  1. Well... I personally can't wait for Saturday's game. Except I won't know which team is which!

  2. Kane didn't even beat up a cabbie. The allegations were false. Why don't we act like friggin adults?

    1. Grouching Out

      Grouching Out

Cuz yer face is gross lol

  3. People from all over the world, including Canada, go to the Mayo Clinic. That place is safe and won't change under Obamacare.
  4. http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news;_ylt=AsKD1fZok7HAZ9G6R39voTs9Eo14?slug=mmajunkie-Ricci_set_for_Bellator&prov=mmajunkie&type=lgns No relation to the former Shark, I believe, but they're bumping this Ricci guy pretty big. Pretty excited for Bellator. I think TheScore shows highlight packages in Canada, but not sure.
  5. Did you guys really learn nothing from my 10-page long anti-commercial nicknames/chants thread?
  6. UFC needs to get Takanori Gomi in the cage with Edgar before he goes in with Penn.
  7. I read a blog tonight that made a good point about how the NBA mis-handled the same situation with referee Joey Crawford. Same situation with Spurs star Tim Duncan. Crawford was suspended and Duncan fined. In San Antonio's first game after the incident, Duncan was ejected after getting a double-technical, and a brutal non-call in a playoff series against the Lakers cost them a game, which the NBA later apologized for. Are the refs close with each other? Yes. If Auger is suspended over this, will there be resentment towards Burrows? Yes. They have to tread carefully. I really haven't read a really good idea over what exactly to do with it in the short-term while the NHL investigates, but a lot of ideas for what not to do. Don't replay the game, don't award the Canucks a point, don't suspend Auger and don't fine or suspend Burrows. Those would just be counter-productive. The real problem here is that Burrows is the hottest player in the NHL right now. He is the top-scoring winger on the line with the NHL's points leader, is first star of the week and a fan favourite in one of the biggest markets in the league. Knowing Vancouver's, er, history, and also knowing what happened when Clarence Campbell suspended Maurice Richard (I know that Burrows is probably not as good as Richard, but we'll let that go for now) you can't do anything with him right now. But you also can't let him get away with this and try and sweep it under the rug. You hit Auger, you hit the refs and the animosity increases. If you ignore it, and instruct an officiating pair to give the Canucks a game, that's unfair to the team they'd be playing. More importantly, this is a serious accusation and Burrows, the Canucks and their fans deserved to have it answered. My temporary solution, based on being up at 3 am and running on one too many colas (Coke, not Pepsi) is the following: -Immediately open an investigation on whether or not the allegations are true. Interview both coaches, Burrows, Auger, Dennis LaRue, Vaughan Rody and Brian Mach. -Immediately open an investigation onto personal vendettas from referees on certain players. Get a team of crack researchers to crunch numbers and determine whether there's a trend, whether certain officials are more likely to call certain players or teams in certain situations, and review those calls made. -Immediately suspend Stephane Auger with pay for all games in which he's scheduled to referee against the Vancouver Canucks. -Send an NHL officials executive to monitor every game played by Stephane Auger and the Vancouver Canucks. -Place Alex Burrows on probation, pending the results of the first investigation. Make sure he's on his absolute best behaviour. If he turns out to be in the wrong, fine him the amount for criticizing an official, but double it for the seriousness of the accusations. If he turns out to be in the right, fire Stephane Auger and charge him with fraud to prevent other vigilante referees. This post was originally posted in one of the zillions of Auger threads in Canucks Talk, but because I hadn't seen a solution anywhere that didn't have major drawbacks, I felt obligated to suggest one. Keep in mind it's 3 am. Comment how you will. I'd rather hear your disagreements. Bonus points will be given if you can write coherently.
  8. I think that's the point. Looks like a hilarious show. But maybe that's because I'm another college kid. BTW, what's with the crowd booing the Lawlor/Simpson decision? One of the better comebacks I've seen.
  9. Probably 4. Winner of Fitch/Alves fights the winner of Daley/Koscheck.
