  1. Ugh, Patterson. Gave his podcast a try during my run today. I quit listening to it just because the negativity had become toxic, even for his standards. I figured, heck, the narrative around the team has improved immensely since I listened to it. And I swear the guy’s brain must be genetically wired to seek out ANY negative things around the team, because listening today you’d never guess this was a 10-3 team in it’s last 13 (or whatever the exact record is). Between J-Pat, Drance and Sekeres it’s tough slogging in the local market.
  2. So what about Quinn Hughes. Green didn’t seem to ruin him. But I guess Green is just carefully selective in which player he wrecks.
  3. You can’t reason with some of these people, lol. Imagine trying to link Green with Elias’ struggles this season.
  4. Not gonna lie, there is just the slightest temptation to name some folks on the board who were open to the idea of trading Quinn Hughes. But I’m going to take the high road tonight.
  5. The humour is appreciated because at this point, as a hockey fan who cherishes the games over the holidays (both nhl and world juniors), this is a very sad time.
  6. Alf, I’ve kind of come around to the idea that you are a bit of a treasure, but this aspect of your fandom has always been rather unfortunate in my opinion and can overshadow the fact that you actually know a fair bit about hockey. On another subject….I was looking at the team stats for the Red Wings today. Imagine being Wings fan stuck with Zadina (10 points, -9) knowing that Quinn Hughes was RIGHT THERE for you to pick.
  7. Not really seeing a transferable NHL skill in young Zlodeyev thus far. But hopefully they will materialize over the course of the tourney.
  8. Yeah, valid point. It’s just that I think I’m ready to see some non-Penguin content join the Canuck fold.
  9. This is why, or partially why, I’ve been lukewarm on Rutherford. Talks an ok game ( ok, compared to Jimbo he’s a Master Communicator), but he’s a man of yesteryear. This isn’t me being ageist…I’m no spring chicken myself. His moves thus far, while its still early I’ll grant you, show a distinct lack of creativity and vision….and bringing in more ex Penguins will only cement my opinion of him in this regard.
  10. Had a bit of time to kill before heading out for a few last minute Christmas errands…and yeah, didn’t take long to find some truly mindblowing threads in the Trade Proposal section. Someone floated the idea of trading Quinn for a package including PK Subban and Ty Smith. Ty Smith with his 8 points and -12 this year. I’m not out to embarrass anyone so I’ll not mention those that were seemingly fine to trade away the best defenseman, by far, we’ve ever had.
  11. Ah, former member of the Trade Quinn brigade perhaps?
  12. And quite a few folks around here floated the idea of trading him, lol.
  13. Some folks still want to cling to the idea that the NHL isn’t a business enterprise whose primary goal is to generate maximum revenue. If 4pm doesn’t work for me on a particular day I’ll just PVR the game and watch it at 7 anyway.
  14. I’m fine with a pause in the season. Hopefully we get through this, get our full line up back and continue our streak of wins. I desperately want this team to make the playoffs, not only because they are my team, win or lose, but also so that the Vancouver media jackals that wrote them off have to choke on the fact that they were wrong.
  15. Didn’t know the Poolman was even a possibility for tonight. If he plays, that is actually a significant boost to our chances of winning. And that says all you need to know about the current state of our D.
  16. If I were Boudreau I’d approach Quinn and ask him him if he’d be up to playing every other shift on D. The way he skates I think he could do it. And I think with the swagger he has, Quinn would embrace it. What’s the record amount of minutes played by a D-man in a 60 minute game?
  17. Looks like if you are able to ice a team (regardless of the roster quality) you have to play. The Canucks are right on the precipice right now.
  18. Two (maybe two and a half if you consider Burroughs a fringe NHL’er) legit NHL defencemen in our lineup tonight. it’s actually surreal to look at that D-core.
