Considering how things started this off-season, I'm surprised to say I'm more then content with the actions taken afterwards. I might go as far as to say that I'm optimistic about the year. I don't know that we have enough skill in finishing to ensure that enough goals will be scored, but the team's time on possession, and general offensive flair should be going up.
Getting back into the playoffs shouldn't be out of the question. It's hard to say these things without seeing all these new additions in a proper MLS game, but they look like they should be fine. The team has a very solid midfielding core, as it stands. The biggest question would be whether or not the new guys with the DP contracts can play up to the standards of a stand out player. (You have to be inherently sceptical, with much of how Vancouver's history with such contracts has gone.
Getting Beitashour to replace the retired Lee was great, and a lucky break. Getting Laba and Pedro Morales to fill the holes at midfield seems like a solid move. The two Uruguayans used the preseason to work their way into the rotation, and that's impressive. I remain incredibly sceptical about the idea of either Mattocks or Manneh being relied on consistently to take that role in front, and I hope Kenny Miller ends up receiving the majority of it as the season goes on.
