  1. Great game. Great day of sports, really. Solid effort involved by everyone not named Mattocks today. The guy is such a useless ass. Unaware, unmotivated, and in turn almost screwed over his teammates because of it. Luckily everyone else was up for the challenge.
  2. Vote Dral As per instructions. Where the hell did the sheriff come from though? Were they just chillaxing for the first 3 rounds? Lol.
  3. No, I also played it solo the first time through too. Doesn't really take away anything from the game, because playing with another person doesn't change the dynamics of the gameplay. It is a bit more fun with friends, but not so with random strangers. I bought the game at launch, but I got the season pass for $10 on a sale to play through that with friends though. So much content in that pass that it made for a game in and of itself. Is the pre-seqeul worth $60? I'd say you'd have to have a pretty urgent need to play borderlands, or something. I see the base price for the game dropping sooner rather than later. Like I said, I got it for $36 and have zero regrets. But to pay that much more? I don't think I would, especially if I was budgeting, because of all the other games that came out in this last month.
  4. That's fair enough, but if you have the patience for them they're definitely worth the while. I don't know if you've played XCOM: Enemy Unknown, which was a different game from a different series developed by the same company. It can be slow, but it's combat based, and I dunno, saving the world as you see fit can be pretty fun. One of my favourites from the last few years. As for Beyond Earth, the game is broken on my PC. It won't load the proper resolution options for some reason. I'm stuck at 1024 X 768, or whatever the hell it was. The internet doesn't seem to be a help to my problem. edit: It works when I'm not in fullscreen... so yeah. lol. What a stupid issue to launch the game with. I swear, it's like knowing they'll release a bunch of patches online has developers not too bothered to actually release a functional game at date any more. edit 2: Like The Evil Within patched out whatever the problem was I was having with my resolution. Finally. But why does it have to be after be after the fact?
  5. Sorry to inundate this thread with comments about ancillary aspects of things, but the Beyond Earth intro video was brilliant. Would watch a movie on that.
  6. Vote Kakanucks Decided to go with mau5trap rather than against him. Don't kill me for it, vig.
  7. In terms of actually potentially worthwhile games, I got Beyond Earth. Incredibly spiffy boxart and packaging for a standard edition of a game. I've noticed this to be a trend in the last month across all consoles. Everything is getting overly elaborate packaging and the such. Embossed printing, slip covers, metallic cases, and more. It's pretty awesome. Like with Beyond Earth it looks incredibly polished, sleek and elegant. Evil within has that holographic covering which makes it look like your staring into an empty void. Subtly sets the mood before you even start playing it. It's a nice trend, and I have no idea where it's coming from. But I hope it continues I haven't played a single game in a week now, because work, and having literally 2 term papers, 2 presentations, and 2 exams to deal with at college. Was nice of them to coincide with all these games being released, lol. But this next week will be the laziest one I've ever had. And I've got like 5 games to choose from. Will try Beyond Earth, but I get the feeling that Alien Isolation will end up eating most of my time.
  8. Sorry about being inactive since 1st nightfall. Have been incredibly busy with work and college, and have only finished catching up on my sleep just an hour ago, lol. Haven't even finished catching up with the game. But I'm going to hold my vote for now.
  9. Vote King Alex Has he ever not been Mafia?
  10. Please don't give me the ebola.
  11. * Checks in to see Radishes is back, and hosting a game.
  12. Right. I knew this, but I don't know why I forgot as I was typing it, lol. But yeah, it's like Rupert said, they just kind of showed up expecting San Jose to let them win. San Jose themselves didn't even put up that good of a performance, so all around, I would have expected better. A win from Portland on Saturday throws everything up in the air quite a bit, forcing the Caps to do the same. A win yesterday, and a tie by either Vancouver or Portland in the last game would've locked them in place. If they were stymied by the efforts of the quakes it would've been one thing, but it felt like they treated the whole thing like just another game in the season.
  13. Sounds like a pretty messed up game, playing up real life events, and targeting specific people to buy it. But rather than debate its right to existence, I'd rather ignore it and let it disappear, rather than bring attention to it. Though on the news of upcoming games, I'm pretty pissed off about the Sleeping Dogs sequel announcement. They announced the next game in the series way back when, even giving it a title "Triad Wars". Though now it turns out it won't be an actual standalone game, but some shitfest of a free-to-play MMO. Ughhh.... Square Enix. Despite looking pretty good back in 2012/13, they've taken been doing so much wrong for North American gamers since then, especially with their non-Japanese game studios. Now there's another Vancouver studio wasting there time with this cash vacuum shit, rather than working on actual games.
