  1. There was also plans to develop around Rogers Arena, slightly expand it. And have Condos and commerical sites attached to it. I'm wondering if the city said no.
  2. I've always wondered if part of the reason Bobby Orr's knee's gave out, is he was running flat out every shift. Other defenders would trip, hip check him, hack and whack him. His knees probably paid the price for being superhuman. The sad part, is if he had knee injuries today, he'd probably get way better care, and he'd have played a lot longer. My Mom hated the NHL after expansion from the Original 6. Said the play was too watered down. She was a nurse. She always said if Bobby was 10 years younger, he'd have gotten way better knee operations in the 80's compared to the early 70's.
  3. There's Orr, and then there's everyone else. Robinson and Potvin were key pieces. That's why I conservatively said Park is Top 5. I've made no secret if Robinson ever wanted to coach again, I'd gladly love him to coach here. But he's got his horses, and I'm glad he's happy.
  4. That's what sad. Miller and Horvat are going to be constantly compared to as who's the better player. Just like Hronek is going to judged on something that's not in his control. Namely what happens to those draft picks Detroit picks up. If those two picks turn out to be studs. We will never hear the end of it.
  5. 62 Games, 16 points, +7, 92 PIM's. If we want a RHD defenceman with snarl, and some upside I am totally down with that.
  6. Brad Park should get a mention. He was playing in the era of Bobby Orr. And was probably one of the top 5 defenceman in the league at the time, maybe even #2. In 1973-74 he got 82 Points in 78 games for the Rangers. And a 148 PIM's! One of the few non-Cup winners to be in the HHOF.
  7. Thanks to BM for finding this: "Every year since they last made the playoffs in a complete 82-game season: 2015-16: 7-12-1 2016-17: 4-14-2 2017-18: 7-9-4 2018-19: 9-8-3 2019-20: 9-9-2 (made playoffs) 2020-21: 7-12-1 2021-22: 10-5-5 2022-23: 13-6-1 (last 20 games until tonight. As of 29 March 2023. ) Nothing special outside of the last two years." Outside the last two seasons the Canucks have not "always" turned on the jets in the last 20 games of the season. So 3 out of 8 years the Canucks have had a winning record. Or 3 out of 8 and one season barely over .500 depending how you view OT losses. And they basically backed into the playoffs. So can we put to bed this myth the team always wins when the pressure is off?
  8. You also run into a bigger risk in the team moving. So careful what you wish for.
  9. The trick isn't selling the team. The trick is finding someone with deep enough pockets to take the Canucks out of Aqua's hands. As I said people are looking the wrong way asking to sell the team. You need to find a buyer.
  10. With recent issues with players refusing. I think there needs to be some discussion between management and players on how to be supportive and get everyone on board.
  11. We can only hope that Ryan Reynolds bid fails. And he brings a new partnership to Vancouver to buy the Canucks.
  12. Maybe he chose to go somewhere with no pressure or excessive expectations?
  13. So what? Put an institution where? No local government will want it. It was a stupid move. It would have made sense if they closed it. Sold the land, and used the profits to move it elsewhere. Provided a local government would be ok with it. It's like the Expo lands. A decent chunk of it should have been set up for affordable housing. Norway taxes are around 47.3%. Yet seems to get more bang for the buck when it comes to government services. We should start watching what the countries there are doing right and maybe try to copy them?
  14. Or Foote? We could use a big stay at home defenceman.
  15. Queue the Canucks are close to signing Tram threads now....
