  1. Bergevin pulling a Benning with all these bad off-season contracts.
  2. As someone who's from Vancouver and currently living in Toronto and also around Schmidt's age, I can say that Vancouver and Toronto are both fine cities to live in. Both are also just as unaffordable. I would make the argument however that Toronto-proper is way more diverse than Vancouver. The suburbs around the GTA are a whole different story though. There's a better nightlife in Toronto but the weather is absolutely atrocious compared to Vancouver and outdoor activities are greatly limited.
  3. Don't be surprised if we take a step back in the standings this year and even potentially miss the playoffs. Need to get out of these bad contracts first before we become a true contender. 1 more year of mediocrity might be the last bit of growing pain we're going to have to endure.
  4. Far from great, but you can see the improvement in his abilities as a GM over the years. Remember, this is his first gig as a GM.
  5. Hopefully. Or who knows, being Bettman's prized expansion franchise, maybe they'll be permitted to bury Pietrangelo's contract when he turns 35 and has an "equipment allergy" like Hossa.
  6. In case some of you haven't noticed yet... Edler's $6 million cap hit is off the books at the end of next season.
  7. Exactly. Even after signing Petey and Hughes you want to leave some cap room. Just squeezing them in and leaving no cap space turns the Canucks into another top-heavy mess like Edmonton and Toronto are right now.
  8. My impression is that Benning's trying to keep a salary cap buffer even after signing Petey and Hughes. If Benning doesn't do that, those two monster contracts are going to force the team to be way too top-heavy like Toronto is right now.
  9. I certainly do. Sutter, Edler, Baertschi, Spooner buyout, Benn and Pearson. Unfortunately, Demko also has to be re-signed and he'll probably be due for a raise with his heightened responsibilities next season. The way it's looking right now, Edler will also probably get re-signed as he'll be more depended upon next season. Pearson could get re-signed, and if he does, it'll be something similar to his current $3.75 million. And Benning might want to keep some cap space for 1 veteran RD. And we still have Virtanen and Gaudette to re-sign this off-season. And my $14 million estimate for Pettersson and Hughes is absolute best-case scenario. They'll easily fetch over $7 million AAV. I'm not defending Benning here. His previous contracts are what's causing this mess. But it's pretty clear that he's thinking long-term and doesn't want to end up in a salary cap mess similar to the likes of what Edmonton and Toronto are currently in.
  10. Huh? Eriksson becomes a UFA in 2022-2023. Hughes and Pettersson become RFAs in 2021-2022.
  11. You people do realize that we need over $14 million in cap space AT LEAST to afford Pettersson and Hughes, right? Eriksson doesn't come off the books for another two years.
  12. This is the price Benning has to pay for those bad contracts he gave out a few years ago. Just be thankful that we'll have enough cap space to sign Hughes and Pettersson next year.
  13. Best of luck to Stecher. I happened to meet him during a round of paintball a couple of years ago. Nice dude.
  14. 6.25M AAV for Matt Murray making me wonder what kind of expensive contract Markstrom is going to get. Also makes more sense as to why Benning went with Holtby.
  15. Perhaps, but I thought Vancouver would have been fine enough; the Coyotes are moving to the Central Division (I think?) after Seattle joins the league anyways.
  16. South Park's COVID special episode is an ingenious piece of satire for the year of 2020 thus far.

It is!  I haven't watched Southpark in about 4 years but this was brilliant!  Should I go back and watch the Disney episode?  Give me a couple of recommendations from the last two seasons

The Disney plus episode from last season featuring Scott Malkinson was a great piece of storytelling

The Amazon episodes from S22 were great, and a boy and the priest from that same season

Oh and also the transpbobia episode from last year slayed. Great satire on trans athletes and peoples attitudes towards them

  17. Aren't the Sens one of the few teams who actually might have trouble reaching the cap floor? I could be wrong. but if I'm not wrong...Eriksson...? In all seriousness though, I wonder if Eriksson would actually be considered? Most of his salary is paid out and it's just the cap hit that'll be carried over. Might be a cheap option for a cash-strapped team like the Sens to reach the floor? Salary aside, Eriksson brings in as much value as Ryan, arguable even more because of his defensive play.
  18. Wallstreetbets sub-reddit is a total doozy to read this morning And wow, look at NKLA go.
  19. SHLL dropped 20%, but it's recovered a lot since. Opportunity for me to just buy more shares
