  1. Anyone know if the Sept. 26th preseason game is televised? Or will it be available online? I CANNOT WAIT to see Canuck hockey again.
  2. I want to see Chara ragdoll a Maple Leaf one more time before he calls it a career.
  3. 11 days til that first preseason game - I hope it’s televised. I’m a-okay with letting Petey and Hughes sit it out a while if they’re not coming around. My allegiance is to the team, and I hope a fair offer is agreed upon.
  4. He had the best backhanders to clear the puck out of our own zone on the penalty kill. And such a unique skating style, kind of like Phil Housley.
  5. As a fan, I sure feel antsy about wanting to see a deal soon. As much as we’d like to think the Canucks are going to take off this season, those two guys are so important to our team. It feels like if they miss training camp and exhibition games it’ll set us back, and it’s hard to play catch up in this league. On the other hand, we need these deals to be as fair as can be. If we lock too much cap on them, or finish these contracts as soon as they could become UFAs, we’ll be in the same position as Toronto. Such a sticky situation.
  6. Canucks management must really be pushing for a long term deal as opposed to bridges, or these deals would have been done by now. Let’s hope we can get some long term contracts signed.
  7. Part of me thinks the NHL will need to start changing its criteria for hockey hall of fame. Back 30 years ago, there were fewer teams and better odds that players would win a cup. Now there are 32 teams, and lots of superstar types won’t win a cup. Linden was an amazing playoff performer, and that should count for something.
  8. Sssssllllllllllllloooooooowwwwwww goooooooinnnnng nnnneegggoootttiiaaaatttiioonnssss Wwhhhhheeeeennnnnn wwwwiiillllllllllll tttthhhheeeeeyyyyyyy sssssssiiiggggnnnnn???
  9. There’s truth here. I hate having the smaller, weaker team. And Calgary could goon the heck out of the Canucks right now. There’s not much value in having skilled guys when they get riddled with injuries, as our team might against some teams.
  10. I remember when Boeser was taking his sweet time to sign his RFA contract in 2019. Pettersson was getting pretty antsy by the time training camp came rolling up. "Not yet,” Pettersson said to Sportnet’s Iain MacIntyre when asked if he’s putting pressure on Boeser. “But if it’s getting close to Oct. 2 (the Canucks’ season-opener in Edmonton) and he’s not here, I’ll put some pressure on him.” (source: https://ca.style.yahoo.com/canucks-elias-pettersson-willing-to-pressure-brock-boeser-to-sign-011837957.html) Let's hope Boeser returns the favour with some pressure on Pettersson.
  11. Where be all the Nirvana fans? That’s the obvious choice here.
  12. Pettersson has 3 goals in 3 games. Pretty good start.…. watch Virtanen accidentally take him out in practice.
  13. I’m interested to see what Calgary does in the captain department too. Would they actually give it to the turtle? Sure is nice to have a steady captain in Horvat.
  14. So glad he is off this team. You can’t make that much money and not do anything. He was such a sponge that retained all its liquid, not breaking a sweat once.
  15. This worries me a bit, with Petey still not signed. If Habs make a bit of room on their roster / cap, they could go aggressively after Petey. That GM is making moves to save his job right now.
  16. Crosby makes $9.7 million. Petey should be asking himself what he has accomplished next to Crosby, and sign on the dotted line. Hughes looked great two years ago and a defensive liability with shaky play last year. He better not get all primadonna on us yet. Both are amazing players, but they need to stay realistic.
  17. I don’t mind them sitting out first 10 games, if it helps bring contracts down somewhat. We have enough young talent to offer chances to see how they do in various situations, including Rathbone and Juolevi. I really like Hughes and Petey, but they’re both RFAs, and this entitlement that the Leafs management fuelled with big contracts to their RFAs doesn’t need to happen here.
  18. Less than three weeks away from training camp. Three weeks away exactly until first preseason game. I’m starting to think neither guy is signed by then.
  19. It sure has been quiet on this front. I’m hoping these two get signed in time for training camp, because we’ve already seen what a rushed intro to the season (last year) does to their performances. They both looked out of sorts at the start of last season. At the same time, if it means a more reasonable price tag, and supporting the depth of this team, I’d be okay with having them sit longer to come around with negotiations. They deserve to be paid fairly, but for sake of a competitive team, not a dollar more.
  20. #2 is also fitting because it’s the average amount of penalty minutes a game that he gets these days for hooking or slashing.
  21. Look out, ladies of St. Petersburg. Jake the alleged rapist could be coming to town.
  22. I have a buddy who’s a diehard Jets fan who says this is a great deal for Canucks. Poolman is a steady Tanev-like player who makes a big difference in subtle ways.
  23. Perhaps. Something doesn’t pass the smell test on it all though - like why he wasn’t able to come to camp to start. I think he finished the season by playing out the final few games with Carolina (perhaps in similar fashion to how he started with the Canucks). It would be interesting to know for sure whether Vancouver medical examiners even connected with him. I see there is a Sportsnet article from Ian MacIntyre on Dec 6, 2019, which reads that the Canucks looked into Ferland’s medical history with Carolina Hurricanes and Calgary Flames before signing him, but no indication of actually examining him. That’s a pretty substantial failure on management’s part for such a risky investment.
