  1. Agree on his mobility which is great against the rush, but when things start cycling down deep his lack of physical strength becomes apparent. But again, I love the kid overall. No panic here.
  2. I actually liked his effort in his own zone a few times, but eventually he just seems to get either out muscled or he starts to drift out of position and start chasing. Love the kid and I still expect him to be better defensively this year than last.
  3. Liked our first half of the period and overall I think there are some good things to build on. Hogs was dominant, Podz flashed a few times. OEL is really good. Demko was Demko. Rathbone-Burroughs solid. Myers….uh…err. Hughes and Petey still look to have a bit of rust. Oilers D looks vulnerable to me and Mike Smith could become terrible at any moment so the game is still right there for us.
  4. Ah, here is the sign of a knowledgeable hockey follower. Could very well be that Green is seeing some signs of Hog being a little bit content with what he did last year and not pushing it into another gear and this is being done to light a fire under him. Maybe coasting a bit in practice? Remember Green sitting Brock for his first 2 games as a rookie? Seemed to have worked out. Of course, this kind of thing is lost on the “DOWLING INSTEAD HOGZ ON PP2?!!! GREEN SUX!! FIRE HIS A**!!!!”. It is very likely there is a deeper reason than what the FIRE GREEN mob says. I highly doubt Green thinks Dowling is a better player than Hog. I’ve always maintained that the rush to fire the coach is some of the laziest hockey commentary there is. But in saying that, pretty much every coach is eventually fired, and very likely this will be Green’s fate at some point. This just ain’t the time. Someone mentioned he could be gone if we have a poor first 40 games. As much as I like TG, I wouldn’t have much cause to oppose such a move. Last year, effed up as it was, I won’t lay what happened at the feet of Green. But this is a HUGE year and we MUST show real progress. JUST OVER 3 HOURS TILL PUCK DROP
  5. Oh, it’s not just you. Angst is clearly very high. I’m trying my best to talk some folks down from the ledge and let things play out for a handful of games, but CDC is gonna CDC, as the kids say. Anyway, it’s gym time. Looking forward to more Canuck talk in the lead up to game time. Our Canucks are BACK!
  6. Agree that Schenn would bring some truculence and heft to the lineup. But truth be told, he’s looked borderline terrible in the pre-season, which surprised the hell out of me.
  7. But how about we give the team 10 games or so before we start calling for firings? Is that too much to ask? Having to wade through the FIRE GREEN stuff before his apparently “stupid” moves have even failed is….a bit much. And you Green haters sure tend to hang onto the past. If Dowling pops a goal on PP2 tonight, I’ll be tracking you down you can be sure of that.
  8. Forward group looks decent, even without Boeser. If Myers can just eliminate some of his bonehead gaffs I actually really like the quality of our top 4. Always loved Rathbone and the coaches obviously see something in Burroughs….even though I saw more potential in Bowey myself. But the coaches know more than me….and everyone else on this forum for that matter. Very encouraged that Boeser is on the road trip which surely means, barring a setback, he will play….you KNOW he will play.
