  1. Ya possibly, maybe I was wrong saying ppg. Really close either way, it's not a bad thing to be on par with Nylander. He's a pretty great NHL player, who was more impressive in the SHL is more a personal opinion. Both are great.
  2. These guys seemed legit. By no means we're they trying to downplay what Pettersson is doing, just honestly felt that Nylanders season was more impressive because he was on a much weaker team and putting up the same ppg. They weren't Leaf fans, they were guys that live in Europe and watch the SHL. I'm guessing they might be changing their minds soon though if Pettersson keeps up this pace.
  3. Interesting about the Nylander comparison. Over on HFboards there are some posters who religiously watch and go to SHL games that were saying that what Nylander did last year was much more impressive than what Pettersson is doing this year just due to the quality of the teams. Nylander basically carried that team on his back, he took a $&!# team into the playoffs. The year after he left they were relegated I think, while Vaxjo is a powerhouse and Pettersson has lots of talent around him. Interesting to hear that these guys think the exact opposite
  4. I went through a lot of draft picks to check their draft weight compared to their fully grown weight and most guys put on around 20lbs. Most likely Pettersson will end up around the 180-190lb range which will be fine. The Sedins have done fine for being slender and 185lbs. I can only see it being a problem if he is like his brother and only ends up being in the 175lb range, in that case he'll probably still be a great NHL player but will most likely be a winger and maybe not as dominant as we all hope.
  5. He did? I searched far and wide and saw nothing about Forsberg weighing 165lbs at the draft. All I could find was this pick. Looks pretty solid to me
  6. How great would it be for Benning to snag another 1st this year with all the high end D prospects available...
  7. I think Pettersson will end up as a center in the NHL, his defensive game is too strong to have him on the wing. Maybe for his first few years while he gains size and strength he'll have to be a winger but if Turris can be a quality NHL center as a tall skinny guy than Pettersson can do it as well
  8. 8 Days since any updates on Juolevi. Anybody catch any of his games or have any updates on his play of late?
  9. Also Brock played with some pretty dam good linemates and he seems to be doing quite well in the NHL.
  10. True but it also took the Sedins until their D+6 year to score over 50pts. Same with Turris who is a tall skinny guy. Wasn't until 7 years post draft he put up over 50pts. Elias will be an elite player for us no doubt. Might take some patience though
  11. Ehlers is an absolutely elite skater though. A guy can get away with being small if he has elite skating like Ehlers or Gaudreau (probably the best edgework in the league). Pettersson doesn't really have that.
  12. Both Steenbergen and Phillips are 98' born just like Lind. Lind was just drafted a year later because he is born just after the cutoff date in Oct. The only difference is that this is Steenbergen's 4th full year in the WHL vs the 3rd full year for Phillips and LInd.
  13. I could see Gaudette getting a spot if the Sedins retire. He's not just a pure offensive forward and can play a solid responsible 200ft game, also he's 21 now so he's more physically mature than Petterson. Judging by Stecher and Boeser being able to step onto the team right away I feel the NCAA is pretty good for preparing guys to play in the NHL. Pettersson has the skill but still needs a year or so to get stronger to be ready for the rigors of the NHL.
  14. Read something that had Trent Cull talking about how great him and Chatfield have been for the Comets. Both have just been rock solid and really impressive for first year pro's. That's all I got
  15. Didn't he played this morning?
  16. Good stuff. Always good to see how prospects stack up against their peers, will be a good opportunity for LInd to showcase himself for a WJC selection as well.
  17. No he's pointing out that 2nd round picks can put up over 2 ppg in that league. Putting up anywhere near a ppg in the SHL as a 19 year old is producing at an elite level. Nicklas Backstrom had 40pts in 45 games in his D+1. If Pettersson can put up close to that he's producing at an elite level
  18. Any word on when Juolevi may play his first game?
  19. Correct me if I'm wrong but if Pettersson only ends up around .5ppg that is still very good for a 19 year old playing in the SHL. Backstrom had 26pts in 46 games in his 19 year old season Nylander had 20pts in 21 games in his 19 year old season Hopefully Pettersson can put up somewhere between those ranges. Nylander was more physically developed than Pettersson at his age so that should be taken into consideration since Pettersson is a complete bean pole.
  20. I think he does, I remember reading a quote from his coach in the OHL where he said when Jonah first came into the league a few guys tried to fight him and he destroyed them. From then on everyone was too afraid to fight with him. I think Jonah has plenty of mean streak, he just need to get his skating up to par and he'll be a pain in the ass to play against for us.
  21. I'm def not saying Mete will be better in the long run, just right now judging by they're play last year and play in camp Mete seems to be further ahead in development. It probably has to do a lot with their playing styles, Mete stands out a lot more as a fast puck moving offensive guy whereas Juolevi plays a safe quiet game. It just bothers me when people make lame excuses for average play or downplay another player/prospect to feel better about how a Canuck prospect is doing.
  22. But he didn't, he's been average. Mete is doing what Stecher did last year. It's ok to give props where props are due. Mete played incredible last season for the Knights on the top pairing and is now turning heads in Montreal. Its not because they have a $&!# defense, it's because he's good and at this point better than Juolevi.
  23. Mete is on the Verge of cracking the Canadiens roster after being phenomenal in camp. I think it's safe to say Mete was on the top pairing because he was better.
