  1. Yeah this isn't to say he can't develop even further (as he's not that old). I was mainly arguing about the pro scouting which has been hit or miss (mostly miss on the blueline - though Schenn was a welcome surprise but even he is better suited as a depth guy).
  2. Juolevi hasn't even proven himself at the AHL ( not his fault obviously because of injuries) at least with respect to defending. Can put up points though. JB has been trying to get that top 4 D vet for a while now (I view Stecher more of the solid amateur/prospect work he's done) and failed.
  3. Here’s another thing about that playoff series against Turco (and showed the offensive support Luongo had). Turco had THREE friggin’ shutouts against us but we still took that series.
  4. Yeah I should’ve added that in Luongos years in Florida, he was on teams both offensively and defensively inept. I was only comparing the Canuck rosters at the time. No question (at least in my mind) Luongo should be in the HHOF.
  5. Yeah Ducks had an edge in that they already had his brother under contract.
  6. None of those guys (I’m talking 2018/19 versions of Edler, Tanev, Hutton, Stecher) are anywhere close to where Willie Mitchell was (who we DID have....another one of Gillis’s mistakes not be able to keep him around). Guy played near the most minutes per game in the postseason on one of those Cup winning Kings teams. Bieksa? You failed to mention him. Put up 40+ points in 2006/07. Sorry but IMHO, those two sets of bluelines arent comparable. Again not to take anything away from a likely HOFer Luongo but he was a vet when he was starting goalie for us (and yes, on an offensively challenged team at the beginning) but Marky wasn’t/ isn’t. That’s the point I want to make. You could even throw in having a NHL veteran coach (Vigneault-Jack Adams winner) vs a Sophmore Green.
  7. 2011 Hamhuis Edler Salo Bieksa Ehrhoff 2012 Hamhuis Edler Salo Bieksa Tanev (rookie) 2013 Hamhuis Edler Salo Garrison (when he had an uninjured groan) Tanev (sophmore) I never said we had an elite blueline but in comparison to what we have now (even when fully healthy) it sure as **** looks elite. And again, you're ignoring the strength of the forwards we had up front in terms of their defensive skills. We'll just have to agree to disagree. edit: AWFUL trade Keith Ballard I excluded for obvious reasons. Interesting trivia, Jim Benning was the guy responsible pretty much for the excellent scouting work in Buffalo many years ago but guess who drafted Ballard in the 1st round? Buffalo (during the same period Benning did a lot of the scouting). Weird connection eh?
  8. He was smart enough to hire the right head coach. Meanwhile we get Desjardins for three full seasons.
  9. Not to take anything away from Luongo, but when has Marky had five legit top 4 guys in front of him, elite defensive wingers (Burrows in his prime-my opinion) and a Selke winner on his team when he was the starter?
  10. Well those three were point per game players this past season. If Petey didn’t get cheapshot, we’d have one on our team. Their weakness in behind the blue line. But offensive skills generally get paid a premium.
  11. As it relates to hockey, he was a pretty good head coach. Had to Oilers going in the right direction. Fortunately for us, they had Larry, Moe and Curly as the executive management team in Edmonton and decided to replace him with Dallas Eakins.
  12. Why not use the McDonalds motto? Just hire some exCanuck flunky and he can get on the job training. Imagine Dennis Kearns as President. He can ask you if you want ketchup with your fries right away!
  13. Watch their current playoff series. Guy has been MIA. I’ve seen my Grandmother with more intensity and she passed away decades ago. So yeah, he should be getting more Lady votes.
  14. Is that like the difference between country and western music?
  15. Scheer looks the type to have suffered more than a few atomic wedgies.
  16. That's what I delude myself into thinking because my errrr "instrument" is rather small.....it's not how big it is but how well you use it.
  17. Kind of how the **** hit the fan when Tito passed away and the former country of Yugoslavia broke up. He was a dictator but kept all the CENTURIES old hatred between the various groups in check.
