  1. A worse backup + depth D making a few million (heck, maybe Edler would be willing to end his career as a Canuck for a cheap contract) is far better than Holtby imho.
  2. And that policy continued under Burke (cut salaries). It made the job of GM far more difficult; magnifying any errors (which all GMs make).
  3. That team would've eventually hit the roadblock Burke faced when he first was made GM of the club. Reduce the payroll (in a time where there was no cap). The former owners were bleeding money (re: NBA Grizzlies).
  4. Far easier for the Kraken to just select a guy like Highmore off the Canucks (as they have to pick somebody off our roster). Then pick a goalie like Michael Hutchinson off the Laffs. Then with the difference in cap savings, just sign a depth D for a couple million. That depth D + Hutchinson > Holtby. Neither goalie is a starter but you do need some warm body as the number two.
  5. Some heavy set guy sing the national anthem by the name of Mark?
  6. Didn't your uncle Junior tell you didn't have the makings of a varsity athlete?
  7. Knowing Mike Smith, when someone hands him a pen to sign those retirement papers, he'd feign a heart attack in an effort to draw a penalty.
  8. lol yeah just a couple months before his bonus cheque of:
  9. Difference being Fluery’s save percentage didn’t dip below 0.900 before left exposed. This is the second straight year Holtby’s save percentage is below 0.900. He’s done as a starter and his actual salary next season is 5.7 million. You’re telling me all the goalies being exposed are making a comparable amount? I seriously doubt that. They don’t have to be great and cheap. All Seattle needs is to select a cheap goalie and shove him in the minors. Serves a better purpose than having a subpar backup on the parent club with his cap hit.
  10. Why would anybody want Rousell? His body is just broken down from injuries (happens to many athletes). At least not without major salary retention which defeats the purpose of trading him (to free up cap space). He’s got a really low base salary but I just don’t think his body can last a season anymore. No way Seattle takes Holtby. They want to be competitive and wasting 4+ million in cap space on a subpar backup isn’t the way to do it.
  11. Placing a gun between the cushions. Like he was never a kid? Who hasn’t looked in between cushions as a kid for loose change and such.
  12. Yeah expecting him to retire and walk away from that three million dollar salary isn’t realistic. Sure some players do it (eg., former Canuck Nazzy) but you can’t expect all players to be that honorable.
  13. Yeah but I doubt an unproven goalie prospect who barely has his feet wet in the AHL/NHL plus a 3rd round pick is going to get you anything of note. A guy like Eddie Lack (who actually played many more NHL games (80+) with decent numbers got us only a 3rd round pick & 7th round pick. Just my opinion.
  14. If the Sabres need goalie help (and I have no idea who they have in their pipeline), I doubt a guy with but only some 40 or so professional games (AHL & NHL) is going to be the major piece in a trade. A sweetener maybe.
  15. DiPietro played 4 games this season. Might as well keep him considering you’re going to be offered nothing of real value for him imho. OJ still is pulling wood splinters off his butt from the inaction he received this season. For the same reasons nobody will offer much for him. Keep him as a result.
  16. From the creator of "The Rockford Files" & "The A-Team": Before Donnie Brasco & Goodfellas, this filmed in Vancouver TV series was pretty solid. Also starred the "Bettter Call Saul's" Jonathon Banks (Mike Ehrmantraut) in a supporting role as the lead's boss.
  17. A fairly weak Dirty Harry movie - The Dead Pool, but it did have this unique twist on a car chase:
  18. As much as it pains me to say, he's actually a legit allstar right now (no excuse me, while I go to the bathroom to throw up ).
  19. Weird how THE rat, Brad Marchand seems to have behaved himself for a bit.
  20. Based on his ice time this season, he'll get there when he's 50 years old. There's bad planning and then there's bad planning.
  21. I think it depends on a goalies stage of development. For an older veteran goalie, there's only some many new tricks you can teach a dog for example. But for a guy like Demko, I think a goalie coach can & will make a difference. But again, I'm not talking from an area of expertise. Just my opinion.
