  1. Not sure, ask the guy that made the tweet. Was at the top of canucks trending.
  2. 1. Something's gotta give - we have a glut of bottom 9 type guys still. 2. Depth contributions - we need guys like Beagle and Sutter to chip in some goals. 3. More point shots thru feet - don't care from where,or when our D and high F take them, you miss all the shots you don't take. 4. Some snarl - Roussel is coming back, him, Ferland, and maybe Zack MacEwen are going to annoy the $#!^ out of the league. 5. Consistent effort - I will be the first to call out lazy periods and players. Making the cut - I want to see MacEwen Gaudette Virtanen line at some point this season. Waive Schaller,Motte, Goldy Addition - Most looking forward to seeing how ROUSSEL backs up his best ever season from last year. Surprise - A healthy Sutter on the fourth line would make me happy to cheer for the most expensive 4th line in the league. Loui Sutter Beags Breakthrough - Jake needs to put up 40 points this season. Time is a tickin'... My fantasy - the entire team dressed in chainmail uniforms and lots of explosions between whistles. ------------------------ Ferland Petey Boeser Pearson Bo Miller MacEwen Gaudette Jake Loui Sutter Beagle (Leivo) ------------------------- Edler Myers Hughes Tanev Benn Stetcher (Biega) ------------------------- Marky (57) Demko (25) Trade Baertschi or Leivo, there's no room for either when Roussel returns anyhow. Something's gotta give with the bottom 9 glut.
  3. I have a feeling that we are going to see a couple of the mid 6 tweeners break through the ice ceiling. Gaudette/MacEwen, something like this has the potential to really surprise.
  4. This is litigious harassment at its worst. Would be nothing if Matthews was a nobody, there's no way its 'worth' anyone's time! But this security guard knows he has money, as does her creepy lawyer. This whole story from top to.. bottom, is scummy.
  5. https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/ben-kuzma-fifth-round-2019-pick-carson-focht-may-be-a-diamond-in-rough Ben Kuzma: Fifth-round 2019 pick Carson Focht may be a diamond in rough Passed over in the 2018 draft, Carson Focht displayed a growing game at prospects camp Carson Focht is making quite the first impression with a second chance. Passed over in the 2018 NHL draft, the Calgary Hitmen centre was selected in the fifth round by the Vancouver Canucks on June 22 at Rogers Arena on the strength of a strong WHL season in which the Regina native amassed 64 points (26-38) in 68 games. He then followed his draft selection with another good effort last month at the World Junior Summer Showcase in which he played a solid two-way game and showed off some soft hands. “He made a really big impression on me in the (June) development camp,” Canucks senior director of player development Ryan Johnson, who also serves as general manager of the Utica Comets, said Monday after the three-day prospects camp wrapped up at Rogers Arena. “He’s a powerful kid and he has a year on the more recent drafts, but he’s got a great skating stride and a powerful foundation and some snarl to his game — which I love. “He just jumped off the page and we wanted him to have the experience here and take the confidence into main camp and rub shoulders with our group there. I’m expecting a big year from him. I was picking the brain of Judd Brackett (Canucks director of amateur scouting) on him and how did he get passed over and go that late again? “I don’t view players as to where they were picked, I just view them as a bunch of players and he just looks like he belongs. And that was one of the biggest takes from development camp and this (prospects camp). This wasn’t an evaluation based camp, we had drills so they could put their best foot forward and when we watch main camp for them to be in their best places.” Carson Focht, shown here during Vancouver Canucks prospect camp, had 64 points in the WHL last season. NICK PROCAYLO / PNG Focht attended the Boston Bruins prospects camp a year ago but being part of an organization, instead of an invitee, isn’t lost on him. It’s only fuelled his desire. “It’s a huge honour and I didn’t care where I went in the draft. But I was very happy and I want to prove to them (Canucks) that they made the right decision,” said the 6-foot, 177-pound Focht. “It’s a very pro environment around here and I’m learning something every day, whether that’s talking to coaches or little things in the game or working with the skating coach. I can take a lot back from that but to play at the next level I know I need to get faster and strengthen my game. “A lot of these guys are a lot bigger and pretty much men and for battling in the corners, I need to get in the weight room a lot more to hold off guys and make quick plays down low.” Focht doesn’t want to put a label on his late-blooming career, but did cite a trade from the Tri-City Americans to the Hitmen as being a key cog in his development. He’ll be joined next WHL season by defenceman Jett Woo, the Canucks second-round 2018 pick, who was traded in the off-season by the Moose Jaw Warriors. “Maybe I didn’t get the opportunity earlier in my WHL career, but I was fortunate to be traded where I really fit in,” added Focht. “And I like to think I played GM a bit there and helped get Jett there in the deal. We talked about it for a while and he’s going to be a real presence in our locker-room and on the ice.” Focht didn’t really know what to expect in this past draft. There were some conversations with the Canucks during last season but nothing to indicate something tangible. He wasn’t even in Vancouver for the draft because he was participating in a charity 3-on-3 event for Humboldt Broncos forward Adam Herold, who died in the tragic bus crash. “It was pretty special to be there with all my buddies and my family back in Regina,” he said. “It was a very special day. I didn’t play with him (Herold) but got to know him through training camps around the area.” OVERTIME: Travis Green has more than a passing interest in ongoing negotiations to get restricted free agent winger Brock Boeser signed to an extension before main camp. “I want him at camp badly,” said the Canucks coach. “I know he loves the game and I want it for him and I know he doesn’t not want to be here. I want him to be here for his teammates and to help us win. Being here early in camp is really important. You miss that time and it’s hard. The first three days of pace sets you up. Your body gets pushed and recovers and gets pushed and recovers and that takes you to the first game of the year. I do understand the business side of it, but I also learned not to worry about the things you can’t control.”
  6. Marner's contract isn't that bad, he is one hell of a player, willing to stop the puck with his face. Laine on the other hand, is a floater, with a face.
  7. Brock had an undisclosed leg injury, and that whole thing of him not starting the rookie season was media mucking, and CDC hyperbole which has turned into cloudy (albeit incorrect) revisionist lore among fans. He had a leg issue, that's it. If AG doesn't make it, it's just business and his time will come.
  8. He probably gets send down until Benning makes room for him, which he's earned. Its just how the roster management works, and has nothing to do with him. You can see him gaining skill and confidence, and size too. The kid has a huge frame. I am excited for his future, and his (full) time will come, soon.
  9. Now Patrick can get back to the set of filming The Hills Have Eyes 3.
  10. First relevant, league wide trend setting bridge deal. Brock's deal broke the floodgates, and Benning set the meta.
  11. Jets fans had best thank Mr. Benning for this one.
  12. Here's a question. Who goes when Roussel is ready to go? Yeah, we still have that guy, and it is glorious days ahead with him and Ferland out there on back to back shifts.
  13. Roussel Beagle Jake would be a pretty tasty 4th line. I think Zack gets sent down, too many contracts. But he makes the team out of camp next year, and is called up at some point this year.
  14. Zack has a motor. I want to see him on this team.
  15. I still really quite dislike Green/Baumgartner's passive defense system of collapsing to the center of the ice, and use your stick to either block shots, or interrupt passes. The opposing team has full reign on the outside of that circle, and I find it to be very amateurish, not to mention near stroke inducing.
  16. Dirty head hunting hit on Chatfield there. At least there was a little jam after.
