  2. Sell the team to the Aquilini's. They, unlike these cheap #$%#% owners will actually spend money on the team.
  3. Ehrhoff was acquired the season before (2009-10 season). Hamhuis was signed in the 2010 off-season. Gillis also signed an undrafted prospect named Christopher Tanev in 2010 off-season. For a GM that inherited a finished core, I guess he actually did something.
  4. Korab was also pretty darn good as well. His style fit in right with where the league was heading. Unfortunately management dealt him not long after the trade. But yeah, Gary "Suitcase" Smith was a real character (played a TON of starts as well back when the travel was REALLY "h, e, double hockey sticks"
  5. You want brutal? Look at his fight with Ryan VandenBussche. I won't post a youtube link to that fight because it's THAT ugly. (Kyperos was bleeding all over the ice as he lay there).
  6. Benning corrected that error by signed Schenn. Unfortunately that still left Poolman on the team.
  7. Burke ridding of that albatross contract in the now well past his prime Federov was nothing short of brilliant. Gave him more cap flexibility to build on his reuniting the Neidermayer brothers.
  8. I guess every GM has an achilles heel. For Burke it was goalies. (the one Cup win Burke has on his resume with the Ducks, he inherited that goalie from the previous regime). edit: I don't want to sound like I thought Burke was an awful GM for us; he just couldn't get a goalie for us. And people forget, he was GM of the Canucks *BEFORE* there was a cap & he was instructed by ownership to slash payroll. That's one tough task (and other than goaltending lol), I thought he did a pretty darn good job).
  9. Brian Burke was the GM for much of that & has to take the bulk of that blame. I bring him up because ironically he was the guy that came up with that term. Under Dave Nonis, we acquired Luongo via trade & drafted Schneider (who was putting up Vezina candidate performances before injuries ended his career).
  10. I think I mentioned this before, but it's REALLY weird how the director of that movie classic "A Christmas Story": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Christmas_Story (sort of "fun for the whole family") *ALSO* directed this REALLY classic horror film (a film that has pretty much influenced all slasher movies including Carpenter's Halloween) much earlier: (that 1974 movie still creeps me out to this day)
  11. Yup. I seriously doubt you'd get even mild interest if Garland (a PROVEN & valuable commodity) for Dobson without adding. 22 year old top four defensemen aren't going to be had for a top 6 winger (let alone an unproven one in Pod).
  12. Sorry but this makes *ZERO* sense. Ryan Miller was the starting goalie for the Canucks the very next season after Luongo went to his retirement home team. Markstrom played 60 starts after Miller left (with a save percentage of 0.912) & the season after that. Goaltending has been the *LEAST* of the team's problems since Dave Nonis was GM. Burke was the GM that couldn't find a starting goalie (lol @ goalie of the future Weeks).
  13. I think we'd have to add (instead of the team getting an additional pick) to get Severson. Regardless of his contract status, Severson plays the most minutes on Jersey. As much as I like Garland, wingers don't hold nearly as much value as defensemen (especially one of Severson's ability).
  14. I wouldn't tell that to Paul Holmgren to his face though. Even though he's now 66 years old, I'm sure he's still one mean mother@%#@$%#$%.
  15. Actually for a defenseman, that's not necessarily a bad thing. It's often when I do notice a defenseman on the ice, it ain't for a good reason.
  16. I suspect part of the problem is that many don't want to live 'far out'; prefer to live where 'everyone else is'. How much that is part of the problem (alot or just a contributing factor) is subject for debate.
  17. Especially since a long-term signed Bo means we'll have at least one forward who is at least passable defensively up front (granted, hopefully the 'new guys' will be able to step in and fill that real need for forwards...particularly centers, who are solid defensively to take some of that pressure off the defense).
  18. Sorry there will only be one Mr. Hand. RIP Ray Walston (hard to believe he passed away over 20 years ago)
  19. Problem was he was only plan B/backup plan. Benning's main target that off-season was Lucic. That's like dodging one bullet only to have a grand piano fall on you.
