Normal people don't earn millions of dollars by their early-20s. Professional star athletes don't have as much time as we normal folks do to learn how to manage personal wealth when they're focused on training, practicing and playing almost everyday. Not making excuses for Kane, but that's his not "normal" reality and is probably a major contributing factor to his financial troubles.

Congrats to him, but also thankful that he'll no longer be doing the play-by-play for Saturday night Canuck games.

Where do I sign up

I got some money I'll need in roughly 3 years. Anyone got any short-term investment ideas? The only thing I can think of right now is a GIC. Not expecting any magnificent returns by any means, but I just want something to put the money to work during the 3 years I can set it aside for. At the end of the day, if a 1-2% rate GIC is all I can find, I'll be fine with that, but I thought I'd might as well ask around to gather more ideas.

It's free money. People need to stop complaining about long it took to apply and how long it's going to take to get it - you'll get your money. Not sure what those who spent hours trying to apply right on the 18th were expecting.
