  1. I’m starting to wonder if Miller might end up the team leader in scoring this year. He’s really good.
  2. I wonder if I’m going to be able to keep it together watching all this Sedin-infused nostalgia. Not even 5 yet and a Sedin story running on Wednesday Night Hockey got me in the feels. At their height, the Sedin’s headlined the best era of Canucks hockey. They deserve all of this.
  3. Big game. Not only can it be a nice bounce back from the the showing in Boston...but a win here and this road trip can be viewed as a very good one. Lose...and it looks a bit mediocre given that this team has started to raise expectations among the fanbase. Let’s gooooooooooooo!
  4. Over the past week I’ve been fortunate to see both Rathbone and Woo play in glorious HD on my 55” TV. I’ve always been one to try to keep my expectations in check somewhat....but saying that, both of these guys REALLY impressed me. Differently styles, Jack more offensively orientated while Woo looks to be a future eraser on the defensive end. Loved how Rathbone really drove play. I’m not up to date on Jack’s plans to turn pro if those have come to light recently....but from what I see I say.....young man, GET THEE TO UTICA! In the Harvard-Northeastern game I thought Rathbone outshone Madden by a considerable margin. Curiously quiet game for Madden....but his team did win. Really like the Woo-Bieksa comparisons FWIW.
  5. I don’t know. Speed looked pretty elite on an end to end rush just now. Just about tucked it in on the wraparound.
  6. Oh man. Both of our guys can really skate. Rathbone plays a ton...seems like he’s on the ice every second shift. Saw him cough up the puck at the far blue line, but he turned on the jets to break up an odd-man chance my Northeastern. No surprise that a couple of NHL prospects clearly stand out....but our boys skill sets really pop. Just want to see a Rathbone howitzer from the point now.
  7. Just caught up to the part where Madden got decked. Yup, he was blown up real good. Clean hit. Now watching for his assist.
  8. Looks I’ll start watching this around 3pm. I blame the Super Bowl and the excess that accompany it for my late gym start. Which is actually not terrible because I can let the PVR record for an hour and then I should be able to skip most of the commercials before I catch up to the live broadcast. PVR might be right up there with the wheel in terms of mankind’s greatest inventions. Anyone happen to agree? Beer is right up there too of course.
  9. What a nice little post-Super Bowl bonus on a Monday afternoon....a chance to see two of our better prospects go at it in the same game. I’ve seen Madden play more than Rathbone, so I’m really looking forward to see how Jack looks to my eye since I last watched him in person in prospects camp. What I saw then was a big, showy skill set in terms of a huge shot and powerful skating...but also a lack of refinement in certain areas...like puck skills. Look forward to seeing how he has progressed. What can be said about Tyler Madden? Looking to be a 3rd round gift from the hockey gods. I’ll get my gym session in today and come home to watch this live and perhaps post some of my impressions.
  10. Just looked at the NHL.com stats section. QH is 8th in NHL scoring among ALL NHL DEFENSEMEN.
  11. I’m on my way to this opinion as well. Also thinking that this may have been Quinn’s best overall game of his career. Some of his defensive plays were amazing as well today.
  12. One more goal would make this considerably less stressful.
  13. I wonder if Petey is wearing down just a little bit. I don’t anticipate him falling off a cliff like last year....but I’m seeing signs of a lack of his usual sharpness.
  14. Lol, no. Retired. Still a pretty good gig. Haven’t missed a Canuck Training Camp since I pulled the chute on my career. That has been one of the many cool perks thus far.
  15. I haven’t read most of this thread, having been at the gym for a good portion of the day, so I don’t know if anyone has said this or anything similar.... but I have a feeling this game will tell us a great deal about this young Canuck team. In the past, coming off a big win against an elite team (the Blues) and going into a game against someone of lesser ilk (though the Sharks have won 4 straight at home) the Canucks have been known to sort of take the foot off the gas pedal. Has our Young Core learned enough now to recognize the opportunity not only tonight’s game provides, but also recognize how attainable the playoffs actually are? If they lay the hammer down on San Jose tonight I think it might be sign that another important step has been taken by this team. I cannot wait for playoff hockey in our city again. Be it a first round series win, series loss but getting a few wins, or getting swept....I don’t really care at this point. I just want that FEELING again heading into that first playoff game. Put the boots to the Sharks tonight boys and let’s continue our march to having some Spring time playoff hockey.
  16. Pod comparisons to Messier were soooooo one month ago. But since this topic has flared up again I’ll standby my original opinion that stylistically, it’s not an off base comparison. Messier in is prime, say what you want about him, was a tremendous PITA to play against - before he came to Van to cash some big cheques. There are signs that Podz could be that for us. A less weasely Matt Tkachuk perhaps.
