  1. I actually opted to watch Genie instead of the Canucks. At least with tennis you're guaranteed winning a few points. I can't watch shutout hockey for very long. Dellacqua is enjoying some success. It'll be a good match but I hope Genie pulls through. The more she plays against Serena, the better she'll get at it.
  2. Good one Milos! Vasek has withdrawn due to his back injury It would have been great for him to go up against Wawrinka. Even if he lost in straight sets, the experience would have been valuable. Some crazy weather in Aussie land!
  3. Absolutely. A game like this was badly needed. It forces us to address the issues that we keep sweeping under the rug. This team is all about putting a bandaid over the bullet hole. We never fix the actual issues.
  4. "We want 10, we want 10!" Silly of Torts to put Eriksson in. What an awful way to make your NHL debut
  5. Hope no one is blaming officiating after this one. It's not them. It's us.
  6. With this type of an effort, unless he can score goal too, there's nothing he can do about our sinking ship
  7. Hope fans stop wasting their $$ on the California road trip. It's not what it used to be. This team isn't what it used to be.
  8. Elite team manhandling an average team. That's what going on here. Remember when we were the elite team....?
  9. Torts is doing the best he can with the players he has. Bottom line is: what he has is not what we need to be successful. No amount of line juggles can help this team right now. We just aren't scoring and everyone is slumping at the same time. Lower expectations folks, it is the key.
  10. Man and to think I was gonna get a Camillo jersey...dodged that bullet... Real tough loss for VWFC. This pretty much kills any chance of him repping Canada internationally too eh?
  11. ^ yeah great match by her. She really is an incredible player. Really dictates the points and is good under pressure. The Canadian contingent has been out in full force supporting Vasek, Milos, and Genie. They are obviously the most boisterous with Genie
  12. ^ I'm happy for him that he finally has a good Team Canada to play on. One that can challenge the best nations and actually win matches. So after 2 days there have been numerous fainting spells from both players and ball kids, vomiting, medical timeouts, heatstroke, etc. suffered due to the heat. I personally think it's inhumane to make players compete in such harsh conditions. Thoughts on this?
  13. Reading the post game quotes from the players and from Torts, sounds like everyone is really pumped about the effort in this game. They're really proud of the team and it's the first time they are showing some confidence in their abilities. If this game becomes a rallying point for us, it's well worth the 2 points IMO
  14. Real proud of this team for sticking up for each other. There was a lot of adversity in this game and we show that we could come together and handle it But this game was a microcosm of our problems for many seasons now. If the players are trying to defend each other we can't seem to score. We need players who can be physical and score all in the same game Shame it would've been a big two points
  15. Matt Lee ‏@mattlee980 22h If it was personal reasons, why did Torts say he's banged up? Clearly a cover job.
  16. Except for that we do have our facts straight. Booth practiced the day before Super Skills and participated in all drills. Booth practiced the day after Super Skills and participated in all drills Booth was slated to participate in the Super Skills contest but was a last minute no show. This is a picture of the Super Skills roster. You will notice that Booth's #7 is on there. Province Sports ‏@provincesports 1h
  17. Torts now saying Booth was absent because he's "banged up." Sounds like damage control to me You can't get banged up when you're not playing. And it's not that he's been an injury scratch. Torts has been very clear that Booth has been a healthy scratch due to his lack of good performances.
  18. I was hoping he'd continue to do even a little decent so that we could trade him. The way he's going right now, no other GM in the league is dumb enough to take on his contract. It'll have to be a buyout and we won't get even a bag of pucks back in return for him. It'll go down as just a terrible pickup by the Canucks
  19. Unreal. 21 straight years where he has won at least one title. Just an amazing player
  20. I should hope so. He makes like a zillion dollars more! And I disagree with that statement. Weise plays his role on the team better than Booth plays his role. Weise is a 4th line grinder and he does that on most nights. Booth was brought in to be a goal scorer...still waiting on that...
  21. It's a chickas thing Deb. We totally understand each other
  22. I read that he was scheduled to participate but that he was a no show? Sounds like this guy marches to the beat of his own drum. If he's mentally checked out of being a part of this team, trading him/buying him out is just a formality isn't it?
  23. Usually I love falling asleep when it's raining heavily. But ya the wind definitely makes it harder to do lol
  24. Nasty, nasty, nasty out there tonight
  25. No Apparently he's out till at least the 14th. Hasn't received medical clearance to play just yet and, when he does play, he'll have to wear a full face shield.
