  1. Absolutely not, but he could definitely be the next Ryan O'Reilly. I think because of the lack of his showing of offensive prowness people are writing off Horvat. He's trying to establish himself as an NHL regular and the easiest way for him to do that is to be responsible defensively. It will take him a few years to show his offensive potential, but in his prime he will definitely be a key cog to this Canuck team, no doubt about it. ATM he knows that what will get him on this team is his defensive awareness so that is what he will be focusing on. IMO, if we give him the chance he will make the team and move his way up the lineup as the season progresses and establish himself as a formidable 3c option by the end of the year. It will be years until we see his offensive upside on a day to day basis.
  2. Haven't even heard that he's cleared for contact
  3. He's not skating with the team, but has been skating alone
  4. They're all going to rip off other DJ's and play their crap anyways, so who cares? That's my beef with House shows. The main guys play a few of their own songs, and then the majority of their show consists of promoting other people's crap so they all end up sounding pretty damn similar.
  5. I said it to one of my buddies when he first started hyping McGregor..Aldo will kill him with leg kicks. His lead leg is always out there just waiting to get hit and it just so happens that it's surgically repaired. I think Conor is the real deal, I just feel stylistically, Aldo is a very tough matchup for Conor. On Kennedy vs Romero. I think you need to search up #glovegate because Kennedy just as blatantly cheated in that match and it directly resulted in the only offense he was able to conjure. Genie seems to have a real tough time with lefties.
  7. I agree, except for Horvat over Richardson on the third. In a perfect world we'd have that scenario, but he just hasn't shown that he's able to outplay Richie at this point. I certainly think it's possibly that he does so by the end of the year though.
  8. I never commented on this thread before this year, however now, it poses a very viable question. As much as I love Vrbata with the twins, I almost wonder if we're not better off swapping him and Burr just for the sake of spreading out the scoring and getting Burr going. Unless Jensen/Shink can consistently show they can be mainstays on the 2nd line, we have a very serious hole there. Vrbata and Bonino, in theory, seem to be like a very solid pair, obviously leaving Vrbata on the first unit PP. I love Burrows, but realistically, he's never shown he can be a top six producer outside of playing with the twins. Asking him to be one at this point in his career is unfair and is only being done so because of his salary. He's still a very serviceable player, but no where near where he could justify his salary.
  9. I wouldn't go that far, especially after a few preseason games, but I honestly think he will play out the year on the third. He's done as a top six player.
  10. I agree on all accounts. I think at this point in this career , Vey is better suited at wing, especially given our mammoth of a division. Richardson at this point for me is pencilled in as the third line C and Horvat as the 4th. I think as the year goes on Horvat will become more comfortable making plays in the offensive zone. Means one of Hansen or Matthias have to go. I'd say Burrows as well, but he's untradable at this point
  11. Who's going to want him at that salary? We should of sold high on Burrows after the San Jose sweep. We're stuck with him and his 4.5 mil at this point.
  12. There were some rumblings that the Canucks brass were trying to get him over for the 2015-2016 season, but we probably won't hear anything about it until further along in the year. That's definitely the earliest that we'll see him over here.
  13. Benning on Virtanen : I think he will be coming to Main camp.
  14. He looked a lot better and more comfortable when he was switched to a bottom 6 role. I'm still very excited about Gaunce, he's going to be our tough minute muncher. I think he's going to be our new Manny Malhotra in a few years.
  15. From The Province Doubt they keep him around as they haven't even talked to him about it. Unfortunate that he's only a couple weeks late for preseason. Might be for the best though, since he'll have a big role with the Hitmen this year.
  16. Yup , it was garbage. The ref was terrible too.
  17. I'm no flavored whiskey fan, but damn Jack Daniel's Tennessee Honey is some pretty awesome stuff! Highly recommend it.
  18. Young stars is out of the question. He's ahead of schedule so he'll probably come to camp and just participate in the drills. Original time line was that he'd be ready sometime in October. He's definitely going back to Calgary this year for junior though.
  19. Must have been pretty cool for him working with his idol Dan Cloutier. edit : Says it was added yesterday but apparently it's a repost. Still was new to me.
  20. Haha ! That was awesome. "Hey p****, are u still there?" Actually Sonnen was all an act. This was , for once, a legitimate instance of actual human interaction. The real Jon Jones ladies and gentleman
  21. I agree however an "expert" gave me the wrong advice ,everyone's different and our understanding of many injuries continuously evolves. I do however agree it can't big that big of a deal as it's being brushed aside as such. I guess I want to know more so for my own curiosity than anything else.
  22. Well you are because you're crapping on him constantly and calling him a 3c tops. a 3c with a top 10 pick in a supposed deep draft, is a bust. For the record, you're out to lunch
  23. I asked the same thing on HF, and didn't really get any clarity. I've been thinking about Thatcher a lot and his hip problems. I'm a goalie myself and have found myself battling some hip issues myself. I have hip impingement, and I was told that I could put off the surgery for a bit and still stay relatively active so long as I did the proper hip strengthening and avoid certain movements that aggravated the hips. I put off hip arthroscopy for a year and apparently because of it I have lasting problems(albeit pretty minor for a non athlete) such as minor hip degeneration. I've read that Thatcher's hip socket shape is irregularly shaped (similarly worded to mine), and needs to be resurfaced. Now I'm not saying he has the same problem that I've had, or that he will have same problems, but I've read that he's putting off the surgeries for a year. I just can't see how this would be a good decision considering how much stress he puts on his hips on a regular basis. Anyone know anything other than the vague descriptions in the media of his hip problem? My surgery was done at UBC by the same doctor that did Kesler's and I'm having similar problems with my opposite hip now that I've been loading it more because of my right hip surgery. My surgeon recommended I get my other hip done asap to avoid further damage. Curious if anyone knows more specifics on his hip problem and why he's putting it off?
