  1. I think that’s his joke (eg., Loui E got a 6x6 contract from Benning)...but I’m not sure as then that’s insulting us.
  2. Could’ve used him for his fighting ability against the Bruins in the Cup Finals. Marchand would be eating his dinners with a straw if he tried anything on him.
  3. Stecher seemed to play his best (at least in terms of sustained level of play) when paired with Hutton. Have no explanation for it other than some players just have chemistry together. Others, like Edler & Bieksa (when both were easily LEGIT top 4 D in their primes) never really did imho.
  4. Looks at the depth of our blueline before we had Hamonic....
  5. I still can't understand how Marshmellow Kyle Wellwood outhit Loui Eriksson as Canuck players....
  6. That's what I was doing last weekend....errrr, almost forgot we're on a 'family friendly' board.
  7. That actually is pretty good - for a rookie (to put things into context). Yes, it was the Oilers (who are their usual *bad*). But they still have some more than solid forwards (who can make most D look bad on a given shift). For a rookie defenseman, he put in a decent performance (and this is coming for a guy who is hardly his biggest fan).
  8. They'll be here to celebrate something of SIGNIFICANTLY greater importance (eg., Cup win).
  9. As much as I make fun of LE, he STILL can play more than adequately defensively at the NHL level. It's just that he has ZERO offensive game (and of course that $6 million cap hit).
  10. Wrong comic book movie..... "Because he's the hockey player the Vancouver Canucks deserves...but not the one it needs right now. So Benning will put him on waivers. Because he can take it. Because he's not a good hockey player. He's a disinterested hockey player. A guy who watches from the stands. A Dark Black Ace."
  11. Constantly leaving vendors/creditors holding the bag on debts is his speciality. Conceptually, it's the same thing from my point of view. We'll have to agree to disagree. Madoff just took it on a clearly different level. (Dotard University, etc.,)
  12. So was Bernie Madoff. Both were grifters - that's where their skills were in.
  13. One of the greatest NHL defenseman of all time - Doug Harvey - lived in a rail car at the end of his life (granted the rail car used be used by the PM John Diefenbacker [sp?]. To be sure, times were different then (where the players worked for peanuts and the owners had all the control). Read the book "Net Worth" for more information.
  14. Far, far easier to 'ease' into the lineup as a winger than a defenseman at the NHL level.
  15. I think the question is who should get the shots first/priority order. With a limited supply, I'd put them down the priority list; but that's just my opinion. Clearly they should get the shots (if for no other reason for what you just stated). But I'd give it to prison staff first.
  16. Roussel didn't have a great season but jeebus....he was coming off an major injury. The previous season, he *MORE* than carried his own weight for the team. That ALONE (imho) means he should be given the benefit of the doubt for this upcoming season.
  17. As a guy who sits as a 'black Ace' in the pressbox, I'd rather have Fanta take that spot. Better for Juolevi play minutes - even if it's at the AHL level than sit on the bench or have spot duty. Though if there's no AHL hockey in NY, then that obviously will affect my opinion on the matter. We'll just have to 'agree to disagree' on Benn.
  18. Random video came to mind when I read this post....
  19. Kelly Loeffler, even though she lost, still got over 2 million votes. So much for the Ben Shapiro acolytes "facts don't care about your feelings" mantra.
  20. Rafferty/OJ/Rathbone/whovever don’t have more than a handful of games at the NHL level. A bit premature to claim they’ll be better than even a journeyman like Fanta. Certainly the potential is there but it’s not a fact they will be better. I do like Schmidt & Hamonic over Tanev & Stecher. But wasted cap space Benn is still there (same guy that had a career minor league player like Fanta beat him out for a spot).
  21. At one time he could. Today, a minor leaguer similiar to Fanta did last season, can beat him out of a spot in the third pairing.
  22. But Hunter's laptop & Hillary's emails!
  23. Bingo. Out of the current lineup, only one guy can play above average defensively (in his own end); and that's Schmidt. Edler is still ok but he's 34 and not the same guy he was in 2011. Hamhuis in 2011 was still well above average defensively. Same with Salo & Bieksa. It's not just about 'putting up points' but preventing the other team from scoring. Reason why the Hamonic signing was so important (solid PKer to replace Tanev's time there).
