  1. So...I've skimmed over the last few pages in this thread.

...and no, communism doesn't work. When it starts, someone will ALWAYS step up to the plate and tip the scale in their favour. While true communism has never been practiced, true communism in and of itself cannot be achieved in the world we live in today.

Take some economics courses, it doesn't work. It shows in the numbers. You can't centrally plan an economy, its inefficient and leads to corruption at the top. China figured that out and gradually transitioned into capitalism, look at the country now. It also shows in history. Spain came close with its short anarchist period. But guess what happened? Someone came over and messed it all up. I wonder who that was...and what happened after...

That being said, the human species is forever evolving. Hell, it's only been about 20 years since apartheid ended in South Africa. That means a lot, that means that, only 20 years ago, a huge group of people on this planet actually genuinely believed that a certain race of the same species were somehow less developed and deserved to be treated like second-class citizens. Hundreds of years ago, we even fought countless bloody wars over who's God was better. Give or take another hundred years, maybe humans will come to realize that money and wealth isn't everything.

But that's not the case now. Why should I as hard as I am now when I receive less? Basic human logic. Simply raising taxes is not a viable solution in the modern economy. Sorry, but as sad as it sounds, the first thing I am going to do when I get my first real job out of college is to think about how to spend the salary I am going to be getting on my family and myself. I have a life to live, and how to making it as enjoyable as possible comes first over starving children in the third world.

  2. This is one player I would have no problem unloading some of our young talent for.

He's a proven 30 goal scorer and one of the best young powerforwards in the game. Unfortunately I don't think Gillis has the balls or the brains to make a move like that.

    But imagine:

    Sedin Sedin Kane

    Burrows Kesler Kassian

A much bigger and tougher top 6. Honestly if Gillis doesn't wake up and realize this is what it's gonna take to compete against teams like LA, San Jose, and St.Louis, it's gonna be another wasted season. Right now we're just kidding ourselves if we think our top 6 in it's current form can compete with the top teams in the west in the playoffs.

Holy crap, 'dat top 6 doe.

  3. Thanks for the replies. I guess I should keep some carbs in because I felt absolutely exhausted after writing my midterm today, but there are still a lot of opinions out there that suggest keeping carbs to a low level. I'll see how it goes for a couple of weeks.

And is maintenance simply just body weight x 15?

  4. Hey guys, need some help here on cutting.

I'm going 3-4 days a week to the gym and got a nice workout routine going, but when it comes to my diet, I'm so damn confused. I understand that a low amount of carbs is the key to losing fat while running a calorie deficit? But then some people are saying that some carbs like kidney beans are fine because they're considered to be "slow carbs?"

Right now this is what I usually eat:

    Breakfast:

    Veggie Frittata (around 4 eggs)

Homemade granola (just a bunch of nuts and oats) mixed with non-fat Greek Yogurt

    Lunch:

A bit of brown rice with chicken breast and veggies

    Dinner:

Chilli with lean ground beef, veggies, and beans.

And on days I workout, I usually eat that with a protein shake that I mix with banana, milk, and greek yogurt.

So are carbs really that bad in terms of gaining fat? Any other suggestions in burning fat? Thanks guys!

  5. I don't know about you guys but I'm ready for a snowfall right about now.

Beautiful weather but a total scorcher today!

    Oh God, please, no.

Just about 5 degrees cooler with this sun, and I'll be happy with the weather year round. This is awesome.

  6. ...so when am I going to hear that glass shatter and hear "STONE COLD. STONE COLD!"

I just want to hear that one more time during a RAW episode.

And if anything, I'd like to see the old Cena and his "Thuganomics" gig at to make him tolerable at the least by this point.

  7. I've been envying all the SFU students this entire week. Stupid rain at UBC...walking from class to class is a huge pain, while at SFU, you can just walk indoors to get to your next class!

  8. :picard: at least Gangnam Style wasn't entirely pointless (though many people miss the point if they don't bother researching that it has satirical purposes); this Harlem Shake would be fun to do but I reckon it'll get old quick.

Hope that after some Har har's , YouTube'll let 'em shake their way out of peoples' minds and Favorites and into recycle bins. Come on society, you can do better!

It's just some people having some fun...

I actually find these videos funny, but of course I'll get tired of it very soon. But still, no need to get angry over it.

  9. Well, the newest internet trend has arrived, and its about time.

Here's the one that started it all:

There are hundreds of others, here's my personal favourite:

All the universities are joining in the fun and hopefully UBC will show how its done later this week.

How long do you guys think this is going to last?
