  1. I have been on Loui’s case as much as anyone however I seriously doubt he’s ’dogging it’. Like all professional athletes, they jump the shark eventually. For some, that happens quickly. Look how Hansen’s game fell off the cliff so rapidly. This is the danger of handing out such a long term big money contract at the age Loui was.
  2. The last two head coaches hired by Jim Benning certainly hasn't change that stagnancy. Two good head coaches for the Comets but don't look to be NHL material.
  3. Jets didn't need any help though. Can have a poorly officiated game *AND* not have likely effect the outcome of the game.
  4. Hasn't been really one for a few years now though. Granted he was Vezina type candidate at his peak.
  5. On a *REMOTELY* related point... (in times like this, best to laugh rather than get angry)
  6. Nah. Just one that has some noticeable holes. *CAN* be fixed (doesn't require a wholesale change).
  7. That's his cap hit. He's actually making $5.7 million *cash* then. Bargain basement backup indeed.
  8. As a dumbazz myself, I'm insulted you think that person is at my level.
  9. I'm predicting Dr. Crossbar somehow getting to the ice & streaking. Jets get all confused where Schmidt just taps it into the net.
  10. Gradin, by whatever rumored story you wish to believe, found out about him before anybody outside of THE Detroit amateur scout knew anything about him. Edler was playing in a beer league type of hockey organization. Detroit was going to pick him later in the draft but Gradin got the jump on the & persuaded our GM to draft him. Nowadays, there aren’t as many ‘secrets’ or unknown talents. As for offering a 2nd round pick to Seattle to grab Eriksson, they’d laugh at the offer and hang up the phone.
  11. Except when Big Buffet Reeves came to eat at a Uncle Willie’s and you had a stake in the business.
  12. Sure he’s not what he once was. But if he was, his price tag would be tons more. He’s on a cheap *ONE* year deal. I don’t know what people expect from a bargain priced depth defenseman on an expiring contract. Bobby Orr?
  13. Is Todd smarter than the average bear or was that Yogi bear?
  14. It's more in the manner we lost some games (blown leads and or failing to play for 60 minutes). It's another to lose games to a better team, it's another not to even put up a fight.
  15. Yeah I read that the reason why Robinson didn’t continue the head coach job, even though he was successful at it, was that he hated having to come down on players when they needed to be disciplined (as opposed to coaches who seemed to browbeat players ALL the time). Here’s a video clip of his diplomacy in action...involving a player of the OPPOSITE team during his playing days: Robinson cooled Tiger Williams by saying to him essentially on the ice “listen, I know the refs screwed you on that call but it’s just a game, how about we go fishing afterwards”. Seriously! That’s how he was able to de escalate the situation (as Tiger could get very emotional at time lol). Great Hall of Fame player. Even a better human being. Nice guys don’t have to finish last.
  16. There are always exceptions to most things. Larry Robinson for example. I can ignore Stan Smyl's disaster as head coach on the Moose due to inexperience (never had, to my knowledge, a real hockey head coaching job before that).
