  1. Yeah I'd say that's pretty significant, as well as Crosby leading his team to a dominant qmjhl championship and memorial cup birth lol
  2. No one insinuated that at all..I just think people need to significantly temper their expectations of Horvat.
  3. he also obviously watches a ton of video of these players, so yea you have to take his view with a grain of salt, but it's also another perspective and I very much welcome that. As we know, year in and year out there are a lot of surprises on draft day, and it never seems to follow the "consensus".
  4. Asked the question for you, and out of my own curiousity, theminster: Hey Cory, was wondering how often, if at all, do you get to travel to Canada and watch some of these guys in the CHL live? Also, how much of your opinions on players are based off your own actual viewings of players as oppose to just talking to scouts? No disrespect intended, just curious really. Cory Pronman: Very fair question which I would ask if I were in your position. I live in NY (from QC), did mostly AHL and college scouting in first half. Did bi-weekly trips through ONT and QC in 2nd half. One trip out west during the top prospect week. Saw guys during international camps as well that came out east. QC, Ont are mostly my views. WHL, high school and Europe (depending on area/player) I lean on sources. Proportion depends on players. If it's a high-end prospect, I make calls. I wouldn't put a guy top 30 based on a couple of views and no extra info but a guy like Shane Gersich was a personal gut call for example.
  5. I don't think he looked that slow, his overall compete level and intensity was disappointing.
  6. Konecny is likely a top 5 pick, so I doubt we finish that low. If we had kept Torts then I think we'd definitely have a good shot..
  7. As much as I am against following another teams "model" to win the cup, I hope Chicago wins it again as if we are following anyone's style of play, it should be them. We proved that the high skill and speed model can be successful and man oh man was it entertaining stuff in 2011.
  8. Yeah they certainly have a bright future, but they're simply overmatched. Speaking of gaborik, goal again. Kopitar has been on par with Toews this year and throughout the playoffs.
  9. Yeah, not a great regular season team, but man do their players step up in the playoffs. Adding Gaborik is proving to be an amazing move. Best deadline acquisition in a while, no doubt.
  10. Gaboriks been money for the kings. 8 goals 6 assists and they got him at half off and for peanuts.
  11. He's twenty years old with under ten career games played lmao
  12. Here's Pronman's list of the players he think that will end up being the best in this draft : 1 Aaron Ekblad D Barrie OHL 2 Sam Bennett C Kingston OHL 3 William Nylander RW Modo SHL 4 Sam Reinhart C Kootenay WHL 5 Nikolaj Ehlers LW Halifax QMJHL 6 Kevin Fiala LW HV71 SHL 7 Leon Draisaitl C Prince Albert WHL 8 Michael Dal Colle LW Oshawa OHL 9 Kasperi Kapanen RW KalPa Liiga 10 Haydn Fleury D Red Deer WHL Edit: Sorry, just saw it was posted. Interesting list none the less
  13. I like Leon, but I love Dal Colle. I think he's a slam dunk star and I've been praying since the start of the year that we'd somehow have a crack at drafting him.
  14. But But Burrows is small and undersized, after all only 1 inch and 12 lbs heavier than Ehlers
  15. Agreed for the most part, except there's a good reason San Jose hasn't resigned Boyle. He's clearly lost a step and his hands aren't what they once were. I think the only viable option would be Niskanen, maybe Letang if they're still interested in Kesler(obviously we'd have to add). We'd probably have to overpay Niskanen to lure him here as well and we'd have to convince one of our top 4 to waive their NTC, which is much easier said than done.
  16. He's also got one assist in 4 games mostly playing on the first line.. I think buying out Burrows would be the wrong decision but his best days are way behind him. He's still excellent at all the things that you've mentioned, but we need him to do that on top of put up points. On any other line other than with the Sedins, he'd be very lucky to crack 20 goals . If he has any trade value, I'd be receptive to moving on from Burrows.
  17. There are a lot of scouts who say Ekblad most likely tops out as a no. 2 d man. I would imagine Dale Tallon still has nightmares about taking Cam Barker third overall in Chicago.
  18. Haha I know, I was referring to Smith-Pelly but Silfverberg scored right as I was typing it.
  19. Ducks drafting is just ridiculous . Silfverberg ! This games getting out of hand quick
  20. Desharnais is having a pretty solid playoffs and he's only one of quite a few this year. Daniel Sedin is only one inch taller and 12lbs heavier than Ehlers is now, but I guess we shouldn't have drafted him either right?
