  1. I understand why he was canned - he should never had actually said that. But honestly, game management has always been a part of their jobs. I’ve come to accept that, and actually can kind of understand it. Imagine if the Canucks were being particularly careless and got called for 8 infractions while the other team got none. We’d be outraged and calling for a ref’s head. That’s where game management comes in, whether you think it’s right or wrong. There’s a balancing out for the most part, and serious infractions are still called. It’s far from a perfect system, but this is more than a sports business; it’s also an entertainment business. All of that said, some nights it seems like refs are more interested in hurting a team’s chances than trying to keep a game somewhat balanced and managed, and that’s where it becomes sour for me.
  2. Our ugly schedule helped sink us in the standings. Imagine when Benn and Miller were testing positive for Covid if they shut us down for a week like they just did for the Habs after two players tested positive. That kind of break may have kept us going.
  3. Edler’s shot never breaks bones. In fact, his power play point shot hits feet and legs 83% of the time and has yet to cause a fracture or break.
  4. I heard Alain Vigneault may get canned if Flyers don’t make playoffs. He’d have my vote.
  5. No Petey? No Horvat? No problem! .. well, yes, problem actually.
  6. If I had to pick a Canuck to score in the third, I’m going with Motte!
  7. It feels like we might need a power play to break through and score.
  8. There was a Zoom workout with Bo Horvat and his trainer that my son and I did yesterday through some Rogers program. Bo was pretty talkative throughout. He says he got home from Montreal trip at 2:30 AM Sunday and was up by about 7:30 AM with his son Gunner. Rough sleep! He also talked about his captaincy style, how he’s not a raw-raw guy in the locker room, and that he just tries to lead by example. Reminded me of Linden’s style. Although Linden would lay out a lot more hits.
  9. Some sketchy defense in that period. We’re lucky it’s only 1-0. Hope they’re more in sync in the second.
  10. He’ll be a very solid addition to the back line. I could see him paired with Hughes as a really nice fit. One balances out ther other - offensive small guy and defensive-minded massive guy. Plus I think having Podkolzin on the team next year will make Tryamkin feel even more comfortable, having another Russian to chat with. I really do see next year as our year - where it all comes together, and we’ll get a proper training camp and enough games in the regular season to get adjusted to the new faces.
  11. Somehow I felt better losing that shootout than I did with yesterday's win. Funny how the refs can even ruin wins like that.
  12. Got a point. That’s more than I was expecting going into the third
  13. Maybe we should throw Demko in? He’s had a pretty good rest for almost 2 periods.
  14. Ref pleased because he can use his call against Canucks another time
