  1. Not really. Sure Tkachunk viewed Johnny Hockey as his brother. He called him Abel & Johnny Hockey called him Cain. And we all know how that story ended.
  2. This guy was a free agent signing for us as well by Gillis:
  3. My dreams involves something you'd read in the Penthouse forum sections.
  4. Pederson from what I recall had a big chunk removed from his arm (can’t remember…was it cancerous?). Also can’t remember whether he had the procedure before or after he got dealt to us.
  5. Unlikely as it leaves us with only two legitimate centers (and some 4th line C’s). Only one of the two can really handle defensive duties, while not great, isn’t a liability either. Reason why Miller plays at C instead of his natural winger position. Unless of course a C is coming back in the trade.
  6. In all honesty, for a county that was known as Yugoslavia, having Marshall Tito be "The Big Boss" kept all the religious factions in check who have been at war against each other for centuries & centuries. Was no mere lackey boy of Stalin either.
  7. That’s the thing though with your example (an lopsided trade the other way). Might not always cancel out the negative impact but mitigates it. Like in the case of Mike Keenan tenure here. He ripped the heart of the team when he dealt Linden. But the pieces he got helped firm the key cog in the WCE *AND* an asset to get the pick to draft both Sedins. Also getting a pick to draft Jarku Ruutu was just icing on the cake. But man did Keenan leave a path of destruction. Verbally berated Gelinas all the time. Think there was also the case of a Canucks D that he treated badly? Ledyard? Was the guy that dealt Gino (that likely played some role in Bure wanting out).
  8. Best never to "time" a purchase (much like in stocks). If one is going to "invest" a given amount of amount, spread it over time (unless it's a small purchase then it doesn't really make that much a difference). But that's my viewpoint. I'm hardly a financial advisor lol (looks at my assets & weeps),
  9. The funny thing with the Laffs is that they actually drafted a Vezina winning goalie but in their infinite wisdom dealt him for Raycroft (who ended up being fine for us as a backup, but still a backup). They’ve been forever chasing that dream since lol.
  10. Not mentioned (if it was I missed it) but the drafting of Jim Sandlak I think gave management a false impression that it made Neely redundant, especially after Sandlak’s dominate performance at the World Junior Tournament where he was also Team Canada’s Captain. Unfortunately it was just a case of Sandlak playing against immature players (where he developed far faster physically): Course when Sandlak played against fully grown men, he looked pretty ordinary.
  11. Most people might only think of Ron Delorme at his failures at amateur scouting. Many won’t remember this guy literally (and actually) bled for the organization taking any and all heavyweights during his Canuck playing days. Even if he was overmatched, he NEVER failed to answer the bell. Never forget that.
  12. It’s just as frustrating that Jim Benning couldn’t see that neither of his head coaches picks were ready (or maybe never will be ready). When you see what Boudreau did, you pull your hair out after wasting the ELC years of Horvat, EP, Boeser and Hughes. Only Hughes was really developing regardless of who was coach.
  13. Never really a bad idea holding a bunch of USD as a Canadian. At worst, you’ll be able to use it on excursions south of the border.
  14. It's also his LAST chance to get a big money deal (if he's going to be signing an extension with any real length). It's hardly like he was getting Loui E. money on his current or past deals.
  15. In 1936, Britain actually won the Gold medal in hockey! Granted a lot of the team was ex-pat Canadians (who ended up with the Silver).
  16. Paul Reinhardt comes to mind but he was just THAT good even on the last legs of his career when he became a Canuck.
  17. Decades before the Ghostbusters movie that we all saw & loved was THIS Saturday morning show staring him: I wonder if there were any lawsuits?
  18. The Communist countries for a while had the edge claiming their athletes were amateurs (which was a joke since although they were given ordinary jobs they all trained full time in the state of the art training facilities).
  19. I’d imagine a number would be afraid to state their feelings publicly. I did note one person being interviewed saying the individual did a lot of things for the local community. But then added he was one bad apple.
  20. Are you old enough to have seen Victoria Cougar games back when Curt Fraser was the Captain? I’m asking because I wonder if Fraser got into any scraps with Smyl while the later was Captain of that team. I’ve seen YouTube videos of Fraser taking on a few goons on that Bruins squad (lol, those Bruins fought like the Philadelphia Flyers of the 70s, you fight one guy & a bunch more will jump you).
  21. Be careful of Alf lurking in the alleys there. He might be old but he swings a pretty mean walking cane. The notches on his cane? He records his knockouts. He’s got a turbo charged motorized wheelchair to make a hasty escape.
