  1. I definitely think there is something to the rumours that Boudreau might not be back next year. His demeanour in his pressers is much less animated than previously. I’d almost describe him as “dour” these days. Then you have the rather lukewarm endorsements by Rutherford’s padawan Allvin. From Bruce’s side, he’s more an East coast guy than West coast….so he may be interested in some jobs that might be available back East, closer to home for him. But then again, it could be I could absolutely be reading into something that’s not there. When you’ve lived as long as I have you just tend to get “gut feelings” about things based on a lot of life expereince.
  2. Of those 3 I’d only really consider Chaisson. But I’d prefer they try to upgrade beyond him. Seen all I need to see with Petan, and while Hunt has been great in his role, time to replace him with Rathbone.
  3. I’d urge folks to find some Rathbone highlights from recent Abby Canuck games. Kid plays with a flair that is very entertaining. In his “tryout” to begin this season I think Green and his staff were trying to coach his innate hockey instincts out of him. When he gets up here I hope he’s told to do what he does best…which is skate fast and shoot hard. While of course trying to be defensively mindful.
  4. Our tepid performance on home ice is one of the most frustrating things about this season. For all the plaudits that Boudreau has deserved, I’m disappointed he hasn’t been able to crack the case on this one thus far.
  5. Lol, if you play in the NHL there is no arguing the fact that you are amongst the elite in terms of human achievement. And of course there are other avenues of success.
  6. I’m honestly happy for the guy and stories like this are part of what make hockey great. The honest truth is that the haters behind their keyboards will never have a fraction of the success in their lives as even a “fringe” NHL’er like Chaisson and its probably the unconscious realization of this that causes it.
  7. Not interested in “naming names” but I saw things that disrespected the captain, simple as that. But anyway, seen lots of flip flopping back towards loving Bo now so hopefully thats all in the past. Yeah, Bo isn’t the most physical of players and he’s never been much of a hitter. But I bet players on other teams would tell you that he’s a beast and a pain in the ass to play against.
  8. I think its been confirmed that whatever Quinn has is the same thing that Bo did. Shows you what kind of rock Horvat is that he tried to play through it….and not only did he come back the next game but he continued his torrid goal scoring streak. The effin Captain of the Canucks. Shame on those who doubted him.
  9. Can’t wait to have Rathbone up with the big team and FINALLY have a player with a bomb of a shot from the point. And yeah, just the THREAT of that shot sets up so many options for decoys and fakes. I think I need to head to Abby to catch some playoff games.
  10. Ok, time to end the crappy play on home ice boys! I want them to wreck San Jose tonight. A strong game tonight would signal to me that perhaps, just perhaps, that not all hope is lost for a playoff push. But let’s face it, our chances are rather miniscule. But its sometimes fun to dream! I’m all in on Bo’s quest towards a 35 goal season.
  11. Well, the media can’t rip Allvin for his interviews because he says absolutely NOTHING. Agreed on your last comment on Miller. I’ve always had a gut feeling he’d prefer to play in the U.S.. But I’ve also always said I’ll be happy to be wrong and that if he stays here for a contract and term that won’t wreck our cap situation for years to come….I’d love for him to stay. But the potential return for him is compelling as well. Not that I trust them completely yet….but I’m just gonna have to put my faith in GMJR and his padawan apprentice.
  12. Now that we are nostalgically looking back on ol’ Jimbo’s reign, I tend to think his crowning achievement was the JT Miller trade. Even if we don’t sign him, if the new Jimbo and his padawan Allvin do their job right, we should get quite a nice haul for him this offseason. I’m basically going to judge this new regime on what happens with Miller. I’ve mentioned it before, but Allvin is so underwhelming in his media appearances. Heard him on the radio yesterday and my god Benning was a damn wordsmith compared to him.
  13. So a couple of inches taller and about 15 pounds heavier than Quinn? Sounds about right.
  14. I said a long time ago that Jack was jacked. Quite a bit bigger, especially thicker, than Quinn Hughes so I’ve always had confidence his defensive game could improve like Quinn’s has.
  15. He’s not even close to his final form yet. Scary to think about. Especially for the opposition.
  16. I’m starting to be able to visualize this team without Boeser now. Kind of hurts to come to this point as I really like the person and the player he USED to be. Not saying he can’t be that again….but it just might not be here. I’ll include Garland in with Brock, though I like him too. Demko, Petey, Bo, Quinn, Podz and perhaps JT (if he cuts the team a bit of a break on his next contract) are the core I want the new management team to build around. It really sucks that our prospect pipeline is so thin, as this is when you would be wanting to inject some young talent with cheaper contracts as you have to re-up the veterans. I hope this new management team is up to the task.
  17. Not what folks will wanna hear, but Chaisson was a shrewd move by Benning.
  18. And if you notice he’s hanging onto the puck longer as the NHL game starts to slow down for him. So excited for what the future Podz will look like. The power forward we’ve been trying to find for decades.
  19. I’ll bet y’all that Bo will defer the belt so Chaisson can have it. Do you know why? Because he’s a great captain. And man, he’s been dominant tonight. I mentioned it in the dedicated Horvat thread earlier, but I want Bo to retire a Canuck.
  20. To expect him to be “Bubble Bo” during the majority of the regular season is beyond unrealistic. Bo has shown that he’s a guy who is built for playoffs and can raise his level, like he did in the bubble. Which is a shame that he won’t get a chance to show it again this year. But Bo himself is NOT to blame whatsoever for us not getting us to the playoffs this year. He’s had a GREAT season overall, even though as with every player on the team not named JT Miller, there are always ebbs and flows. And do some more research on his COVID bout….it was hinted HEAVILY he struggled for a couple of weeks after he returned from it. And yeah, those were the weeks in which people wanted him stripped of the C and traded in the offseason. I’ve been defending Bo all over this forum for many many weeks now, so I highly doubt you think higher of him than me. I want him to end his career as Captain of the Canucks….as did the mentor for his captaincy, Hank Sedin. If I’ve been a bit strong here and mischaracterized your arguments somewhat, my bad. Its just that I’ve been rather disgusted at the way he’s been disparaged at times this season. Bo is a rock and a foundational piece of this team. But I think from now on I’ll just let his play be his greatest advocate. The way he’s going he’s got a shot for 35+ goals. Getting a hatty tonight would help the cause.
