There's a difference between blocking a shot, and getting into the shooting lanes, and breaking up the play. The goalies are supposed to block shots. What our defence should be doing is keeping shots to the outside so the goalie can see the shot and make the stop. Breaking up plays, being aggressive on the puck and the puck carrier is far more sound, than blocking a shot. In fact in my opinion, being talented enough to keep the puck out of the opposition sticks and in the offensive zone and getting shots on goal is just as helpful defensively. We need to outwork, out hustle, out hit, and get lots of shots on goal.
Quit chasing the puck, control the puck and the game is yours. We need to dictate the style of play, not the other way around.
Boudreau is a moron. If that shot hits him in the face an inch or two differently, and he loses one of his best players for the rest of the series, yeah..that really helps your chances....