  14. It was on while in the family room. While I admit to not seeing the whole thing, I'd seen more than enough in different parts, including the ending. Terribad. A couple of laughs had, but it's the exact same as any had during these types of movies. It was a pretty good Rifftrax, thought they've done better. As you said it's probably worth it for the few extra observations. I'd recommend the one they did for the movie Mutant. It's become something of a tradition for me to watch this movie now, with or without their commentary. One of my favourite bad movies.
  15. That was a pretty paltry effort from the players, knowing that a win would have locked them into the playoffs. Poor subbing as well from the coach. They're still in total control of their playoff fate, but you would have hoped to see something a little more.
  16. It's nice when you sit back and watch other teams do your work for you, lol. Still 180 minutes from clinching though, and I'm sure it'll feel like an eternity to the players. But yeah, it would be nice if they made some improvements with the CCL in mind.
  17. Bullet Raja - 0/10 South Indian influence has ruined Bollywood. Or at least took it from being hard to watch, and made it impossible. That southern culture of art and cinema has flooded the rest of India, and it's so bad. Attrocious dialogue, telegraphed suspense, action where everyone goes flipping 9 feet in the air, and everyone just looking and acting like a dork in general. A few years ago it was fringe stuff, subject to ridicule as a self-parody, but it has somehow became the norm. Mostly I blame other Indians who indulge in that crap and let it happen. This movie was no different from the rest that have been coming out. I have a hard time grasping how this movie was a million dollar enterprise, and not a bad comedy. There is zero merit to this film.
  18. Nor am I. I forgot to whine about that, lol. Why the hell is he a playable character? Give me someone even the slightest bit more appealing instead. But I doubt I will ever play as him, so I won't have any insight to offer other than that I wish there was a 4th character I wanted to play with. The other 3 seem cool though.
  19. Tried to play The Evil WIthin, but whenever I put it in 1080P, it becomes off centre, and incredibly large, where most of the game is cut off the screen. I have no idea what the problem is, but it's too late at night to bother trying to fix it. Solid start for the game, lol. edit: Found that the game's edges stop bleeding at 1600X900 resolution, but I gotta fix that shit so it works at 1080. The letterbox black borders, and the locked 30 FPS do make the game feel legitimately like a movie, and I get why they did it, but you're needlessly pissing off a bunch of PC gamers by not letting them change it to their own preference. I wouldn't change it personally, but the option should be there within the game itself. Problem for me seems to be that the FPS dips below 30FPS often, and at that point it looks like a stuttering mess. Maybe me settings are too high, but it shouldn't fluctuate so hard anyways. Sounds like I'm complaining about the nature of the port, but I remain undecided about it. As for the game itself... Holy shit is the game creepy. And gruesome. I find it amusing that the game settings had an option to disable the Graphic Content. ... How exactly? The first thing you literally see as you walk inside is piles of dead nurses. A whole 1 minute later and there's a guy on a hook getting his boy cleaved in half (successfully) .... How do you even begin to hide this? Maybe I should turn on this feature later on, for the lols.
  20. So I loaded up the Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel as well. Off the bat, stating the obvious, it's the exact same game as Borderlands 2. Everyone should already know this before going in. But to clarify, it's the same visuals on the same engine, with the same guns, same actions, and the same combat. It's a standalone expansion, to put it simply. From what I understand, it has enough content to stand as a game, but I cannot state if this is true, obviously, because I just started playing. Is this an acceptable thing? Well, it's an obvious cash grab at an inflated price, but no one is really under any obligation to buy it. It's easy for me to accept it, because I got it for $36 rather than the $60 they charge for it (Amazon, i tell you. Use them, lol), but for someone who has to flip that $60, I'd double back and think about just how much you like Borderlands before you get it. Is it good? Is it fun? In terms of what it provides. I'd say yes. It's written by either the exact same guys, or people who completely understand the humour from Borderlands 2. Funny dialogue, quirky characters, the full Borderlands fixins. There's not much experimentation in combat, because the same brands of weapons have carried over. and you'll already know what brand and elemental matches the class of gun you want. The familiarity of it all both works in sliding you easily into the game. but also takes away from what the game could possibly ever offer as a fresh experience. Having played through the Borderlands 2 DLC's. This feels like a hyper-extended one of those, where you're in a different realm within the same world. Obvious difference in the gameplay itself is with the playable characters. They've again managed to differentiate them into different archetypes, and like the second game they attempt to avoid repeating themselves while finding related classes to past ones, and creating a balance between the 4. I can imagine the shift from choosing