Wasn't Benning the GM of the team first? Seems odd, Linden would be the guy hiring someone working under Benning. You'd think Benning would want to do that.
I wouldn't base any conclusions on the basis of one game tbh. I didn't watch that game; but I'm assuming it was just a case of the Habs not taking their opponent seriously. Sens *are* the worst team in the division. Where we fit in, that's more up for debate imho.
The Sedins were the best two amateur players in the 1999 NHL draft. Even though technically Stefan was the 1st overall pick; it only was for PR purposes (so the expansion club could use that for marketing purposes). Burke arranged with Atlanta not to pick either Sedin with the 1st overall pick.
Nowhere to go but up. Can't really play any worse; and the Laffs are significantly worse defensively than the Habs as a whole (we seem to struggle more against teams that have a strong defensive system in place like the Habs).
Truth is somewhere inbetween.
We aren't as good as beating that sad sack Sens team; but we aren't as bad as the thumping we received by the Habs tonight.
Only 44. Wow.
Not sure if it was a case of undetectable form of cancer; but make sure you go see your doctor at least annually (complete physical, blood test, etc.,). The earlier they diagnose it, the better your chances of beating it.
We've been spoiled by the 1st round picks that were home runs.
Fact is, there's NO WAY every single 1st round selection by Jim Benning will end up like EP or Hughes. NO NHL GM can do that.
Sometimes a player turns into a single base hit or ground rule double. No shame in that; regardless of draft position. Even Ted Williams had strikeouts (rarely lol but it did happen).
He rides shotgun with McDavid to be his bodyguard (Kassian isn't really a heavyweight but a respectable light heavyweight fighter). That's his main objective when on that line. Would be nice to have such a player on EP's wing at times (Miller would be wasted in that function as he's actually a legit first line forward - don't want him in the penalty box).
Also the reason why they had TWICE daily delivery of the regular postal mail for a period of time (and I read it's making a comeback because of the big increase in online sales as a result of the pandemic).
True but to be fair how long a leash would Gillis have gotten had Luongo managed to up his game (to just a reasonable level) for just one of those away games in 2011.
