  1. Whatever you think of his politics, Fleury should be in the HHOF. I always am willing to cut him a bit of slack given the abuse he received before he was even an adult. That had to adversely effect him (or anyone) having to go thru that. Doesn't excuse some of his wacko theories obviously but "one should walk in his shoes" in the way he was treated in juniors before casting too much judgement on him (yes, that applies to me when I made those kinds of judgements on him - I never claimed to be perfect).. Another undersized guy that should be considered is Paul Kariya. Pre-Suter cheapshot, he would've easily put up the numbers for him to get in (imho). If they made an "exception" for Neely, they should do the same for Kariya (imho).
  2. Useless trivia: Simon Templar's male friend (alleged FBI guy) in the room would go on to play Felix Leiter of the CIA in a future James Bond movie (not a Bond picture with Roger Moore though)
  3. I always picture Pierre Turgeon in this uniform: (edit: still in a 'snarky' mood as Alf drank all my scotch again.)
  4. In that 3,000 seat arena? "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it...does it make a sound?" edit: sorry for being kind of snarky today...Alf just drank my last bottle of Scotch.
  5. Toe Blake could be coaching that team and it still wouldn't be going anywhere in the standings.
  6. They've got an inside track with the biggest ass kisser of Poutine on the team already.
  7. Pleased to make your acquaintance Mark Donnelly.
  8. Damn, I wonder if the Canadian army is *STILL* using those ancient circa WWII deuce & a half trucks?
  9. heh, neither would Musk pay himself to ride a flight with SpaceX until something like 100 flawless flights happen with his rockets (I'm pretty sure he something to that effect).
  10. JR to Francesco: You see my contract? It says I'm in total control. Francesco to JR: You see me? I say I get to hire & fire the President of Hockey Operations.
  11. That was the biggest problem with Gillis. Arrogance to the max. Was a smart guy but he liked to tell you he was smart. JB was /is part of the 'old boys network'.
  12. He turns 33 in January. I think his time is done. Still managed to play over 650 games at the NHL level. Ending up playing more games at the NHL level (as of this date anyhow) than Michael Grabner. I would've never thought that would happen given his inner demons (that I hope he's moved well past).
  13. I sense you're holding back. Tell us how you really feel.
  14. Sad thing is...Kelly still sucks and he's still officiating after 2 years.
  15. Bear in mind, unless I'm mistaken, Schenn was basically playing top 4 minutes for the Laffs in the post-season & didn't look that out of place. Granted, I don't expect him to be able to keep up that pace over a long regular season...but we can do alot worse than having him as backup/insurance in case of injuries in *our* top 4. It depends obviously on what his contract demands are.
  16. Might be his last contract & quite frankly I don't blame him for trying to get "money". He's earned it (imho).
  17. I've said this multiple times but imagine how more of a well rounded player Boeser would be had Tocchet had coached him from the very start.
  18. It depends.....Take for example the Chicago Wolves. Winners of multiple Calder Cups but I wouldn't say those teams were chock full of NHLers. They were full of AHL vets/hired guns because that's what that AHL affiliate goal was (less so for developing prospects). A team full of AHL veterans will generally eat alive a squad of "top prospects" because they are fully grown/matured men. No different (imho) than the worst team in the NFL playing against the top ranked college team.
  19. Richard Sharpe's knows: Two actors who played James Bond villains duel:
  20. I'll admit I thought Schmidt was a major coup by Benning. I won't use hindsight to knock Benning for that trade.
  21. Benning couldn't carry Quinn's jockstrap (though other than Burke, neither could any other former Canucks GM). He had the dual problem of no cap AND ownership that wouldn't let him spend the way he wanted to. That's why he played those contract games with Bure. It's not a very real problem that any subsequent Canucks GM had to face.
