Sadly i think we need more than just a top 6 forward to get competitive against the elite teams again. Depth players ain't getting it done either. And of course top liners haven't been consistent -

Canucks don't deserve to be up in this game. Kings have been the better team -

So many empty seats. This was unheard of a few seasons ago. Fans are clearly unimpressed with the team's performance so far this season. And rightfully so -
The minute we admit to ourselves that we're not an elite team is the minute the losses will stop mattering. Yeah ok we outshot the Hawks. How many A+ scoring chances did we give them? And how many of our shots were perimeter wafters that even I could stop? No goals from the twins, no goals from secondary sources, no goals from the D. How is this team supposed to win? The current personnel isn't getting it done folks. We either burn up the time on the Sedins' new contracts or maybe they request a trade because they want a chance to win the Cup or.......we make major trades. Get rid of players, change the team identity, bring in some youth (the Hawks were skating laps around us today. No surprise though. They always do that), and get this team moving in the right direction again. Easier said than done, I know, but we can't keep trusting the current personnel to get the job done. Clearly they're not doing it. On a positive note: Luongo on After Hours was fantastic. Such genuine and honest responses. That clip they showed on him running the goalie session on his first ever After Hours appearance felt like it was a lifetime ago. He's come a long way since then. Way to go Lu.

We'll make this the GDT since there's none up and it's almost game time

Awful call on the no-goal but it's not why we lost How many PP's did we have? And how many shots on goal did we have? And how many times did we cash in? The goal droughts are inexplicable on this team. When none of Daniel, Kesler, Burrows, Hansen, Higgins, Kassian, Booth, Santo or any of the Dmen can hit the scoresheet, that's a real problem. And it's not that Lehtonen was stellar. How many high-quality chances did we have on him? Shots from the perimeter ain't going in on any goalie in this league folks. All the end up doing is giving the goalie more and more confidence as he makes more and more of those saves. And poor Luongo at the other end is just chilling, hasn't had a touch of the puck in forever, and then we give up an odd man rush and expect him to bail us out? Not fair at all. The Canucks have always relied on scoring from the back end. How long has it been since Edler or Garrison scored? Heck how long has it been since Garrison hit the net with a freaking shot? Either all these above mentioned players better bump their slumps in a hurry, or else MG has to manufacture a trade. Offense can't go cold at this stage in the season. Against the old NW division, these points were easy to make up. Not any more. A few more losses and we won't be able to make up ground to get back into playoff positioning.

Yikes. It's awful out there. Glad I'm having a lazy evening today

Agreed. Still a few mishandles and funky hops of the puck when it's on his stick. He's definitely still in catch-up mode but he's getting closer every game. Had some nice plays with the 2nd line today.

I miss bumping this after a big goal Come on Burrito, time to light the lamp darling

^ wow I know where that is. Not too far from me. That can't all be from rain. Maybe drain sewer issues or something?? I didn't rain that much today did it?

Bleh. Sucks that the weather will be so crappy for Pavel Bure retirement day

Yeah good point. I thought he'd be one of Brazil's top players, but I guess in comparison to the squad they have, he doesn't even warrant a look. Canada's gain though. Goodness knows our side could use a hand. And it's not unheard of. Karina Leblanc and Lauren Sesselman are both Americans but they play internationally for Canada and both helped our women's squad win Bronze at the Olympics. We need to take advantage of players wanting to play for us. It's the only way to move up the rankings. -
Torts just confirmed: "Burrows is back tonight" Welcome back Burrito!!!!

Hatty for Camilo gives him the Golden Boot in an outright win. Amazing player! I didn't realize he's planning to play internationally for Canada. That'll be huge. Great send off for YP Lee as well. What a night at BC Place -
So impressive that Pospisil took a set off of Fed. What a season for him. So much to look forward to for Canadian tennis next season.

Serena puts the cherry on top of a phenomenal season by winning the WTA finals today. That's 11 Titles on the season. Wow!
-
Yup fall announced its arrival in a big way today
-
Yeah gutsy performance by Raonic today. That ankle sprain was nasty. Tough to watch on the replays. Canada are the huge underdogs here. No one expects them to beat the powerhouse Serbians. But at least we're putting up a fight so far. Had Tipsarevic beat Raonic today it would have been a huge blow. Also in Canadian tennis news, Eugenie Bouchard is into the semis of the Bell Challenge in Montreal. With those points she is now projected to crack the WTA's Top 50!

I don't know about you guys but I'm ready for a snowfall right about now. Beautiful weather but a total scorcher today!

Yeah he's definitely not the same players as he was in 2011 eh? But then again, 2011 set the bar a little too high. To win 3/4 Slams was unreal. I don't think anyone expected him to replicate that. It would have been nice for him to win a few more Masters 1000's though. His game is not what it used to be. More unforced errors, doesn't go for the high risk/high reward shots as often anymore, and spends too much time on the defensive. Will be interesting to see how he does in the remaining events, especially the ATP World Tour Finals. Kudos to Rafa. I never thought he'd win another hard court Slam. I thought he only had a few more Roland Garros's left in him. He played well

SERENA - Slam #17!! What a match. Man, I was having heart palpitations there! So unlike Serena to not be able to serve out a match...twice. Props to Vika for throwing it all at Serena. Really made her work for it. Great athleticism by both players.

True, a lot of it depends on consistency. I don't see him being higher than Djokovic, Rafa, or Murray. But I see him being a legitimate threat now. Someone who can beat the big 3 or at least pose a threat of upsetting any of them. My hope for the finals: Djokovic and Serena My prediction for the finals: Nadal and Serena

Glad Murray lost out. He's one of the most boring players to watch IMO. Wawrinka played phenomenal this tournament. He has the potential to be better than Ferrer and DelPo and maybe even Murray. Gave Djokovic a real test today too. Meanwhile Rafa is just sailing through. Will be a great final. Djokovic will have to be more of an aggressor. He played too defensive and cautious against Wawrinka. Serena vs Azarenka will be good too. The result depends on which Serena shows up - the calm, cool, dominant Serena. Or the self-destructing Serena.
