  1. Love how advanced stats go back and forth from being voodoo garbage and not depending on if we suck at them or not lol.

I will say, it's only the rare occasions where I'll actually read something that does a full unbiased analysis using statistics. Usually, if someone wants to prove something, they hardly ever present the other side of it, which is pretty standard if you have a 2 person debate, but perhaps that mentality's also the very problem that gives statistics a bad name.

Simply put, the statistics are only as effective as the person using those statistics. If someone is biased then the statistics used in that person's argument runs the risk of also being biased.

Statistics are always lame, well 97% of the time. A tool for those who haven't actually played or watched much to try desperately to understand what's is going on. Useful at high levels like professional coaching but really shouldn't be used by common people, like those on CDC.

They are merely a record of something that's happened and are useless without context. More useless in hockey than other sports since they try to bend simple stat taking and project that onto more complex processes. Pretty useless stuff.

Tired of this reductive garbage by people who just want to feel superior. Some on here are for advanced stats, some are against them, and most fall somewhere in between. A useful tool, but only when combined with the eye test. Trying to paint everyone as flip flopping on the issue is disingenuous and lazy on your part.
