitchell. All in the span of just four years (three hockey seasons as one was a lockout year). Very good number two for an organization (sigh, we've got Weisbrod).
  18. Size doesn't matter (Newbie looks at his "equipment" & prays this is true).
  19. In a mean nothing COVID season, what better time to play such players? You already know what you have in fringe, replacement level players.
