  1. Optimus Prime and Eeyore is the same! I'll never look at G.I. Cobra the same before!

  2. What's sad is you reaching to this conclusion. It sounds like you have little faith in this assessment of Brisebois or in the reasoning of why the Canucks picked him up after trading Lack for the pick. Otherwise, why would there be any displeasure in it? Clearly CSE knows better than you or I on what they wanted to do with the pick, so jumping to conclusions about one another or what they're plans are, or even if this prospect succeeds is kind of a waste of time.
  3. While QD of low offensive impact and with size to gain at draft age have a very little chance of becoming top-4 NHL defensemen, I think Benning an Co. will somehow buck the trend with this pick. It might take years of development, but the fans should be confident that Benning the drafting genius knows what he is doing. After all, he scouts all these kids personally, and nobody here really does to the same degree, nor do they have the responsibility that comes along with an NHL GM job. It's in his best interest to get all these picks right, whereas fans and youtube scouts here have no real vested interest. That being said, somebody needed to draft Brisebois at around this pick, and as it turns out, that was going to be the Canucks. I think he has about as fair a chance as any late rounder to surprise, and nobody at this point can honestly prove otherwise. It's not as if all teams can just stop drafting QD because of the lack of overall success they've had in the NHL as of late, Letang and a few others notwithstanding. The Canucks have always been a team that has gone to the Q for D. Luc Bourdon RIP being the most notable, lately. They've always gone for low-upside tough WHL defensemen as well. As I've said, a team HAS to pick these guys up.
  4. With any luck this team will make the playoffs and compete for the Stanley Cup. The fans need to know that the Canucks are committed to winning. But this will not happen yesterday, and it will not happen by magic. Although, it will be magical...

      The Weasel

We aren't making the playoffs this season. No way.

  5. When a team trades a star like Kessel to make room, you have to notice. Win or lose, the Maple Leafs will have built an entertaining brand that focuses on William Nylander, and Mitch Marner. Both fast, undersized, dynamic players with loads of skill.
  6. Shinkaruk? He has been healthy for a full season now. So has Virtanen. What year is this? Further to the point above about William Nylander of the Toronto Maple Leafs, you can also note that Nikolaj Ehlers will have a clear path to NHL stardom thanks to the Evander Kane trade. The more you look at the NHL as a collective business, the more clearly you can see how each and every move relates to one another.
  7. William Nylander will be a star for the Toronto Maple Leafs, they are the main attraction for MLSE, which is the most important sports entertainment business in the country. The Maple Leafs are undergoing a self-proclaimed rebuild and Nylander will be part of the new core. The Kessel trade facilitates that, so now the path is clear for Nylander to reach superstar status in Toronto. The Canucks, meanwhile, have not self-proclaimed that they're in a rebuild, they're not dumping their star players, and are undergoing the process of replacing non-essential vets with young players. Considering the positions of these teams, and the top-end offensive potential of Nylander and Virtanen, it seems that Nylander is on the correct team and so is Virtanen. If we had Nylander, then somehow the Canucks would need to facilitate the trade of Daniel Sedin to make room for him. This is not happening, as the Sedins are still elite players in the NHL and do not currently need to be replaced. When MLSE decided to pull the plug on the Maple Leaf's lineup, that enabled them to do whatever they wanted to the lineup. At the end of the day these are two successful businesses that know what they're doing, and don't need the second-guesses from fans who don't know the ins and outs of the business. We should wish both players well and hope that they both become premier players in the NHL, because that is what's best for the business of the NHL as a whole. The more star talent to watch, the more entertained the fans will be, regardless of wins or losses.
  8. Why do people think this team will be bad when it has actually improved?

BanTSN is the greatst poster on this forum. He listens to everyone with an open mind. He spreads his wonderful knowledge to the members of this amazing community. But most importantly, he understands Jim Benning's vision of what it takes to win and educates us all on his viewpoint. Thank you BanTSN for making this community a better place.

BanTSN, one thing you must learn is that domination is not the key to success. Domination implies that you are better than evryone else. Even though it is true, modesty keeps everyone else happy, and a happy fanbase will lead to success.

  11. Brandon Prust is going to play real hard, show up every night, and protect the young players. Same with Dorsett.

That is a good quote. Prust is a great player, Like the trade or not, I'm glad he is on the team.

  12. Linden said we have no choice but to use the draft. But you sure do have a choice with WHO you draft, or whether or not you even have the picks to draft them.

  13. Even if this team had defeated Calgary, Benning would have made the exact same moves. He has a plan and he's following through with it. Stand back and relax while the man works his magic.

  18. Has anyone else noticed that EP has write-ups on Canucks picks in all rounds, but the players surrounding them do not? Tate Olson was the 2nd-last player selected in 2015. Write-up worthy? Apparently EP is populated with 'Canucks fans?'

  22. I have no problem with agreeing with that basic Demko potential as well, but that level of experience and expertise is minimal at best. But congrats on what you've done so far, as you have to start somewhere.
  23. Button is an idiot, or he is being paid to say things that are wrong on purpose. Either way, it's best if you don't believe him.
  24. Anaheim re-signed Bieksa to 2 more years without seeing him play a game in a Ducks jersey. Somebody should have told them he stinks now.
