  1. The coach of TPS said that? I assume you're thinking of the comments Salo made of Juolevi needing to get fitter and train harder if he wants to have a hope of being an NHL defender. Anyway. This is the Dahlen thread.
  2. Could be right. I just see Liiga being close the same in quality as the AHL and Juolevi has shown he's good enough to take the next step. Maybe he doesn't play every game at first but he is at least practicing with NHL players and coaches and getting the odd game until an injury happens.
  3. What would you need to show he is strong enough? He has no problem against men in Liiga play. Watch him play and you'll see strength isn't going to be an issue for him.
  4. Jesus...it's prospect good news overload these days. Dahlin carrying his team to promotion Pettersson scoring the overtime winner to send team to finals Juolevi playing #1 minutes to shut up all the doubters Jasek surprising everyone except Sid with his play in the AHL Gaudette wins Hobey Baker Rathbone scoring a hat trick in a 4-3 win to advance to semi finals. Love it!
  5. It happened to Boeser and Horvat anyway this year and they managed fine. They'd do even better with Pettersson. I'd say long run it would be best if Pettersson ends up a center and they are separated to create scoring depth and matchup problems for opposition. For next year and until Pettersson is strong enough to carry the play he'll need a safe place to be with linemates that can do the heavy lifting and create space for him and Horvat and Boeser would be perfect for that.
  6. Put him with Horvat and Boeser it will be magic. Horvat creates space with his speed and size and can do the dirty work along the boards. Boeser has those elite instincts to be exactly where he needs to be and demands the respect of defenders. Add Petterssons elite hockey IQ and skill to the mix and watch the &^@# out. Pettersson will have lots of space to work his magic
  7. He also needs to learn the pace of the NHL game. He could sub in and out for a few games until someone gets injured. Just ease him into the NHL
  8. I think Dahlen starts in the AHL just due too our surplus on wingers with NHL experience but he is the first call up and sticks. I think Juolevi will make the team as the 7th Dman due to the amount on LHD we already have. Edler, Del Zotto, Pouliot and Hutton are ahead of him. One of those guys will probably be traded making Juolevi the 7th D.
  9. Looked like he was just surprised that the guy got through those first 2 TPS forwards. Just a half second to slow to react and get in the way of the shot.
  10. He was mighty impressive as well. I didn't see any real errors made. Tappara had a hell of a time getting anything going offensively with Juolevi on the ice.
  11. Juolevi with a real nice play at the blue line for an assist on a rebound.
  12. I need to understand why you think Bo is an "emotional" leader vs an "even keeled" leader Rush. To me Bo doesn't seem emotional at all, he's incredibly responsible and mature for a young kid and seems like the furthest thing from an emotional guy. He's seems a lot more robotic and even keeled to me. I think he's the perfect choice to be a Captain right now because of his youth and because of his work ethic and leadership abilities. With the insurgents of youth the young guys will look at how hard Bo works and how responsible of a person he is a such a young age, he is a great mentor for the kids coming in, plus he's played his whole career under the Sedins learning from them. He can pass on what he has leaned from them.
  13. What a weird game time. Was really hoping on trying to watch Lind play. Is there any game replays or longer game highlight packages out there for AHL games? I know it's a stretch to imagine there is but I'm hoping anyhow.
  14. 11am? So 8am Pacific? Is it a holiday in the states today?
  15. Olli finishes with 23min in an overtime game. For some reason Mark Fraser the other Left Defenseman played 28min, I watched the game and Fraser sucked, no idea why the coach wasn't playing Juolevi more. Played a classic Juolevi game, smart with the puck, excellent in his own zone at reading the play and puck retrieval. He's impossible to forecheck as he either always makes a good quick pass to his teammates or pins the puck and waits for a better option. Just has such elite hockey IQ. If I were to pick apart his game a little I'd say he need to work on his footspeed. 1 on 1 he tends to have troubles, he almost got beat wide a few times (He recovered but I worry if an NHL level forward is doing that) and I noticed a forward can fairly easily create space by shifting back and forth a few times on Juolevi as he's just not that quick to turn. Also he almost never skates the puck out of trouble, he'll always look for a pass and if there isn't a good option for a pass he'll try and force one rather than just skate up the ice with the puck. Minor thing as he does make excellent passes but if he was a little more aggressive he could be a much more effective defenseman on the breakout. Was nice to finally catch a game of his. Hopefully with a good summer of training he can get a little quicker, it's the only weak part of his game right now as he's plenty strong enough now and has always had elite hockey IQ and passing.
  16. For those who've watched Brassard and know more about him what are his chances of playing for Utica next year? I'm just a stat watcher for the most part so I have no idea what level of talent a guy needs to be at to be an AHL player vs a ECHL player coming out of Juniors. Is he a lock to be Utica bound? Is it unlikely? Or is he borderline and will tryout for the team much like a guy would tryout for the Canucks before deciding if he's an NHL player or AHL player?
  17. Dahlen looking sooo dangerous out there. Only watched a bit of the 2nd and he's had 2 amazing scoring chances. He's got incredible instincts.
  18. Ya it's quite odd. I guess Mittlestatd looked good at the WJCs but he sure didn't do much in the NCAA. Vilardi has been dominating and he moved down 3 spots? Odd list
  19. Couple assists in a loss tonight for Lind. His season is done now ya? He can go to Utica?
  20. 3min more than the next defender as well! Olli is making a habit of stepping up his game for playoffs
  21. He was benched once after the WJCs because he was tired. I'm not sure what the attitude problems are about but his benching this year wasn't an attitude thing
  22. The thing with being a small guy is that it limits you're effectiveness and ability to adapt you're game to a bottom 6 role. If you're not skilled enough to be a top 6 guy a coach isn't going to be playing you in a checking role if you're 20lbs smaller than most guys on the ice. If Palmu has the skill to be a top 6 forward than with his build he'll be fine but like lots of guys of a smaller stature who are borderline top 6 players it makes it really tough to be an NHL player because it's top 6 or bust. You don't really get to start in a checking role and hopefully work your way up as you learn, develop and adapt to the NHL game.
  23. 161 is probably his draft weight. Hockeydb Rarely updates their player weights. Pretty similar size to Elias and probably close to what weight he'll end up being.
  24. Just saw box score said he got 2 and a 10 early in the game for "a criminal offense". He go full Bertuzzi out there or something? Maybe you missed it.
