  1. What's hilarious about this system trashtalking now is that the Canucks were firing tons and tons of shots on opponents earlier in the season. Same system, right?
  2. Hey Burr. Nice of you to finally show up, buddy.

A little too late it seems...

  3. And let me guess... Losses piss you off because those people were proven correct?
  4. Nylander is not ready right away. The only guy who's ready right away in this draft is Ekblad. Nylander should probably stay in Sweden for a year or two, get the ability to grow facial hair, and stop looking like a girl before he's anywhere close to being ready for the NHL.
  5. I'm sure this factor haunts the 92-93 Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins every day for when their organization tanked for Mario Lemieux. Oh wait. Only one Penguin from the tank season went on to win a cup with him. So I guess 19yr old rookie at the time Troy Loney is the one who's haunted. He knew what he did when he played 13 games and scored 0 points. Troy Loney is a coward. Oh. And Phil Bourque. Phil Bourque played 5 games that season. He is also a coward. That's two definite cowards who will forever be haunted for being cowards.
  6. They had Arnott, Gomez and Holik all playing more minutes per game than him that season, so I guess you were right. He played 4th line minutes.
  7. This. He'll be good. But not 'franchise'. Ekblad is the only stud in this years' draft i think.
  8. Jensen was given the book on Luongo: Get him to flop, go high stick-side. Works anytime you want to score on him.
  9. Does Vancouver not understand the CONCEPT of a tank?!?

  10. Non Stop 6/10 Typical Liam Neeson film. Troubled, angry man has a job to do. His job involves killing a lot of people. This time on a plane. Plot reminded me of the better Jodi Foster film Flight Plan. That movie was dreary, but it was more suspensful than this one. This one was had a similar tone, but the 'surprise' end, at least one part of it was entirely unbelievable. The last action sequence was fairly ridiculous as well, but you could see why it was put in the film. Red Eye was also a better airline suspense film. Still, this was better than Neeson's Taken 2, by a long shot. The original Taken is fairly superior to Non Stop.
  11. Kris Draper. Guy Carbonneau. Kesler would be Pittsburgh's 3rd line center. Maybe a top-6 winger. But wasn't he 'sooooo upset' about being the Sedins' winger? (That rumour makes no sense.)
  12. We have so many other problems lately that they reffing bias seems of minor concern now. Besides, we're tanking this thing.
  13. Aaaand Kesler's out. "You put a nail on the coffin and you haul 'em all out. You put a nail in the coffin and you drink some more booze."

^after giving up 7 in the 3rd against arguably the worst team in the league you'd almost have to think that they'll make the playoffs. Just because it would be ridiculous and unexpected, which has been their motto this season.

  14. Hey, at least the Leafs can still get blown out too. Yay.

  15. However, Kesler is an ideal 3rd line center. In that if you have top-6 centers better than Kesler, then you're a true contender. I thought it was interesting when the Canucks traded Schneider for the ability to draft a shutdown-type center. I mean that's nice and all, but we're going to need some scoring up the middle too when Hank and Kesler are done as Canucks. What's additionally interesting is that the Canucks have Horvat and Gaunce in the system, and then they traded for Matthias. Again, fine, but none of these guys are going to be elite scorers in the NHL. I hope the plan is to acquire an elite scorer via the stacked 2015 draft. Either by losing honour for Connor or whatever. If not, then we'll need a stud defenseman. Somebody has to be a standout in the post-Sedin era. You don't win without standouts. In the meantime it's still good to have a decent blue-chipper like Bo, but some people here should definitely tone down the 'saviour' expectations that may be put on him.
  16. I find the highlights much more enjoyable to watch while listening to Keystone Cops songs. Da da danana da da da dee da, tada!

  17. NY had a ton of trouble early on, actually. It's only lately they've recovered. Our path this season has been the opposite. Reason: Mainly injuries.
  18. Agreed to a point. But as they haven't been able to do much with the puck lately, I can see why Torts is preaching ultra-defense. It's funny all this retreating is happening now, when at season start the team was all about the attack and getting off a ton of shots.
  19. I guess Torts had his chance to get those older guys going and the California/Phoenix road trip pretty much sealed it up. The 9-1 loss to Anaheim was the end of the road I think for the old core. Since we've seen all sorts of callups, Lu was traded for younger guys and Kesler wants out. These are events that Torts didn't want to happen if he wanted to win now or at any time in his 5-year term with the Canucks. Any coach in the league would've come to the same end of the road with this core though. So how much do you blame Torts? Ah, it wouldn't surprise me if he is canned. It's all part of the process to become laughably bad for awhile here. Hopefully an honest tank job is there next season. You're not going to replace the Sedins' long-term franchise impact via trades or UFA signings.
  20. Meanwhile the Canucks are going to go through a youth movement. Ruff was my first choice too, but honestly, coaching isn't the problem. It's the lack of up-and-coming star players like Benn and Seguin. We got what? Kassian?
  21. The problem with implementing Torts' system here is two-fold. First, it requires a lot of difficult play to score goals. And a lot of our players were accustomed to easy play to score goals. And a lot of our players are not able to perform difficult plays to score goals. So what implementing Torts' system did was expose our 'scorers' for what they were: Overrated. Second, a lot of our players have only known one coach, AV. There's going to be a problem with transitioning to a new one, no matter who it was. The players that adapted right away, as it turns out, were the Sedins and Santorelli and the players who have seen multiple coaches. Unfortunately those players have been banged-up quite a bit due to problem #1. If we fire Torts now, that would be a move to continue with the team apparently being directionless, and it would add a whole new level of flux to this strange re-tooling process the team has been going through since the cup finals run. Bottom line we've seen what this group the Canucks currently have can do. They didn't score much in big games back then and they're not going to all of a sudden be able to do it now after a mere coaching change. They need to admit to themselves that a proper rebuild and drafting the correct players for their next shot at it is the ONLY way to do this thing. Enough with the denial already!
  22. Strange this thread was put here. We traded him. He didn't leave the game of hockey.
