  1. Forsberg ain't exactly chopped liver & one can make the argument that Roy was the greatest goalie of all time. How many post-season series would the Avs have won with Dan Cloutier in net?
  2. Probably the end of the road for him (once you have to resort to a PTO from a team like the Yotes). Still, even if he never plays another NHL game, he has over 660 NHL games under his belt. Not too bad for a 13th overall pick.
  3.

i've never won a context in my life. noluck.

  4. I was a "Roadie" for the great Canadian rock band Triumph:
  5. I guess telling you about how I feel about my mother would be off topic
  6. Sometimes things go wrong for circumstances beyond the control of the club (eg., major injuries, etc.,). At the end of the day, their thought process seems logical which is all you can really ask for.
  7. Just read that show was a remake of an older British tv series:
  8. I don't believe the Vito Corleone as portrayed by DeNiro had yet met this guy yet:
  9. Why did you photoshop out the "netting" he had between his legs "in that area". I still laugh at the "old stories" of him adding in "extra stuff" in his pads (so they'd be over regulation limits). Refs would often check out his pads before a game; Tony would just remove all that extra stuffing beforehand & give the refs the pads to measure. He merely adding back the padding after. I *think* he was the goalie that started the whole scrapping the ice around his net & adding that "snow/ice" around his posts. There was this video of him smirking saying "these officials always giving me a hard time". Guys like Cheevers didn't care too much about practice as he'd often just stand beside the net & waive his stick at his teammates taking shots at the net. Tony O? He *HATED* being scored on...even in practice.
  10. Alot of times, major trophy wins are at least in part influenced by 'past reputation'. IMHO, Kesler should've won a Selke earlier (and the year he won it, imho, he had a lesser case for it...note, I'm not saying he didn't deserve it).
  11. He had one (the other was obtained by his 'wheeling & dealing'. "Edit: As far as "luxury" goes, Quin and the guys before them, we're the ones who didn't have that luxury. Since then scouting and development staff has more then tripled. It started during Burkes era, a little before. Burke was actually the guy who under Quins request, find out if Bure had played enough games and get the proof to be drafted. Burke did the leg work, got the proof (nice to have a law background as your right hand man), gave it to Quin and then advised him NOT to waste the pick on Bure ... because "that's a small body gentleman". Funny how things haven't changed. " heh, "It ain't cheating if you don't get caught". Not accusing anybody of doing 'skullduggery' but story does sound a bit fishy that mysterious gameday sheets were "found" listing Bure's name. Hey, if I was a defendant in a case, I'd want a lawyer like Burke. Also, while the Griffith's family were running into financial issues (money losses on the Grizzlies for example), I don't think Quinn had the edict from ownership to 'cut payroll' like Burke had (re: from players to administrative staff like scouting). And this was during the time with no cap (where other teams could just outspend you for free agents/players). edit: I may have the timelines confused, as heh, we're talking like well over twenty years ago.
  12. Well Hughes does need somebody with a pulse on that side. He ain't *THAT* good.
  13. I respectfully disagree. I think Hughes has developed/progressed beyond that (imho).
  14. Canucks then had one mean @#$@% as a Captain - Orland Kurtanback. He could throw punches with the best of them. In fact, under his leadership the Canucks actually were competing for a playoff spot (or in the thick of it) until he went down with a major injury. Then the 'wheels fell off the team'.
  15. He's also had a number of fairly high picks and the payroll to hire alot of scouts. Burke never had that luxury.
  16. IMHO, he's still a useful player. Maybe a little overpaid but he's a player other teams don't like to play against.
  17. I'll give an honorable mention to somebody *NOBODY* will likely mention. Mike Liut. Not because I think he was the best but rather like Marcel Dionne, he suffered from being on VERY bad teams through his career. Perhaps the most underrated NHL goalie.
  18. That is true; if for nothing else, it helps in case of injuries to have even a little depth on the blueline.
  19. Most marriages to members of the same family. edit: ok, that's a cheapshot...I'll put myself into the penalty box (no posting for a day) as I'm in a bad mood.
