  1. I don't like Gravity. I liked it after the first time watching it, but thinking back on it, I already know it wouldn't hold up for me on a second viewing. But I really liked Avatar, so whatever, lol.
  2. Since the game doesn't have it's own thread, and I don't want to make one for it, at least not yet, is anyone else planning on getting The Evil Within? I've already kind of locked myself into getting it when I got it as a part of the BestBuy/Amazon E3 Pre-order promo package, but I remain generally excited about it. I say generally, because there's something missing for the hype for me, whether it be from the game's previews, or the just general lack of hype surrounding it. I was going to get it on the first day regardless of how it was received, so it's not a bother to me. Not really sure what the quality will be, but I kind of feel I have to trust Shinji Mikami by default. I've seen what happened to the Resident Evil series after the 4th game, and I haven't been amused. So to see him take a stab at a genre in survival horror that I love, but that has been dead for so long now... It has to at least warrant a strong look for me. I absolutely loved those older Resident Evil games. Early release news seems to indicate a may be a poor port to PCs though. I could probably elaborate on just how good or bad it is though when I get it.
  3. I think it's an important point of distinction. The team stagnating and doing little of anything to correct it (for whatever reason) was probably the biggest theme of the regular season. Hoping it all ends on a well enough note though.
  4. No they haven't. They started on fire. Then they cooled off dramatically. A drastic contrast between the two, with the drought period dragging on, past the transfer window closing. They should have done something more, but didn't. After Kenny Miller we were relying on the alternating hot play of a couple of strikers, and Morales. It's no different at this moment, other than that there's also Rosales now. That massive gap between those two streaks is the problem with relying on young players going on a tear. Often you'll see time where none of them are able to do anything. If we can sneak in to the playoffs, that will be awesome, and would be deserving, with the effort they put into this last game to shut down Seattle. Though I hope it doesn't lead to any kind of delusion that they don't need a massive input on the striker front this off-season.
  5. Ugh, why do we have to sit through Nick Kyprios and Damien Cox trying to tell us about hockey, as if they know things. Sportsnet's in game production is looking good, but they have managed to make the HNIC intermissions somehow worse.

Just their hockey insider work in general. It's painfully awful.

At least you're focusing on the right thing. You know what ticks me off? Kypreos' lopsided hairline

  6. 22 Jump Street - 6.5/10 I dunno, it was pretty blah. I laughed more than enough, but I was thinking of how much better I liked the first one the whole time. I think the first one had the right balance of self-reference and self-depreciation, and while this movie was right to joke about its existence, and was often hilarious about it, it began to come off as smarmy after a while. It still felt a little tired, despite trying to overcome that by being about as upfront with it as they possibly could. Began to have the reverse effect. Still a comedy that was better than most you'll find though.
  7. Stuck in Love - 5.5/10 It was a movie. I watched it. Sleepaway Camp - ? / 10 Enjoyed it a lot at the beginning, but less so as the movie went on. The cheese started to blend together when there weren't enough stand out moments to hold up the whole thing. More than anything, the dialogue and its delivery made the movie. A lot of quotable lines, but again, mostly at the beginning. My other favourites include Judy wearing a pink shirt that said "Judy" on it. Monty pretty much covered all the memorable things I thought it was a bit of a decent whodunit, until they kept hinting at the truth so heavily that it became obvious. Also knowing there was a twist going in, it made me on the look for possibilities that were out of the ordinary. That final shot though... That was weird. Not in a sense of "haha that was funny" kind of weird, but instead a, "someone please flush that image out of my head", type of weird. It's probably stuck there. and if anything, kind of ruins the movie for me, lol. It was worth my time to see this movie, but it's not something I want to watch again. Probably because of that ending. Would say I've seen a lot of better bad movies, though I guess by that same token most are not as memorable as Sleepaway Camp.
  8. I decided yes. I'm incredibly intrigued, lol. Though I've seen enough similar movies, within the horror genre and out, that I will be holding it to a standard.
  9. But seriously it was funny watching Manneh simultaneously both fuel and kill the offense on his own the first half. Solid goal, solid effort though.
  10. I always love when this Seattle crowd chants. It's like they're taunting their own team with a schoolyard jeer. Seeeatttle!
  11. If I didn't know any better, I would think this movie was your KK Rev.
  12. Sadly not. I guess I could just watch Sleepaway Camp instead.
  13. Alien is the better movie, but in many ways I find Aliens just more pleasurable to watch. I don't think you could go wrong with either. Alien3 though... yeah, that's where i zoned out of the franchise. Not related to cinema itself, but I'm probably going to start playing Alien: Isolation tomorrow. Will see how faithful the game is.
  14. What, is he not allowed to have a dislike of the games out there? He's not complaining about the price, but even that can be debated. I do almost all my gaming on PC, but it's hard to say those types of games that have made it distinct in the past are nearly as prominent. Large number of ports from consoles, and smaller scale indie games. There aren't that many dedicated major productions. Even a lot of the more cool looking PC standalones like Divinity, Wasteland, and Banner Saga were all crowd funded. You'll get your company of heroes, your civilizations and what have you, but there isn't that strong culture with Major PC standalones. Plus, when it comes to saving money, I see so many people splurging on bundles and sales that never touch anywhere near half their library. Not the case with everyone, but it's enough of a thing where i have to wonder how much money they're saving. Also have to play games months after everyone else has finished them. A good option if you're patient and smart, but not a lot of people are both.
  15. There was still the whole schlock horror thing at the time, where it was like certain movies weren't trying to be anything other than cheap. Sharknado was a poor comparison, but there are a lot of bad horror movies that are unwatchable from the time..
  16. I'll give it a watch. But in such a movie, it would depend on if they were genuinely trying to make a good film, or an intentionally bad one. That's what makes The Room so awesome, and Sharknado not so much.
  17. Also a solid, fun to watch match last night. Rosales was on fire out there. Fernandez and Hurtado played great as well. Can enjoy these moments for however long it lasts when the offense manages to finally click.
  18. I don't have an exact explanation, other than that it was a continuation of their game from a few weeks ago, when they were ejected (i think last time it was Martyn Pert and their assistant, not their head coach)
  19. 12 Years a Slave - 9.5/10 There's just too much good I have to say about this movie. I will say what struck me more than anything watching the movie was the patience the movie had to hold its long consistent shots. Managed to evoke something different every time, without throwing too much of anything on the screen. Just letting the moments speak for themselves, adding nothing direct to the narrative, but a lot of perspective.
  20. I'd say that's the best way to put it. I think the imagery both hides and hints at various bits of the delusion. Of all my favourite movies it has to be one of the best shot. No man. I dream about whatever I want. It was a serious film. Consciously more so than the Wicker Man, where i think there was at least an awareness of the surreal nature of it. M Knight is just really, really bad at what he does. A couple of years ago i made a thread between the 2, asking which people thought was funnier. I would say The Happening is more constantly humorous, but The Wicker Man has the better moments. You can't go wrong with either though.
  21. Mulholland Drive was a brilliant movie, IMO. Top 5 all time for me.