  10. So? I know what I'm talking about. Are you really saying you're so uninformed you need somebody to tell you what's happening? All you need is a good voice, and somebody who won't ruin the moment when it happens. Goldberg is that guy.
  11. Goldberg has a good voice, a good catchphrase ("AND IT IS ALL OVER") and sets the stage well. He'd do better if he weren't always interrupted by Rogan.
  12. I'd qualify Bud Light and Harley as major sponsors, as well several Blockbuster movies that cross-promote. But yeah, until Dana's gone from UFC than the stereotype about MMA will never be gone. That goes for all the promotions as well.
  13. Oh, I'll totally agree that the guy is a total douchebag, and part of the reason why my friends who are 'serious' sports fans will never get into MMA. Being said, he does know the sport, he knows how to get the guys who will put on good fights, and his fighters, with the exception of Fedor and a couple of others, are the best in the world. Also, I think I realized today I don't care for Joe Rogan. He's extremely unprofessional, shows up to fights in tacky clothing, unshaven, high, and prattles on about stuff not relevant to the current fight. He's a good post-fight interviewer, however. Goldberg and Buffer are terrific, but they might want to get a new colour guy. As much as I dislike Frank Mir, he does a good job with WEC broadcasts. Can't wait for the first crop of intelligent fighters to retire and start to broadcast, because I may have had enough of Joe.
  14. Was almost right. KO of the night given to Paul Daley and not dos Santos. I disagree with the decision. Daley caught Hazelett with a strong left hook, but dos Santos was absolutely controlling that fight and then finally dropped Yvel. I guess that Harbinger may have to rethink his stance about UFC heavyweights after that dominant performance. First Cro Cop, now Yvel. Unfortunately, with 5 solid HWs in the UFC not counting Lesnar, that leaves him as the odd-man out, and he'll be without a fight for a while. Cain vs. Minotauro. Mir vs. Carwin. dos Santos vs... ???
  15. He was 172, but Hazelett accepted the fight. 172 is pretty inconsequential, as most fighters are about 10-15 lbs over the limit when it comes time to fight anyway, and they allow up to 1.5 lbs over the weight limit.
  16. Thiago was clearly frustrated at that point. Rashad took a page from teammate GSP's playbook and just dominated the fight early on with takedowns. Only thing Thiago could do was wait it out, but he couldn't land much against Rashad standing up except at the end. I scored it a 28-28 draw, but am pleased with Rashad having won. It wasn't an exciting performance, but it was impressive, and it got the job done, and probably a fight he needed. The last thing a former champ needs is to lose 2 coming off his title victory. Methinks he'll pull out more boxing in his next fight, now that he's secured himself in the contender position.
  17. Didn't do bad on the prediction standpoint. Dos Santos unfortunately credited with the TKO, although I thought he knocked Yvel out with that left hook. Ditto Daley. Good fights, lots of quick endings. I haven't seen a tap out due to strikes in a while, credit to Munoz. KO of night - dos Santos Submission of night - Cole Miller Fight of the night - Stout/Lauzon Lets see what UFC thinks.
  18. Harb you'd like Cole Miller's submission on Dan Lauzon, you like good jiu-jitsu.
  19. Good. UFC needs lightweights. Speaking of lightweights, and as a side-note for tonight: I learned that a couple of friends I had from my elementary/high-school days train with Sam Stout. The dude is apparently nuts when he spars and a huge partier, if I needed any more reason to cheer for him.
  20. All you've done is overrate a bunch of picks. Phil Kessel is the least of the Leafs worries. He has 14 goals in 29 games this year. You never once bring up anything about Kessel's play this year.
  21. I'm looking forward to Daley/Hazelett. It's a fight that probably won't pass the second round. Predictions: Evans defeats Silva - KO Round 2 Daley defeats Hazelett - TKO Round 1 dos Santos defeats Yvel - KO Round 2 Stout defeats Lauzon - Decision Miller defeats Ludwig - TKO Round 3 also Volkmann defeats Kampmann - Decision
  22. hahahahhahahahhaha That's one of the biggest choke jobs I've seen.
  23. Dana White complaining about Mazzagatti again tonight. Strikeforce got the benefit of the officials tonight. McCarthy and Rosenthal. I like Herb Dean too. Usually he's the NSAC #1 guy, so it's no surprise WEC has him tonight. Also, Shane Carwin, my favourite heavyweight, a regular twitter follower, and probably the smartest guy in MMA is expanding his fanbase by adding a facebook page: www.facebook.com/OfficialShaneCarwin
