  1. "It's not the size of a dog in a fight but the size of the fight in a dog". Tyler Motte is under 6 feet tall but he plays bigger than he is.
  2. No cap space. A good part of the reason Schmidt was so cheap was that he had a 6 million cap hit & term.
  3. A person on LTIR doesn't actually create additional cap space. All it does is let you exceed the amount of cap but the amount you have on LTIR. And once Beagle is medically cleared to play (it could just as easily happen during the season), you still have the problem of what to do with his contract (cap hit).
  4. I'll believe it when Green actually gives him that opportunity vs putting him on a short leash.
  5. As I’ve said before, ‘fan’ is derived from the word ‘fanatic’ so you can’t always expect rational thinking.
  6. To be honest, I've got a built-in bias against him so that likely clouds my judgement on him. I can't say I could render an objective opinion on anything he does. If he told me water was wet, I'd have to really think about agreeing with him.
  7. Don Cherry was brought up in a significantly different generation. That doesn't give him an immunity idol but one should take that into context in his actions. MacLean, born in 1960, should know better plain & simple.
  8. True enough. I should add, Green with some security now (signed contract for more than just one season) means he won’t be primarily concerned with keeping his job and letting the prospects make mistakes and grow. Not all are going to be like Boeser EP or Horvat
  9. Agree to disagree. How is he going to "earn" minutes from sitting in the pressbox. He's the same coach as he was for the Comets. He leans on his vets/players he knows. Only reason some guys upfront got playing time was as a result of injuries.
  10. Ask Michael DiPietro. Another prospect that even I saw more action on weekends than this season.
  11. A rebuilding team *SHOULD* find a way to get Juolevi more than 23 games in a season. Even a COVID season. Don't give a **** about "we already have too many left side D". You make room or you ice more than 6 defensemen (like we'd miss a fringe forward up front). OJ's biggest obstacle in his development was lack of playing time (as a result of injuries). That ain't going to change with his ass stapled to the pressbox for like half the COVID season.
  12. Look at many of the individuals who were against the US joining the allies & their political leanings. The anti-war movement was VERY strong in the US back in the 40s (isolationist movement) then & they weren't all left wing hippies. Eg., Henry Ford, Charles Lindbergh, etc.,
  13. They might've been able to sue not so much for the idea of recapture but the manner in which it was applied. Ie., they league had already approved on the Luongo contract & applied this policy *retroactively* after the fact. But I figure the Canucks didn't want to make any waves with league HQ & give them an excuse to screw the team yet again in the future.
  14. It's only one year (and we likely have to wait it out another year for LE). I'd rather JB do nothing than give up picks to unload bad contracts. We'll be in a better position in the long-run (I'd rather 'roll the dice' and let JB use those picks to draft some more prospects).
  15. I doubt the head coach has much to do with the goalie coach and or goaltending (other than saying who starts). But that’s just my speculation.
  16. Biggest reason for Seattle not to take Holtby (other than he’s terrible) is why should they do us any favors? What helps us (frees up cap space), makes us a tougher team they have to face in the division (of which Seattle is in).
  17. Tough to be ready when he was forced to sit on his ass by management (coaching) for a large chunk of this season.
  18. I think the pressure will be ramped up if Seattle starts out of the gate well. At this point, before even the expansion draft, let alone the offseason not even starting yet, it’s tough to say how bad or good Seattle will be.
  19. You think the league won’t enact a rule later to prevent this and grandfather said rule to penalize the Canucks? Nah, they’ve never done that before. Cough, cough, the Luongo rule.
  20. Frankly I couldn't care less if Dan Cloutier was paid a MAX contract the year after winning a Cup even if the contract was for 20 years in duration. I could die a happy man seeing that Cup with the Vancouver Canucks team engraved on it. **** what happens after. You can't take that win away.
