@Citizen Erased I can actually see that. Between the fatigue of a long playoff run. And the desire to win it. They might not have it in them. But then again Tampa surprised everyone. But I don't see Vegas winning it again.
-
Even with the roster turnover, they have played an awful lot of playoff hockey since they came into the league. You also have to wonder when injuries will catch up to them. Maybe they aren’t 100% going into the season or will suffer them during the season. The more you play, the bigger chance of that happening.

Canucks need to announce a trade soon, time's running out and they're over the cap, Myers bonus has been paid, seems like they're having trouble moving him, could be Beauvillier
-
Just got back from the Drake concert, beautiful new jumbotron that kicks everyone elses ass, also, the Canucks are winning the cup in the next 3 years, have a good evening
-
Elliote Friedmans 32 Thoughts podcast, give it a listen, nothing to worry about regarding Elias Pettersson, he likes the direction of the team under Rich Tocchet, biggest contract of his life, obviously doesn't need wanna rush, also, he's an RFA, we'll still hold his rights
-
Clearly Petey is waiting to see if what management is doing to fix the Benning mess (which was obviously created by our owner’s meddling too) is working and that our owner is staying out of hockey ops before he signs his next contract. I’m sure he remembers the “shocking reset” after the bubble playoff success and how that greatly damaged the team. He doesn’t want to lock in to a long term here and our owner starts meddling again and hires another boob puppet like Benning.
Petey might only sign for as long as Allvin and Tocchet have signed for. IMHAO we will see a 2 year extension. Petey doesn’t trust this owner.
-
Where the Canucks haters at now?? Absolutely massive signing, centre depth is off the charts, and the PK will be top 10. Love being a Canucks fan right now! Lets gooooo!
-
I don't think there are many Canuck haters here. Would be weird if there were. There are people like myself who are cautiously optimistic. Suter and Soucy are great additions. We still don't have a backup I would be very careful how we develop Silovs. Is adding a couple of 4/5 D and a couple of 3/4C going to move the needle? I'm looking fwd to seeing what we have in Hronek.
This season's riding on us playing the pads off Demko we will go as far as he goes.
-
I'm just saying, the Central took a big hit and don't look as competitive as the Pacific anymore, IMO 5 teams from Pacific take 5 of the 8 playoff spots, Canucks one of them

@Ghostsof1915 sadly I think you're right. Nashville took a step forwards without question while it appears the Jets and Flames took the steps back. LA got better, Anaheim is a wildcard due to their goaltending. LA got better. Arizona is still up in the air. I don't see St Louis having a terrible year either and now we're dealing with the Bedard effect.
So it comes down to are we better than Arizona, Anaheim, San Jose, Chicago, Calgary and Winnipeg. The thing is, we don't even have to have them be appreciably better than us. We just have to be mediocre against them and we will miss the playoffs because the teams ahead of us right now are still that far ahead of us.
I still think we'll miss again this year but what happens after is what will matter
-
Canucks should be a 3rd place/1st wild card spot team this year if they can stay healthy, If they can manage to be around .500 in October with that crazy schedule they're in great shape, anything bonus is gravy on top
-
NHL summer league would be sick, like NBA, bunch of prospects just going at it
-
I think next offseason if realistically when the Canucks can start going for a Stanley Cup, contracts coming off the books and another year for the young core to get seasoned, bring in a little support and make 1 or 2 big playoff runs and just get the job done, give yourself atleast 2 cup final appearances with this core
-
Canucks add 3 guys that are gonna help their PK bigtime, hope this defence gels under Adam Foote and Sergei Gonchar, and Teddy Bluegar was on my wishlist, one of the best value forwards in the league
-
Should be an interesting free agency, a lot of names being linked to the Canucks when I thought it would be quiet
-
Canucks have also checked in on towering defenceman Ryan Graves outta New Jersey, amongst others, don't think there's a fit there though. I'm confident one of Soucy or Foote will be a Canuck come Saturday, Ian Cole chatter has also been put on hold for now
-
Canucks select the defenceman with the highest upside in this draft, Tom Willander, a mean piece of business, who is right handed. They fill a very big positional need

@Devron at least that's what I'm telling myself right now If we got the McAvoy of this draft then hot damn that's a win.
-
@Sean Monahan I'd be plenty happy with a Sergachev or Chycrun too
-
Big day coming up, Canucks have a chance to potentially draft a massive part of their d-core in the 2nd or 3rd most loaded draft in 100 years, Simashev, Reinbacher, Sandin-Pelikka and Willander all possibilities, while a stud forward like Benson could fall to 11. Danielson is another possibility
-
Dialogue between the Canucks And Rangers picked up this afternoon regarding Brock Boeser, also Conor Garland to Toronto Maple Leafs chatter, nothing serious but the Leafs are kicking tires on him
-
Vegas has no future, they'll win the cup tonight and then won't be heard from for 7 or 8 years, old team, capped out, as a Canucks fan Im excited about the next 7 years, we have an elite young core, just need to surround it, need to shed some contracts this summer as well

@shiznak I'm a couple months shy of 30 and I'd probably take a cup next year followed by decades of mediocrity/ineptitude the rest of my life.
-
I have a legit source that has been told the Canucks are and have been frantically working the phone lines in June to not only make a trade but a big one ahead of the draft

I genuinely don't believe there are many true powerhouses in this league. Boston is the only truly dominant team, and a lot of their players are on the older side. Parity makes this league a lot more interesting, and things change substantially from year to year.
I also genuinely don't believe many teams have three better impact players than Petey, Huggy, and Demmer. If we make smart choices in the next 12-24 months, we can keep up with any of these teams.
-
Trade the 1st round pick, package it up with Brock who has more trade value now and get assets back, the pick is 11th anyway, they can't keep wasting more prime years of Miller, Petey, Hughes, Demko and even Kuzmenko, they already wasted Horvats, gotta try to win a cup with this core in the next 2 to 3 seasons
-
I don't think we really need to package anything with Boeser, as "overpaid" as he is, he'd have value in the eyes of teams that want/ need to revamp their roster to stay competitive (e.g. Boeser to Pittsburgh for Rutta [slightly overpaid 3rd pair RHD], Hallander [C prospect in development] and a pick would replace Zucker well).
-
LOL Flames, what a disaster, Canucks will finish 15 points ahead of those peasants next season
-
@fanfor42 i guess I hate the flames more than most but tbh their goaltending was godawful all year long. Replace Marky with an average goaltender and they comfortably would be in a playoff position right now. Thank god they are not (although a quick, first round sweep would have been also hilarious), but they are not that awful as a team, it's the goaltending that did them in, no question about it.
-
Canucks better hope this "structure" continues next season, otherwise they wasted a crazy opportunity to draft a franchise player in the top 5 of this draft

@Cup_Joneser That's not tanking though. A very poor job tanking, but credit is worth giving to for a team that has no quit. This team has the raw potential to go further than where it is now. Too many 1 goal losses.
-
Oilers, Leafs, Jets all gonna lose in round 1. EDM still has no goaltending and Ekholm has been underwhelming, TOR has injury problems while their star Matthews is having a sub par season, and the Jets, if they get in, are a circus on the ice, GO CANUCKS next season we got this

well tampa has been winning more regulation games then TO. the past few years combined 2019,2020 and 2021 playoffs the top two teams have been Colorado and Tampa for regulation wins.
Colorado is not the same team this year as last year, they have been winning alot of 3v3, i think of all the playoff contenders they are ranked last. their record would be 28-22 without OT.

The Canucks are one of 4 teams in a bidding war for Winnipeg Jets defenceman Logan Stanley
