  1. So because you disagree with my overall opinion on Benning, you don't think it would be possible for me or anyone else to predict that the Eriksson signing would turn out bad? Alright lol
  2. Thank you. Being an educator is a tough job around here but someone's gotta do it. I'm willing to jump on that grenade for CDC.
  3. Can't imagine we survive without Myers. Would probably have to relocate if he wasn't on the team.
  4. Probably on this board, but not everywhere, especially outside Vancouver.
  5. Would I have predicted the drop-off being as hard and sudden as it was? No. Would I have signed that contract if I was the GM? Not a chance, and that's not hindsight. That's how I felt on day 1.
  6. Like the others, I at least hope you're being paid for this.
  7. Pretty much guaranteed we'll see at least one given that end-of-season presser. Don't think Benning would have specifically said the B word if they hadn't already planned on it.
  8. 6M of essentially dead cap space for 6 years during a rebuild had no impact? Or are you one of those "cap space doesn't matter during a rebuild" people?
  9. What a wonderful world we live in where everybody is great at their job and everyone is working exactly the job they are perfectly suited for.
  10. People make plans, god laughs. The smart ones come up with contingencies so they don't run out of time.
  11. I am one who does think that the overall level of passion/care has died down quite a bit but I don't think that's the case here. Probably had a lot more to do with the pandemic + stupid thing to protest.
  12. Says the guy who is constantly using zone starts incorrectly, gets corrected/educated all the time, and just ignores it and keeps going.
  13. Jim, what aspect on the managerial side do you think you need to improve going forward? "Moving the AHL team closer will help." Thanks, Jim
  14. It's eerie how closely the posts of some of the most adamant company line towers around here resemble the FA statement and JB comments. As @Alain Vigneault says: Makes you wonder...
  15. Not a surprise. Benning is tied to Green, doubt he could get away with a 3rd hire.
  16. Refreshing to see someone online admit they were wrong and own it. I'd like to say I'd do the same, but I've never had the opportunity.
  17. He does need to improve but I don't know if he's ever going to be the guy that we trust to match up against top lines. I think we'd be better served to find a shutdown pairing. He can still get his 22-23 mins it'll just be PP and partially sheltered ES minutes.
  18. Hughes coming out of his very stinky early season funk. It still wasn't an amazing season overall, but it was a nice sign to see him dig himself out. 41 in 56 for a 20 YO D-man with not too much offensive help in an "not amazing year" is of course nothing to sneeze at. I hope a proper off-season and a relatively "normal" season next year will be the right environment for him to round out his game.
  19. Don't we all? We're human, after all. Well most of us. Excluding the bots Aquilini hired that have infiltrated this place, of course.
  20. If Benning took the job and followed orders that he knew were doomed to fail, he is a fool. Before Benning took this job, he was a highly-regarded executive in the NHL. His name often came up in conversations about which AGM's could find a GM job elsewhere. He didn't need this job, he didn't take it out of desperation. I imagine he was getting paid just fine in Boston, and there would have been other opportunities for him if it wasn't the Canucks. So he's either a fool for doing all the dumb stuff, or a fool for listening to the guy telling him to do dumb stuff. Either way, the conclusion is the same.
