  1. Leafs can’t get enough of our stud D. Last year, Hutton. Now Biega. Going back further, Jordan Subban. They know talent when they see it.
  2. He was no Jiri Slegr, but he was a fine defenseman for sure. Best to you, Alex Edler, and thanks for all the great hits.
  3. Interesting that the guy hardly takes a penalty… very Tanevesque there. Makes me wonder how physical he is though.
  4. Agreed. He had that one good game last year. He is too much of a passenger to get anything substantial.
  5. I’m hearing he hasn’t actually lifted his NTC / approval on this yet, and apparently Jets have tried to get him in past years where he has refused to waive the limited no trade clause
  6. Nice to see ownership has given that green light on buy outs. It can’t be easy to feel like we’re throwing away millions, especially when it’s an owner’s money, so I’m feeling fortunate right now that we have that luxury. Not all NHL teams do.
  7. Good riddance. Regardless of the accusations, he was one of the most frustrating Canucks that I’ve seen. So much raw talent, and so little drive or consistency. He has been a big time letdown.
  8. I know that, as a fan, I’m a lot more excited about next season. A whole season of knowing there is NO chance Erikkson makes it into the lineup.
  9. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha he’s gone!!
  10. If we do trade Schmidt, I hope it’s for a tough, mean defenseman. Our team is skilled but waaaay too soft at the moment.
  11. This is helpful. If they wanted to add in some advanced stats, they should include distance travelled between games too. Ottawa wouldn’t look too bad there, while Vancouver would be hurting.
  12. The schedule is much more manageable than last year. Plus all those road games in Seattle will help reduce travel. I can’t wait for the season to start. I’m seeing playoffs. A healthy Petey will get us there. I just hope the Canucks use their skate jersey as a frequently used third jersey. That’s a key to success this year.
  13. Weber won’t screw Nashville like Luongo did with Vancouver. He’s too much of a team player to do that. He’ll go the long term injury route. Speaking of our Luongo cap hit, I was thinking about it more the other day, and wondering if Canucks didn’t argue against it more because our owner is a bit on the cheap side? Correct me if I’m wrong, but the Luongo cap hit doesn’t actually mean the Canucks are paying that amount annually to anyone. It’s basically just meaning we can’t spend the amount up to the cap each year as a penalty. Without that cap hit, I assume ownership would feel obligated to be spending to the cap each of the last few years. So in essence, our owner has saved himself some money by not having to spend real money all the way to the cap the past few years.
  14. Still hoping we can sign Hamonic for a good price. It might not seem important, but without him or a tough substitute in his place, our team looks softer than it has in years. When you think of our four toughest fighters on the team, and think of Seattle who will be wanting to set a tone with their closest rivals, we’ll be getting beat up by a bloody expansion team.
  15. This kind of deal aggravates me a bit. Oilers are such suckers for taking it. Basically, it allowed Chicago to offer that premium deal to Keith back in the day that was considered a couple years too long, and now they don’t have to pay any kind of consequences for it. The Oilers just slurp up Chicago’s sloppy seconds, and give Chicago a pick and player for it. Honestly, what is Edmonton thinking? I’d have a fit if it was the Canucks making a deal like that.
  16. I still find it so puzzling how things went with Tryamkin. If he intended to just keep playing in the KHL, why did he suggest that he was open to returning to the Canucks, and keep pics of himself as a Canuck on his social media account? It was only hurting his playing time in the KHL, since they thought he might leave. Why did his agent only give the Canucks about a day or two to negotiate before Tryamkin turned around to sign a two year deal in Russia? Such a weird thing. And disheartening. Seeing the HUGE defense on the Lightning is a big reminder how our back end is not nearly big enough for us to thrive in the post season. When the post season hitting starts, we’ll be injury riddled before a round even finishes.
  17. I’d agree with this. If we plan to ever go far in playoffs, we need size on the back end. Time and time again, the Playoffs demonstrate the need for it.
  18. I wonder if Ferland ever feels guilty for signing that monster contract. I assume he was having head / concussion issues throughout the summer that he signed. He missed most of training camp and never looked comfortable early on. I think that’s partly why he tried so hard over and over again to come back, because he knows he signed the contract in somewhat bad faith, hoping his head issues would clear up in time.
  19. Sad news. I hope the family is healing okay. This news is currently front page top story on CNN, which is a shocker to me, considering how few hockey related stories ever make it on there.
  20. Time to buy him out and move on.
  21. Sadly, Tryamkin is out of the equation. I suppose there is a 0.1% chance he could sign with the Canucks, but it would take the KHL to collapse for it to happen.