between 3 dudes and a chick, to having to choose between 1 dude 2 chicks and a robot will piss off a lot of guys and you'll end up seeing a lot of that enforcer guy running around in random online co-ops. The thing is these characters are good. I've gotten as far as leaving the hyperion station with 2 characters now, and while Athena was a bit of a pain to fight with, Nisha was crazy good. The absence of a siren is my biggest annoyance in all of this, but I would guess considering there's supposed to be limited amounts of them in existence, that a prequel without a number entry in the series would not be the place where they'd want to present another one. The game is visually the exact same as Borderlands 2, so it should run flawlessly for everyone (it's a well done port like the second game). If you have a computer that struggles to play this.... This would be a good indicator that you need a new one. By that same token though, if you have a hard time running some of these flashier new system hogging games, the Borderlands prequel is maybe a good alternative to play. The moon setting itself is pretty cool, and I like how it's being told as a story, so as to incorporate the main characters of the series on the whole. But I hope that they bring in the vault hunters from the second game into the fold this time (seems like they haven't). That's about all I can say with how far I've gotten into it. It's what you'd expect. Almost literally nothing more, nothing less. I just hope that the story carries anywhere near the same weight as it did in Bordlands 2, because that's the most underrated aspect of that game, and it seems like this game could be missing the pull that it had for me.
  21. Well it's good to know that I'm not just talking to myself, lol. For me there tends to be difference between not finishing a game, and putting it off. I put off games all the time, but if they're worth playing, I will get back to them later. Sometimes I finish a game that I know is crap. Just last week. I finally finished the game Thief. It was a bad game. I suppose though partially because of the price that I bought it at, I put myself through it, even if it was months upon months after the fact. It's unoriginal, and uninspired. Gets better as you move through the game, but it's a blurry mess. Linear as hell on missions, and when you're not being lead through corridors, you're lost because the open world makes zero sense, with no landmarks. AI is broken, stealth can either be incredibly simple. and sometimes overly difficult. Graphically impressive game, but everything is just bathed in this unimpressive shade of blue and it's all so bland that there's little the visuals offer artistically. Boring hero, unimpressive story. It was a bad game. Was a poor man's Dishonored. That game was a far better successor to the Thief games of old than this new thing was. More like a poverty stricken homeless man's Dishonored, to be more blunt. I could elaborate on the whole thing in a different post, maybe in the rate the last game you played thread, or something. It's not the worst game in the world (I've played a lot worse), but it's a disservice to the legacy that came before it, and to the developers who had finished making a crazy good game in Deus Ex: Human Revolution before working on this one. It's biggest fault is that it's just boring. The things that the game did right, and did wrong, can be outlined at great length, but it becomes a question of why? The game itself is just to pointless, unmotivated in development, and the lack of motivation passes to the gamer who's just trying to play it. edit: Finish Fire Emblem, lol.
  22. I realized this sounds like a weird thing to just say, but I wanted to word it in a way to make it known that free did not mean pirating, lol. They just gave me a special edition of the game at no cost, because they are incredibly over compensating for the customer. Use Amazon to buy things, lol. This game just keeps getting better. I'm going to stop it to give these other ones a try first, though.
  23. Alien Isolation looks downright gorgeous. My laptop is able to run it on ultra settings. My 1+ year old low-mid range gaming laptop. Ultra settings across the board. I don't know how it's managing, but I get the sense it's going to make the device explode. The game itself feels right claustrophobic, and atmospheric, but I've yet to get into the horror properly. What I can say is that this game seems to run immaculately well on PC (with a controller). Would be better if there were more people there with you surviving, but I suppose that would defeat the whole "isolation" aspect of the game. For a future game, I would love if they did something like remake Alien, or even Aliens, where they let you pick more people from the crew to attempt to win the game with. Start to finish. That would be crazy fun. Elaborate, but fun if they put the effort into it. I got sent this game free (Amazon UK), so I went in with little expectation, if any. I've been pleasantly surprised thus far.
  24. I don't know how good Bayonetta 2 actually is, but I usually listen to what IGN say and do the opposite. If I agree with their score, then I feel like they came to their rating for the wrong reasons anyways. But it's funny that they gave The Evil Within such a high score, and Alien Isolation such a low one, when they're comparative horror games, with a somewhat similar response overall critically, I'm about to pop in Alien Isolation right now, So I'll be able to get a read on that game before the other. Yes, I am acquiring every single game that comes out in October, lol.
