The 19 straight home wins is a Kelowna record, surpassing the streak set by the 2002-03 Kelowna Rockets. Overall the Rockets franchise record is 24, set by the 1992-93 Tacoma Rockets. "We wanted to be a better home team this year," said Rockets coach Ryan Huska on the AM 1150 post game show. "Our guys have done a great job of bringing that pride back into the jersey. After a scoreless first period, the Rockets scored five straight goals in the second period to take control of the game. Six different Rockets scored on the night including defenceman MacKenzie Johnston, who scored his first goal of the season and also added an assist. Back home Sunday at 5 p.m. Share Dec. 28, 2012 - Vancouver, BC The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Vancouver Giants 5-3 on Friday night at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, winning its second straight game since returning from the Western Hockey League's Christmas break. Dylen McKinley scored twice while Cody Fowlie, Tyrell Goulbourne and Cole Martin also scored for Kelowna. Vancouver outshot Kelowna 27-19 in the game but the Rockets scored two third period goals to snare the win. Jackson Whistle earned his second straight win in net for the Rockets, after Thursday night's 7-3 win over Kamloops. Attendance in Vancouver was 9,414. Kelowna is off Saturday but is back in action on Sunday when they put a 13-game home winning streak on the line against Everett. It's a special 5 p.m. start and is also a fundraiser for the Kelowna Community Food Bank. Fans are asked to bring a non-perishable food item and help fill the Pepsi Truck. After taking a 1-0 lead after the first period, the Rockets broke the game open with five goals in the second period en route to the win. Kelowna is now 14-2-0-0 at Prospera Place and 24-10-1-1 overall, good for third place in the WHL Western Conference. Five different Rockets hit the scoresheet as the team won its 10th game in its past 11 to improve to 22-9-1-1 on the season. Tyson Baillie, Damon Severson, Myles Bell, Henrik Nyberg and Dylen McKinlay scored the Rockets, who recorded wins against Kooteany and Lethbridge to open the road trip. Jordon Cooke earned the win in net, facing 22 shots while the Rockets fired 39 shots at the Tigers' nets. Share Nov. 30, 2012 - Kelowna, BC The Kelowna Rockets extended its home winning streak to 10 games on Friday night at Prospera Place, scoring a 3-2 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors in a fast-paced and entertaining game in Kelowna. Henrik Nyberg used a burst of speed to get in alone on Moose Jaw netminder Daniel Wapple and buried the game winner late in the third period to give the Rockets the win. Check out some photos from the game here Damon Severson and Ryan Olsen also scored for the Rockets, who outshot the Warriors 34-20 in the game. Wapple was the game's first star, keeping Kelowna at bay for most of the night. Shots in the first period were 17-2 for Kelowna, but the score was only 1-0 Rockets. The Rockets led 2-0 in the second period but allowed the Warriors back into the game. Sam Firoetti and Braiden Doucette scored to tie the game, setting the stage for Nyberg's winner. The Rockets are back in action Saturday night as they travel to Seattle for a game against the Thunderbirds. Kelowna returns to Prospera Place next week for its final two homes games before Christmas, hosting Swift Current on Wednesday and Prince George on Friday. Nov. 28, 2012 - Kelowna, BC The Kelowna Rockets edged the Tri-City Americans 3-2 on Wednesday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, extending its home winning streak to nine games. Dylen McKinlay scored the winning goal midway through the second period to give the Rockets the lead and the team clamped down in the third period, allowing just six Tri-City shots in the period. "It was a nice play by (Colton) Heffley," said McKinlay, on the Am 1150 post game show. "I try that move a lot. It finally worked and it was nice to see it go in the net." Myles Bell added two first period markers, giving him a team-leading 17 on the season. Jordon Cooke earned the win in the Rockets nets, as the team improved to 16-8-1-1 on the season and 10-2-0-0 at Prospera Place. Check some pictures from the game here "I thought Tri-City skated well tonight and did a good job of stretching us out in the neutral zone," said Rockets coach Ryan Huska on the AM 1150 post game show. "But I don't think it was a sharp night for us. If you look at the games over the last while it's been fairly easy for us. Tonight we came out flat and we weren't as sharp." Drydn Dow and Connor Rankin scored for the Americans. Kelowna now gets set for a two game weekend. On Friday the Rockets will put its nine game home winning streak on the line when they host the Moose Jaw Warriors. Then the Rockets will travel to Seattle to play the Thunderbirds on Saturday.
