Dam....Did he catch that with the back of his leg or did Kapenen just not lift it over his pad?
-
Yup. Here it is. I was just skim reading. Nothing to see here folks! Boeser potting 30 with the Canucks next yeat confimed.
-
Ya that's possible. I remember the quote from last year and i did think it was strange for them both to state another year would be good for him this early in the season this year. Gotta pay attention to those dates.
-
He'll stay in College if he's not joining the Canucks. He and Benning have been quoted this year saying another year in College would be good for his development

I don't believe Lockwood got an invite

There is no information on when he suffered the actual injury just that he was playing with it for a while. All we know is that he had I believe 3 points in 8 games leading up to this. That's 4 weekends of hockey, I doubt he tried to play that long with an injury before taking himself out of the lineup.

I think what we see is what we'll get with Juolevi. Smooth skater, always in position, rarely makes any big mistakes, good passer but at the same time will rarely make any great plays, wont be up in the rush very much. Will always be in position but wont wow you with board battle wins. He'll be a solid top 4 guy. Probabaly top pairing but just to compliment another better defender if we have one.
-
Anyone else really underwhelmed with Juolevis play tonight?
-
Nice. Thx for the heads up

Gaunce is a different beast then a guy like Rodin though and it could work out in his favor. Pure offensive guys like Rodin have to come into the league and score. They dont really get 2 -3 years to figure out the league and develop where as a guy like Gaunce can come in, work hard and soley focus on being devensively responsible and just work his ass off and keep a spot in the lineup. As he gets better and more comfortable over the years he can work his way up as injuries happen, start to put more focus on contributing offensively. Look at how Burrows and Hansen came into the league and where they're at now. You'd never think that they would be anything more than just grinders but hard work and a little bit of talent, which Gaunce has can lead to a great player. I think Gaunce will surprise in a few years and start to move up the lineup

I'd be completely fine with him doing another year in Junior. Right now barring any trades he'd be a 7th d man anyway. Edler Tanev Hutton Gudbranson Stecher Tryamkin And that's assuming Sbisa get's picked up by Vegas. I really don't want to see any more prospects rushed. We have the depth now (on d anyway) to let our prospects develop properly. There is absolutely no need to hurry Juolevi to play with us except for fan excitement. Let him have a few summers of weight training, all that's going to happen is he's going to get injured after getting smoked battling in the corners with 200+lb NHL forwards. You should see the hit Sergachev laid on him, Juolevi went flying. Surprised he didn't get injured.
-
Edler - Tanev Hutton - Gudbranson Tryamkin - Stecher Juolevi? Edler isn't getting traded. It would be crazy to trade one of Tanev, Hutton, Stecher or Tryamkin. I wouldn't mind seeing Gudbranson go but that just doesn't seem like a Benning thing to do. Being a 7th d man is not the best route for development. I mean injuries are bound to happen but banking on them so a guy gets playing time?

That would be fantastic If we can get a Stepan type player out of Gaudette. If lockwood could come out as a high energy Hansen type player then we've got the type of players in the system that help a team win games.

Defense will definitely be loaded with Neil, Olsen and Briesbois making the jump. I'd bet that Juolevi will be in Utica as well. We're too deep on d for him to crack the lineup and it's a great thing for our team and his development. I'm so sick of seeing our prospects make the team too early and struggle becuase we have no depth. Give Juolevi a full year in the AHL and he'll have had 2 full summers to hit the gym and get stronger and more ready for the NHL. That will be 4 solid d prospects with Utica. Juolevi, Briesbois, Neil and Olson. With that many guys I wonder if Olson woils make the team. He sure looked shaky during prospects camp. Either way it's looking good for our defense moving forward thats for sure. If one of Briesbois, Neil or Olson come in and surprise and look like they could be a top 4 NHL defenseman than we're going to be hilariously deep with our defensive core. Excited to see what Benning can do now that he's shifted his focus to improving the forward core. It's pretty dismal right now.

hahahahaha. I hope your joking

Doesn't look to be playing tonight either
-
Looking pretty solid.
-
Why would he be on the 3rd pairing? Is he not the knights best defenseman?
-
I'm not so sure Juolevi will be a 1d guy but will be incredibly valuable like Tanev. While most people hope he becomes better than Tanev I think we should be perfectly happy if he becomes a defender as good as Tanev. If you look at the history of 5th overall picks or look back at the 2008 NHL draft in which Tanev would have been picked (I think) he would argueably go top 6. Stamkos Doubty Pietriangelo Karlsson Josi These guys are obviously on another level but anyone else in the draft I think Tanev is as valuable Eberle, Myers, Carlson, Bogosian Basically at 5th overall we should be happy if Juolevi just becomes a rock solid top pairing guy even if his offensive capabilities arent good enough to be a #1 guy.
-
Why is it that how fast a guy makes the NHL so important? You want to take the player who ends up being the best player for you 5+ years from now not who's going to be better right off the hop. Obviously Chychrun, Tkachuk and Sergachev are going to make the NHL sooner because they have the strength of full grown men. I don't see the point in comparing how soon they make the NHL to a guy like Juolevi who isn't near his full size yet.
-
I'd still take Juolevi over Sergachev. Speaking of Subbans, if Jordan had any hockey sense he'd be in the NHL but he can't figure out how to play defense. Who would you rather have Tyson Barrie or Chris Tanev?
-
He is exactly known for his defense though. That's his best asset. I'd rather have a guy with elite hockey sense than a guy who has elite talent but questionable hockey sense.
-
Olli will never be a guy who puts up points or makes highlight reels unless somehow he has a complete change in mindset and attitude towards his play. Right now he always makes the safe play and almost never is aggressive offensively. I think he'll basically be a slightly better Tanev, not much though
-
Another game without a point? Not being a downer but i think thats only 1 point in his last 4 games. Can't help but wonder how much he benifited from playing with Caigula and that other guy whos name i can't remember. Kinda glad in a way though. Better for him not to have the weight of an entire city expecting him to save the franchise. But who knows he could score 4pts a game for the rest of the season.
