  1. In 2002, we had Ohlund in this prime. Even with only one good eye, he was a guy you could match up against anybody as a shutdown D (him and Iginla were like to gladiators out there battling each other). He also scored ten goals (he did that multiple times so it wasn’t just a fluke like current Canuck Schaller).
  2. He's been probaby the Comets best two-way forward. That should be enough to merit at least a callup. At least over the likes of Schaller who's just collecting his paycheck after lucking out in having a career year in the last year of a contract. Gaunce could've just pouted & sulked after being set down...but he had the right attitude and had a more consistant game in the AHL this season. That kind of ethic should be rewarded. Schaller on the other hand provides nothing that will be missed if he's out of the roster.
  3. You should see what I swallow....but that's for another kind of forum board. Anyhow, back to the discussion...Marky looks like the perfect "placeholder" goalie to have in net until Demko is ready to take over the reigns.
  4. Whitecaps ownership though doesn't deserve any benefit of the doubt with respect to spending money on the team. I hope I'm wrong but echo coast.views' that it's tough to get behind a team with any player that turns out to be good will likely just get "sold" for a tidy profit without that money being all put back into the team.
  5. Who the heck would want Schaller? He's played like a cheaper version of Eriksson as a Canuck. He got lucky in that he had a career year (for him) in a contract year.
  6. Guds is so tough...he doesn’t even use a jockstrap.
  7. Ideally you want matched pairs but the Flyers had six lefties on the blueline (well left of Ryan Strome ) when they went to the finals once...granted having Pronger kind of helps.
  8. I wouldn’t want his type of leadership adversely effecting our prospects down there. Guys like EP, Boeser or soon to be Hughes have enough talent to not be effected. Lesser ones might not be so lucky.
  9. I get what you’re trying to say but IMHO, Linden is a horrible example to use. As a 18 year old when up with the Canucks, he was hitting everything in sight...in practice! Never took a shift off or got discouraged despite being on a very bad team (worse than the low point of this current team...THAT bad). Guy just ozzed leadership from day one. Who the heck was calling the pick a bust? They don’t do that even on the HF boards. You need guys that’ll put up points like Modano but you also need leaders like Linden for the post season ( not like he was offensively challenged). Jeebus, Trev was one of our better forwards on Team Canada in Nagano. Other NHL GMs valued him. Look at the haul we got when Keenan traded him. Bertuzzi, McCabe (one of the main pieces used to get one of the Sedins) and a pick (which we used to draft Jarkko)
  10. He smoke a joint with them and they'd all hold hands and sing:
  11. I don't think anyone has accused the Pats of using drugs.
  12. Just unfortunately for the Comets rivals.
  13. Heh, our cheap owners themselves won’t invest in the team. Whatever one thinks of the Canucks owners, at least they’re willing to pour money back into the team. I figure the Whitecaps owners must be related to the Sens owner (Melnyk)
  14. I would think Seattle would rather weaponize cap space by accepting trash from other teams in exchange for picks. Our "window" will be open for longer (considering age of our prospects/future core) so I don't see the need to give up picks for them to take on Loui. Like a bad case of STD, we're stuck with him (not that I personally would know anything about that - unlike Bone Spurs, I wear protection ) - unless a team like the Yotes have trouble reaching the cap floor.
  15. I'm not sure they even have to wash his jersey after every game (doubt he worked up much of a sweat). Think of the cost savings! That easily helps mitigate the salary he's making.
  16. Only technically with respect to Gagner as he’s just loaned to the Marlies. Still Canucks property/asset.
  17. The fridge scores to make the score 4-3. Bring him up and send Schaller down (but that would be cruel to the Comets LOL).
  18. I neglected to mention a pairing that was used the prior season - Edler & Guds, which I’ll admit didn’t look out of place in a top four assignment.
  19. Guds really isn’t a 2nd pairing guy on this team though. He was with the Panthers but we don’t have the same kind of defenseman he was paired up with in Florida. Maybe once Hughes wears the Canucks jersey but that’s in the near future. Right now, he’s a 3rd pairing guy on this roster with it’s present personnel.
  20. Meh...it's an awful character (Aquaman)...movie was as good as you can expect from a low rent ripoff of the Marvel character Sub Mariner. Not great but not Justice League awful.
  21. Why wait that long? Maybe a demotion to the Comets will wake him up plus the Comets could always use another center since they’ve been so generous with Gagner.
  22. Dang....you know you're old when people accuse you of this.
  23. Net Worth by David Cruise. Gives us a history of what it really was like when the hockey players didn't hold the power.
  24. #1 priority in their scouting is....is the player going to cost a lot? If so, forget about him. Whitecaps ownership makes Melnyk look like Aquaman by comparison. Their motto is, cheap, spend less.
