  1. On Boeser, I agree. On Miller, no. His contract value is fair for teams that are interested in having him long-term. Horvat got signed for 8.5 x 8 and the same just happened with Larkin. 8 x 7 for Miller doesn't sound like a crazy idea if you're a team who's going to stay competitive for the foreseeable future. If Miller gets traded, you could honestly see it as a long-winded sign & trade.
  2. Bad management, yes. Should we have traded them last year? Yes. Are we begging them to take them? No, they're still positive assets that could help any team trying to make a run. I wouldn't mind holding onto Boeser if there aren't any attractive deals, not much term on his contract anyways. Probably won't be competitive within his contract's timespan.
  3. Pens unlikely to make it past the first round. Same thing for the Isles, if they even make it to the post-season.
  4. I just want draft picks. Unless Carolina comes out of nowhere and gets Miller by giving up Morrow.
  5. I still think management mis-judged the state of this team. The dollar amount on Miller's contract is fair, it's the term that's the problem. That on top of inheriting OEL's contract - you've got problems. So eat the mistake and trade Miller.
  6. Stop teasing us like that. ...but yes please. I want that 1st round pick. Mid-round pick since Pens are likely to get knocked out in the first round.
  7. Unfortunately yes. Let's just hope that Allvin and Rutherford are willing to admit their mistake, as they did with Stillman.
  8. If teams are willing to sign their star players to this kind of a deal, there should be a least a few teams willing to take on Miller's contract.
  9. As an aside, watching Nashville and Washington pivot as quick as they are... Makes me wish our management had the balls to do that back in 2012-2015... The amount of picks Nashville has been able to accumulate in such short amount of time doesn't happen unless you have the self-awareness that success requires patience, even in spite of a Finals appearance not too long ago.
  10. Yeah I don't like the idea of the Canucks retaining in any trade. We need as much cap space as possible to sign Petey, he's due for a huge payday.
  11. ^This Too early to say that OEL won't work under Tocchet. I'd like to see what OEL can do in a more stable environment with a better D-partner. Is he ever going to play to the level like he did when he carried Arizona's defence for all those years? Probably not, but I think he can still be a reliable 4th defenseman quarterbacking PP2 once in a while.
  12. I still think there's the possibility for him to thrive in a less chaotic Canucks team under Tocchet. He certainly doesn't carry the play and may never play up to what he's getting paid, but there's hope for a sub-optimal outcome.
  13. I think it's the best we can do out of a crappy situation. Not claiming it's ideal by any means.
  14. I still personally believe OEL can thrive in a lower-pressure role. Chaos giraffe hasn't exactly been conducive to his play.
  15. I know Canucks are desperate for RHD, but Hughes, POJ, OEL down the left side is makin me drool.
  16. His contract is meh, but I wouldn't go as far as to say he's overpaid. That being said, if this rumour holds true, we better be getting a draft pick as well.
  17. I think my argument still stands. The theme behind my argument is complaining about not making a trade even when the reported offer was incredibly low, and then proceeding to complain about a trade in similar fashion but with a higher return.
  18. This is a good point. If the Canucks are going to make a case to Schenn to re-sign with them in the off-season, Allvin and Co. will want to do the best they can to accommodate for Schenn's situation. By doing that, you potentially ending up losing a handful of bidders and driving down the price via less competition.
  19. Weren't we all complaining when Benning decided to keep Hamhuis because he was only getting offered a single late-round pick for him before he eventually walked in the off-season? And now we're all complaining for only getting a 3rd for Schenn? CDC never ceases to amaze me.
  20. I wouldn't mind seeing the Rangers beat the Lightning if it gets to that point. As for the lackluster return for Chicago...Kane has a no movement clause. NY was probably the only team he was willing to move to. Remember the constraints Benning had to work with when trading Kesler?
