  1. Miller's no trade clause doesn't come into effect until after this season is over (and I believe it's up to the team that acquires him whether they want to void that part of the contract when they get him). His lackluster (defensive) play aside this season, imho he still has lots of value because of that.
  2. Brock, due to the way his previous contract was structured, had to be given a minimum (qualifying offer) in that range. There wasn't much one could do in that respect.
  3. Not on Boeser's inflated contract. He's worth more to the Canucks than to another team given that he's currently paid on potential. Rathbone can't even get into the lineup so I think his value is extremely limited (better for the Canucks to keep him at this point imho)
  4. You couldn't get McDavid for EP straight up so it's hardly a fair comparison.
  5. Benning drafted (5th round I think) a top 4 D currently for the Florida Panthers (Forsling) that he dealt away for a AHLer who couldn't skate at the NHL level.
  6. I think he can actually backcheck well /solid defensively unlike pretty much all of the forwards Benning had assembled. Important as it place extra strain on the already vulnerable blueline where even Hughes has started to look awful defensively.
  7. Again.. 2014 Canucks: 24 year old Markstrom 24 year old Tanev 28 year old Edler 31 year old Hamhuis (same age as OEL & Myers then actually) Sucked ass up front is that team really that much different than from we have now? What's different is the quality of blueline & forwards are reversed. Forget never having drafted higher than 5th, we would've never likely been able to draft EP or Hughes had we drafted the ONE pick Gillis had in the top ten (9th overall).
  8. Hey we've got a bright future! Only three top 4 D on the blueine & two of them are over 30 years old! Nothing on the farm (well other than guys who can play on the 3rd pairing). Drafting & player development genius!
  9. As to the recapture penalty, I raise you Loui Eriksson & his six million dollar cap retirement contract. At least the Sedins *EACH* were in the top twenty in points Benning's first year. Loui Eriksson scored on his own net in his first game as a Canuck. It was all downhill from there.
  10. Team would've been better off if Willie or Travis were given as long a leash.
  11. I never said I wanted Mike Gillis back. Benning was a failure (and obviously so was Mike Gillis). And that 2013-14 team btw: 23 year old Tanev 24 year old Markstrom 27 year old Edler 30 year old Hamhuis 29 year old Kesler You rebuild from the net out. Benning skipped the important step like a blueline that could actually defend lol. There's no excuse for having an empty farm system after missing the playoffs mostly during Benning's time as GM (that means you get a better draft position particularly in the 1st round). He failed badly at rebuilding.
  12. Look at the present state of the farm system. It sucks as it did under Mike Gillis. A rebuilding team (years of that) should *not* be like that.
  13. Both have their issues imho. Both suck as to customer loyalty (again, my opinion). They treat "new" customers better (eg., rates charged, etc.,). Best to then just play each other off & move to whoever gives you the better deal at the time. Loyalty is a two-way street. If they give it, you give it. If they don't? See yeah.
  14. Jim Benning was also the GM that hired Willie Desjardins & Travis Green. Both minor league coaches. That alone should disqualify him from ever getting the GM job of the Canucks ever again. That and leaving a farm system as empty as the one Mike Gillis left him.
  15. I just switched to Shaw (having been with Telus for DECADES) & they still wanted me to box up their now ancient equipment back. No big deal as I had an old empty suitable box to ship back the stuff to them in.
  16. Hey, we lead the league in something. Time for another banner to be raised at Rogers!
  17. He's a competitor when he wants to be. Unfortunately, he doesn't always want to be. Alain Vigneault, who was his coach once said something to the effect, once JT gets his act together, he'll be something really special. Seems like he's still working on his consistancy today.
  18. Lay off man. Mike Gillis is to blame for this roster that JR inherited.
  19. How about something less violent like a visit to the dentist - Dr. Kassian. Ask Sam Gagner for a referral.
  20. "sucked" as in missing the playoffs just once in the last six seasons as a Canuck. Interestingly he retired the first season after the Ducks missed the postseason (granted his body gave out but still an interesting coincidence).
  21. The thing is, if the Democratic party wasn't the same Democratic Party, her "new" party she seems to be back, sure as **** ain't the GOP party anymore. Barry Goldwater is rolling over in his grave right now. She's a political opportunist which makes her no better than the rest of the "swamp". Worse, in that she claims to be above that.
