  1. Someone please tell me what Pro League Virtanen's game is going to work in.
  2. You can't label them as Busts, you can't proclaim them as stars, in their first year in their league, im glad we are in agreement. What we can do is look at what has been shown in the present and judge that Solely based on Today. Going by that, Jake would probably be given a C on his season so far as a Pro, both on the AHL and NHL, and a C- so far at the WJC's. That doesn't mean he won't be a hell of s player, that doesn't even mean he won't improve and start to dominate in a week. But from what we have seen so far..
  3. Okay so then don't complain about Chris Higgins for the rest of the year
  4. It's really not blind hate. I cheer for the logo, not the name bar, and I'd love to be proven wrong by him, but if you have found his play so far inspiring, I've got a farm on the moon I can sell you. Once he has a good game I'll be the first to point out he's had a good game, but enough with these excuses.
  5. He wasn't as bad as he was against the Americans which I guess is an improvement. He did have a couple good shifts but an average game in a game where his teamates had brilliant ones. But he's playing a 'pro game' so that's good enough.
  6. I think I know how that story ends
  7. What exactly are you going to take from his game against Denmark? This was the toughest game of the pre round robbin stage, and Jake had a poor game if you want to go easy on him. Having said that he had a great game before against Sweden. You say re-examine expectations, but have not had a pick that high since the Sedins, you needed to hit that pick out of the park. Everyone talks about rebuild on the fly. The 6th overall pick in that draft class was your golden ticket. Hey if he doesn't turn out we will have a few more so we can thank him for that. I'm not saying give up on him, in fact I think he will turn into a serviceable player, AFTER he spends next year and the year after in the AHL. What's irritating, is that you have guys like Brendan Gaunce and Hunter Shinkrauk, who have put in the time in the minors, struggled, only to succeed, and then you have Jake who has been gifted a spot on the team, because management needs to sell tickets.
  8. Except we saw the exact same thing last year, but he had the crutch of coming off of surgery, and being one of the youngest there. Whats his excuse this time?
  9. While I agree with what you said, I'm not sure if you watched the game Vs. the Swedes a couple days ago, but he played maybe the best hockey game I've seen him play including his time with Vancouver. Made hits, creative passes, and a couple goals to boot. He played much below expectations today, and while I'm not the biggest fan of his, saying he hasn't shown anything recently is wrong.
  10. Jake Virtanen flying down the wing... pokechecked. Jake Virtanen with a sharp angle shot... deflected off a stick into the netting. x3 jake Virtanen on the PP. Cuts to the middle and skates the puck out of the zone. I don't think he hit anyone either. Look back a couple pages, I was loving his game Vs Sweden, I don't blindly hate, but he did not play well.
  11. Yes Larkin is having a great year but you have to consider the opportunity as well. Larkin got to play right off the hop with Zetterberg and Nyquist/Tatar. Virtanen if I'm not mistaken had Dorsett and Prust for his first few games. Larkin is the better all around hockey player, thats not really up for debate, but Jakes' stats would look a lot different on a team like Detroit.
  12. He had an outstanding first, good second, and wasn't as bad as his teamates in the third. Overall a very good performance.
  13. No, Tryamkin would be the big monster Dman we've been in a never ending search for. I haven't seen much of Brisbeois seems simmilsr to Hutton, which is still good
  14. Ladies and gentlemen. David Booth. Not a slight on him, pre concussion was s very exciting player.
  15. He won't get cut but he might be relegated to the fourth line like he was last year.
  16. Then what is the expectation for a 6th overall pick? A guy who can skate in a straight line really fast?
  17. No. From the moment the Canucks did their Summer player press conferences and had Jake sit in with the big boys, it was obvious that he was making the team. Benning has even gone on record the previous season, stating that he wanted Jake in the lineup. Now don't get me wrong, I agree that he did enough at the 9 game mark to warrant a spot in the lineup at the time of his 9 game benchmark, however something would have had to go DISASTROUSLY wrong, for him to have not made the team.
  18. Good Job Alf! You've come a long way from the Demko for 2016/2017 Starter movement a few months ago
  19. Jake needs to go, his spot is not cemented like Jared's is and would be just as easily replaced by Gaunce seeing as he's not hitting anymore
  20. Larkin top 2 in a redraft?

    1. hatedkid666

      hatedkid666

      third behind Mccann and Virtanen

    2. Odd.

      Odd.

  21. I didn't like at the start of the season how the Canucks already had Jake up with the team doing the presason media scrums like a veteran, no other prospects were given that treatment, not even golden child Bo Horvat. It was never a question of if he made the team of not.
  22. So because it is a Canucks Forum means you can't think logically about other players in the league? How much did you support Patrick White? Jordan Schroeder? There is a difference between supporting players and being oblivious to the success of others. its still early but Jake is looking more and more like he should have been taken in the 24 spot, and Detroit makes everyone look foolish once again? or are you going to tell me Jake is having a better season Than Larkin?
  23. This is one game where he probably should have been benched in the third period and wasn't. Make one mistake fine, make mistake after mistake, to go with penalty after penalty? I'd fully support the decision to have him watch a few games and give Hunter a chance in his spot.
