Granted the environment *may* change in the near future (as this is still a gate driven league & some of the poorer teams might be feeling the pain already) but there really hasn't been *any* team that has remotely struggled to reach the cap floor. Unfortunately there are a number of awful contracts likely still floating out there where said player is on perpetual LITR (where insurance is essentially covering their salary); that such a team might always acquire if need be.
Both of them can go **** themselves. They deserved each other. Haven’t forgotten the **** tried to throw an elbow in the direction of Ohlund’s bad eye. You can sure he didn’t try to do that again after the Viking responded with:
In defense of Green, beyond Schmidt & Edler, there aren’t a lot of other options on the bench to handle those tougher D zone assignments on the blueline. Sheltered minutes, sure. Plenty of options. But we’re not talking about those type of minutes.
Different world in many ways back then. One noticeable difference....no salary cap. Two, we didn’t have ownership with deep pockets and the funds to spend that money. Made the job alot more difficult back then.
What really hasn’t been mentioned much is the lack of practice time/preseason means Ian Clarke has had minimal time to work with the goalies. Less of an issue with a vet like Holtby but *IS* important for a guy like Demko.
Laffs aren't that good to shut us out. And it's not like scoring goals has been a huge issue for us. It's preventing the other team from scoring that is the problem.
Either player (Chatfield/OJ) getting less than 15 minutes a game isn't going to do anything for their development. I could understand if the games were close; but they haven't been.
Tight schedule is a horrible excuse. Make REAL use of the taxi squad and give those guys REAL minutes instead of a few shifts in a game to keep the rest of the team fresh. Even if it means using a less than ideal player for a game.
lol. Refs swallowed their whistles (among other organic material) during that playoff series.
How many bodies would be left laying on the ice if Torres were given that privilage in 2011?
